2022/2023 Off-Season (League/Non-Bombers-specific News)
GCJenks replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
This could be fun. Are you proposing a weekly, what minute of the game type thing or a how many times each game or season long? Could be like the lock of the week, pick the quarter, 5 strikes and you’re out? -

Speaking of Lawler's return, I am surprised there wasn't any chatter here about the instagram post of him picking up his new Infiiniti in Edmonton, wearing a pair of Bomber sweats. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.instagram.com%2Fbigplay_law%2F&psig=AOvVaw2NQiWx0gPhEWJpOKs_2L-E&ust=1671120120545000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=2ahUKEwjYv8javfn7AhVFxeUKHSibAfAQ3YkBegQIABAN -
I grew up in this riding and owned a home there until a couple years ago. I was saddened to learn that Klein won, I think it is an indication of some of yesterdays conversation. Can the NDP offer enough candidates that people recognize and are willing to put their X beside? Jim Rondeau didn't win three terms in this riding because of the party leader, he won with hard work and dedication to his constituents. The NDP needs candidates that will mimic those actions and be in the community. I never voted for Jim but I respected the man, never have I seen anyone work so hard to serve his community in any capacity he could. I can't count how many times he volunteered to service at the Fall Suppers of many of the community churches. I wish there was a candidate of any party that was as dedicated as Jim to his constituents to vote for where I am now.

Overall I like this schedule. One home game looks like I need to miss but no home games while I hope to be away in August. Montreal road game on July 1st is exciting, already sent the wife a note on that one. I wish the game in BC was any Friday but the one before Thanksgiving, might still try and make that one work as I could travel home Saturday and not mess with family dinners. Hmm... -
I realize this wasn't directly addressed to me but I'll offer my thoughts anyway. I was recently listening to a podcast interview or Mary Barra CEO of GM. Whenever a female CEO or leader is interviewed the topic of glass ceiling comes up, this particular interview introduced a concept referred to as Glass Cliff that I hadn't ever heard before. As I understand the gist is that men put a woman in charge when they know there is no chance of success so that she can take the failure and then they can reset with a new leader and get back to the business of being in charge. Abhorrent behavior without question but I think it fits the MB and AB premiers situations, Stefanson and Smith will be turfed after losing the unwinnable elections and will be replaced. I have no idea who replaces DS in Alberta but the one person in MB that comes to mind is Scott Fielding, left her mess of a party when they were doomed but returns from the private sector to lead them in victory in the next election. Why Wab will fail, I can't say for sure. Could he be another Glass Cliff victim but as a minority, not a woman? I just don't think he has the smarts to do the job and too much ego to listen to those that he should. Agriculture and the small business sector will be what drives this province through these tight economic times. There isn't any $$ for the NDP to court their union buddies and I can't see them being able to gather enough support for a second win.

Former Bombers in NFL (and spring leagues) news

It has been a while and I don’t follow NFL at all. Is Streveler on an active roster? Has he qualified for his NFL pension? -

I don’t think Buck only being a year is anything of note. I’m pretty sure SOP has always been assistants for single year contracts. -

My concern is that they will need to be patient, much like MOS arrived here. They will need some time to assemble all the pieces on the field, not sure it can be done in one or even 2 off seasons. -

I first met Bob over 30 years ago, that’s who he was then and from everything thing I know about him, still who he is. If they give him the time and change the roster where he needs to they will be a very tough team to beat. -

I expect Coach Dyce to be creating a culture first organization. I expect he’ll try and bring FIFO to the room and I doubt that fit Benevide’s style. -

They are already sending people to Dryden for knee surgery. One of our neighbours went in October. Drove out the night before, day surgery at the hospital, left with a drip of local anesthetic to keep it numb/kill the pain and then drove home the next day, stretched out across the back seat with the leg up. Not an ideal solution but better than hobbling around in pain all the time. -

I would love that, I haven't had a #10 jersey since Hawerchuk played for the Jets. Although, if Dalton signs I committed to one of those too. -

6 pages in on a thread that says in the title "Don't Look back" yet that is exactly the theme of discussion. Looking back and complaining about the GC loss, absolutely it sucks but what do we need for next year to make that happen? One is going to argue a new kicker, others will defend the current and back we go in to the past. Indulge me for a moment for one "final" look back. Leading up to the game the common theme was that TO would have to score 30plus to even be in the game as our offense was going to score more. Guess what... Offense stunk, as bad as the defense looked they held them under the magic 30 number. Our offense didn't get it done they way they have all season. Book closed, move on. No one player bares the brunt of this failure and to a man I believe the team feels this way. They win as a team / lose as a team. Why to we need to go all "Ballsy" and need a scapegoat? This is still a team that is the class of the league from the guy that cleans the dressing room to the top office in the building, let's remember who we are and who we support. No one in that organization is looking to blame any one person, why must we? Can't we be at least as good as the team we cheer for? -
I'm so relieved that our 211 phone service isn't the disaster that 311 is.

I know people like to trash Imagine Dragons but this song has been really impactful for me. There have been days that I have to listen through more than a couple times before being able to go in to work. It really is okay to be not okay, and we have to be willing to share when we aren't. No one should have to hide that they aren't okay, we as a society won't get better if we insist on always portraying the idea that we always have to have the brave face on and hide how we are. It's OKAY Lyrics She could always hear every word they say Everybody walks like they just know the way Every single day, holdin' back the tears She'd never say a word 'cause there's nobody that hears It's okay to be not okay It's just fine to be out of your mind Breathe in deep, just a day at a time (ooh, ooh) 'Cause it's okay to be out of your mind, mind Mine is broken, how is yours? Sure it helps to hear the news and political discourse Fear, that is what he felt Every single day, 'cause all the boys would play Don't you dare be weak, emasculated freak Last up on the fence, tell me where's the sense? It's okay to be not okay It's just fine to be out of your mind Breathe in deep, just a day at a time (ooh, ooh) 'Cause it's okay to be out of your mind I don't want this body, I don't want this voice I don't wanna be here but I guess I have no choice Just let me live my truth, that's all I wanna do Baby, you're not broken, just a little bit confused It's okay to be not okay (I need you here with me) It's just fine to be out of your mind (I can't do it all alone) Breathe in deep, just a day at a time (just a day at a time) 'Cause it's okay to be out of your mind (it's okay, out of your mind) It's okay to be not okay (I need you here with me) It's just fine to be out of your mind (I can't do it all alone) Breathe in deep, just a day at a time (just a day at a time) 'Cause it's okay to be out of your mind (it's okay, out of your mind) (Ga-da, la-la, la-la, la-la, la) Da, da, da, da-da Da, da, da, da-da Da, da, da, da-da Da, da, da, da-da Da, da, da, da-da Da, da, da, da-da Da, da, da, da-da Da, da, da, da-da-da Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Andrew Tolman / Ben McKee / Dan Reynolds / Daniel Platzman / Wayne Sermon It’s OK lyrics © Universal Music Publishing Group

No idea who Jason is but Justin is very retired. Threw all kinds of offers at him in 2021 and it wasn’t enough, 2023 isn’t going to entice him at all.

At 23-17 I thought it was over, figured we wold march for another TD and just shut them down the rest of the way… Oops… Morning after it still hurts, only solace I’m not nursing the hangover many of you are. Next year…

On the “bright side “, I’m $300-400 less poor from needing to buy 3peat gear at the Bomber Store.

WTF is Prokup doing out there on 1st. ****!

I’ll wear some too. I predicted 33-17 including a Lieggs miss right on track…
