  1. I've long given up. I have better things to do. Like drink.
  2. What they really need to do is develop a QBR type formula that uses advanced statistics to come to it's conclusion. Then you'll be getting somewhere. Combine (Completion % - Expected Completion %), At-fault interception throws, yards per attempt, sacks per snap, etc. It's nearly impossible to develop a formula to rate quarterbacks based on the raw, preliminary numbers we accept as the standard. A quarterback's individual success is too dependent on the result at the other end of his throw and without coming up with a way to define that, you're not going to get anywhere. Quarterback throws the ball, it's tipped by the receiver into a defender's hands. QB's fault? No, but it has a negative impact on his statistics. Quarterback takes the snap, LT blows the edge and allows the rush to get through, QB sails it out of bounds. QB's fault? No, but it has a negative impact on his statistics. It works in the other direction too. Quarterback throws the ball right to a DB because he misread a coverage. DB drops it. QB's fault? Yes, but no negative impact. TLDR: Football is the toughest sport to analyze statistically. We're nowhere even close to being able to do it.
  3. I would be A-OK with us signing Spencer Watt.
  4. He was measured at the combine. I'd say that's as official as it gets unless you believe his height is like his shirt and he can change it every day.
  5. Corney is 6'3", 254; Boateng is 6', 233 - they're not even close to the same size. What is there to like about Boateng? Seriously. He's slow, he's not explosive and he made his mark at Wilfrid Laurier being able to out-athlete guys who aren't athletes. He's a less athletic version of a guy like Evan Foster, who nobody views as a serious threat to be anything but a special teams guy. Is it any surprise that he was ranked as a top prospect until teams found out he was basically 2 1/2 inches shorter than what his university team touted him as? I'm not trying to tell anyone their opinion is wrong. I just don't see what the difference is between a guy like Boateng and a guy like, let's say ... Mark Mackie, who was touted as the "not good enough, underdog, too small" guy all combine long.

Marty Scurll joining Bullet Club good lord I can only be so aroused
  7. I just don't see it in him as a pro player. Canadian defensive ends in his body just don't seem to make the transition.
  8. I'll be surprised if he gets more than 3 career sacks.
  9. To all new members seeking Bomber discussion while the team's official forum is down: Welcome. We're not so bad here. Stick around, maybe you'll enjoy it.
  10. For the record, I don't really agree with the way you handled it. I know how his words came across and for the record, I think both forums have their place in our online community and don't think it's necessary to proclaim one as superior to the other. But you really went after him there.
  11. 8 edits, that's gotta be a record.
  12. "I'm curious about the roster bonus" is such a strange thing to say. It's like ever since it happened with Mo Price, it's become this strange obsession Rider fans had. Why in the world do you think for even a second that a rookie would have a roster bonus of any significant consequence to the salary cap.
  13. Probably one of those unexpected downtime things that they then turned into a whole lot more.
  14. Bombers signed Thera-Plamondon and Conteh, but yeah ... at the bottom of the press release, Waggoner retired. That's disappointing, but it is what it is. Ultimately, as much as I thought his motor would translate to meaningful defensive reps, he did end up being a bust.
  15. Club hasn't announced it but QB Austin Apodaca's training facility just announced he's signed with the Bombers. Lots to like about this signing. 6'3", 215 ... very much a pro-style prospect. Absolute gun for an arm ... had he clocked it at the combine instead of a pro day, he would've set the all-time record with a 61 MPH toss. Can make all the CFL throws. Few things not to like ... he didn't play much in college. Didn't get a lot of opportunity to throw the ball at UNM, ran the triple option offense. Receivers never really helped him out much, so he doesn't have the backing of any good statistics really. Pretty raw.
  16. Not quite. He may never play for them, they really only want him if he takes a pay cut.
  17. a DB from Southeastern Oklahoma and a WR from Southwestern Oklahoma ... that's weird
  18. The issue there (which is why I would think a lot of teams weren't very interested) is that even though he's got FB attributes ... he's nowhere near FB sized. He'd be a good fullback if he were big enough.
  19. You know, as much as I've really made a conscious decision to try and be more respectful to a few posters here who I've certainly been overly critical ... this one just doesn't sit well with me. 1) I have already said in this thread that I really have no preference and I'm fine with going the route of least resistance. 2) There literally could not be less true words that the ones that suggest this site has evolved to a state of "what Mike wants is what happens." I'm probably the least active staff member on this entire forum and I've been debating a decision to remove myself from the staff here because of that very reason. Rich and I should not be held in equal regard as far as "titles" on this forum go. Rich is the owner and I'm very much just holding onto a title I don't deserve at this point. 3) If you go back and look at past offseasons, I've usually been the one creating the majority share of the individual signing threads. It's foolish and just plain wrong to suggest I'm not a proponent of them considering the method you're suggesting I don't like is the exact method I've used in past offseasons until we tried to give this cumulative thread a shot this offseason. 4) We don't stifle "thread originators" or whatever babble you were referring to. You feel this way because your threads are occasionally stifled because you love to hear yourself talk and have so much self importance that you think every thought that enters your head is worth a brand new thread. Most of us have tuned them out by now. So yeah. There's my opinion on that I suppose. For everyone else: let's try to continue the general thread then maybe open it up to discussion to see what everyone prefers once we get to TC?
  20. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but the intent is to have an area for our more casual readers to be able to catch up. If all the information is in a single thread, it's easy for them to find it.
  21. You just said the site isn't busy, then you said there's a thread with 13 topics all being discussed at once. Which is it? theres a thread for a reason. (I'll be moving this once I'm not on mobile)

RAW has been pitiful lately, which is sad with the talent they have.
  23. Looked into it after reading it on Riderfans this morning and there is a real concern that Richie might not be able to resume coaching this season due to some health issues. Not entirely sure what it is and don't really feel like we're in a position to know until he's ready for us to, but it sounds serious enough that it could prevent him from coaching. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a speedy recovery from whatever it is that is affecting Coach Hall. This is not good news, but for so many reasons other than football.
  24. Cole no doubt got cut because he's got a bad attitude.
