Defensive end too. We don't have an import backup defensive end. Those are two of the easiest positions to fill. And we whiffed hard on both. To their credit though, they did an unreal job with the level of talent in the secondary.
-
That's a good point actually. Dunn was one for sure, Was zach anderson another? Outside of those 2 guys though, I don't think there was anyone else and Anderson might not have even started the first game. Markett? nah, he didn't start. Desia Dunn (who admittedly, I wasn't excited about at all) and Zach Anderson right off the bat. Then there was Markett and Wallace Miles was a promising receiver as well (although he was here right at the end of 2012)

There aren't many things worse than a Rusty Johnson.
-
I won't say completely devoid. There are a handful of talented rookie imports that I am excited about. Bruce Johnson, Maurice Leggett and Paris Cotton. That being said, one is injured and one probably isn't a starter so where does that leave us? I'm just really, really disappointed at the level of defensive line prospects and receiving prospects we brought in. Look at our rush end depth. The backup is Louie Richardson. No offense to Louie Richardson, but that's sad.

sometimes you find the weirdest things to be upset about. Daivon Dumas has to be the least mentioned guy throughout all of training camp, which generally isn't bad for a DB, and you can't believe we kept him. And then you find it weird that we cut Dell without a chance to get a good look at him, but you're surprised we kept Howard - who also has yet to get much of a chance this TC. And Taylor Renaud? Who cares. sometimes I think you just sit there waiting to find something in my posts to blow out of proportion. Randle wasn't mentioned because he's a shutdown guy, Dumas wasn't mentioned because he was trailing the play and got very limited reps in pre-season Howard was a turnstyle... Peterson had some problems but showed more than Howard. Even with that whiffed tackle, I thought Moseley was impressive on STs. He had more speed than the other DL prospects. Renaud - I will always cheer for Manitobans... would have PRd him until we actually found another better NI prospect I'm not upset at all. In fact, I'm excited that Hall is gone. I do that because you actually explain your opinions. Hence, dialogue.

http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/04/14/willie-haulstead-drawing-attention-with-big-catches-at-bombers-mini-camp I see now who you are talking about. What DID happen to him? I like the comment at the end about Marve. I suppose now, he'll just go down as the oldest looking 24 year old in the history of the world. Seriously. He could be 45.
-
And Jaymael Smith... Guessing you don't remember Haulstead.
-
What did he say about Dell?? They asked him if Dell was in future plans (i.e. PR) at all and he said no and then said they basically didn't manage things properly and brought him in too close to cutdown day to even give him a chance.
-
30 year olds probably don't want PR spots.
-
Congrats to blitzmore for winning our draw for a $25 Bomber Store gift card. Thanks again to EVERYONE who contributed reports during camp.

This lackluster crop of receivers makes me look back and wonder ... what happened to Willie Haulstead?
-
So then process of elimination, practice roster would be ... Browning, Dumas, Bolton, Everett, a couple import OL, Fraser, Kemp ... or something like that?
-
Typical Friesen garbage to end it. "Do you think you can make the playoffs" ... come on.
-
Aaron Kelly is the starter for right now.
-
O'Shea confirmed the Browning signing.
-
Watching the presser ... O'Shea just had an interesting response to the question about Mark Dell.
-
Agreed. Only Joe Mack teams start 6 rookies in week one. Look at the type of talent we went after. We didn't take the Joe Mack approach of going after strictly young, unproven talent. We went after the experienced players who have been around and have played enough football that they should be able to fit right in. Look at the names we went through this offseason with significant NFL experience. It just doesn't strike me as impressive.
-
I'm not saying success or failure as a whole. I'm just saying as far as the class of rookie imports goes, it's pretty underwhelming.
-
Agreed, aside from Paris Cotton is there any other real good import we brought in? The fact we couldn't find anyone better than a guy like Kuale bothers me. I'd say Leggett and Bruce Johnson. But that's not a good haul, considering they went through what? 50 imports?
-
Is it because they haven't found someone to supplant Kelly ? Any time you go into the offseason with Desia Dunn, Aaron Kelly and Greg Peach as projected starters and come out of the following training camp with it being the exact same, you've done a bad job.
-
If he was going on the PR, he'd be cut.
-
Really disappointed with our scouting this offseason, to be honest.
-
I think about a dozen or so. Depending on how the IR goes ... I'm expecting Cotton, Ford, Swiston, Sears and Briggs to be one-gamed, Newman to be six-gamed.

The brain is a funny thing. I've had a number of concussions too. Only knocked out cold once. Mostly hockey. I don't have any of the more serious symptoms, but light sensitivity is an issue.
