Random Death Notice 2018
Clinton was definitely charismatic and had a unique charm and ability to relate to the common man. He could take difficult concepts and explain them in simple terms. And he was likeable. Hard to compete with that. I still remember after the Gulf War SNL had a skit called "Democrats try to decide who will lose to Bush in 1992" or something like that and it featured all of the front-runner Democrat candidates explaining why they shouldn't be nominated, as it was so obvious they were going to lose, badly. Boy did that not work out. https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/democratic-debate/2859836 if you can get around the Geographic blocker...I think that this is the skit...

Random Death Notice 2018
Obama ran trillion dollar deficits six out of eight years of his term and it didn't hurt him. In 2010 he ran almost a 2 trillion deficit, which is understandable and explainable given the economic stimulus.

Bettman isn't the bad guy, he just plays one on TV.

There are awful human beings out there...
not sure how you could deny that the climate is changing. It always is changing. I like Tyson, but not Suzuki. That guy is just such a putz.

Well he wanted to impress his BFF Trevor Noah so there was that.

drawing the ire of Murphy Brown isn't hard. Just be anything but a Democrat.

I get why Notley is doing this and so am not totally against it. It's not her fault that our country is so screwy we can't even build a simple pipeline.

Random Death Notice 2018
There were a lot of things going against Bush, but to understand why people say that vote splitting was a big issue you have to look at actual numbers. Perot got almost 20 million votes in that election. That's a lot.

Random Death Notice 2018
He lost due to Ross Perot splitting the vote on the right.

TSN article on LaPolice and Claybrooks
https://www.tsn.ca/claybrooks-lapolice-to-interview-for-argos-job-1.1219052 I remember that Grey Cup victory. The Lions spotted us 12 points and we hung on for the 23-34 win. What a glorious day!

all of the city-builders responsible for so much in Calgary are dead. And no one seems to be stepping up to take their place. Clay Riddell was the last one. And you are right about Nenshi, when I saw Nenshi holding the Cup over his head in a Stamps sweater at the 2014 Grey Cup for his photo op I shouted "Be a real fan and build your city a new stadium!!!!"- The TV Thread

Great - I will take it from random internet guy that there was twice the turnout. That could mean you and one other guy as opposed to just you. Whatever. If it's just all the Calgarians I know who don't care anymore, that is fine, and if that lets you sleep at night, even better. No I'm actually not. You just don't want to hear it. Fine. Don't listen then. The ignore feature is awesome. Talk out of your own ass jerk-off. Why is it that a lot of other teams' fans who come on here have to be such gi-normous ******-bags. Unbelievable. That's just excuse-making. So why wasn't a stadium built when things were going well? Regina and Winnipeg have much smaller economies and they were able to pull together as communities and get beautiful facilities built. Something to be proud of. Calgary just won the Grey Cup! This is a perfect time to start on a new campaign to start building a stadium, using the same models as Winnipeg used. Make the Stamps pay back part of the loan! Use some freaking imagination instead of wallowing in self-pity, and crying on other teams' fan forums about how non apathetic your apathetic city is. It's just sad.- The TV Thread

I think the Diversity thing is really awesome. Connecting with the next generation is really important, as the average sports fan is aging, and there's fewer people coming up behind them to take their place. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/the-sports-with-the-oldest-and-youngest-tv-audiences-2017-06-30- The TV Thread
We've been watching Murphy Brown too. It's weird that Avery is all grown up now. I like that he is on the "Wolf" Network, as it pits mother and son against each other idealism-wise, but they still find a way to live together and get along.- The TV Thread
We are also hooked on two shows on Sunday night - 90 Day Fiance and The Curse of Oak Island. 90 Day is pure trash, but everyone we tell about that show becomes hooked. The people are just so stupid and crazy.- The TV Thread
we watch it. Last night was ok, but the week before was really good. Saw the axe coming for Carl, it's always those who think that they are safe who get chopped. - Game 24 : Chicago
