Bombers Training Camp 2017 - May 28
Just got back from camp. Trying to go in order here but I might be all over the place QBs - Nichols looked as expected, best of the bunch. DLF looked the worst, tons of wobble in his throw and he doesn't sell the decision to run very well. Dom Davis telegraphed a few throws but made some nice plays as well. Apodaca stands out in the sense that he doesn't look like a rookie and he's got by far the best arm. RBs - tough to see much at field level but Flanders had a couple of nice one handed grabs out of the backfield RECs - interesting bunch. Dressler is what you'd expect, Adams took half of practice off, Stafford is up and down. Of the new guys, the ones that stood out were Lowder, Peterson and the new guy Liggins especially. Liggins runs so smooth and his hands looked super soft ... didn't see a whole lot out of him in volume but when he did make a play, he looked good doing it. JFG also looked real good throughout practice. OL - I didn't watch much DL - standouts other than what we'd expect were Jeffcoat and Johnson, to me. Scott wasn't practicing. LB - Hurl looked bad. Missed an assignment big time on a play Roberson broke for big yards. Stone looks active, Knox looks kind of lost in the shuffle. I also like the looks of Santos-Knox, he flies around and is always mixing it up. DB - lots of back and forth with the receivers. Heath is a real leader vocally. Carmichael looks like he really understands the game. Derek Jones very versatile. trying to think of more ...

Jersey Ideas
Fun fact my buddy was thinking of getting a Goossen jersey then Goossen moved in next door and he didn't want to get his neighbor's jersey.

For the sake of privacy, let's call him Rider S. No no no, that's too obvious ... let's say R. Stronson!

He'd probably become a hall of famer in some kind of reverse voodoo magic.

Stanford Samuels' kid is actually an unreal prospect, too. Stanford Samuels III - he's committed to FSU just like his dad and was rated a top 5 prospect in the entire nation at his position. Impressive stuff. NEG LIST HIM. $tanford $amuels $$$

Was reading some of the reports from training camp over on RF. Sounds like the majority of the reports aren't very flattering. There's one poster (I'm sure you can guess who) who is assuring everyone things will be fine, but according to a decent amount of the reports, their defense is getting whooped on a regular basis - especially in coverage. Not a good thing for a Kevin Glenn offense. I wonder what we open as for week 2 favorites. Winnipeg -4.5 seems realistic, given the 3 point advantage they generally give the home team.

Your dad sounds like the guy beside me. It's unbearable. I switched seats this year to a different section entirely because of him.

Jersey Ideas
I'm a big believer in getting the under the radar guys. I have an Adam Lowry jersey. Maybe just because I'm so cursed that whenever I get a jersey, something bad happens. Got an Armstrong jersey right before he decided he didn't want to play anymore. Then I got a Shabazz jersey and he got released. Followed that up with a TJ Harris jersey after he had "the best training camp ever" and he made it a handful of games. Cory Watson jersey that I got from Bluto lasted a few weeks until Dan West decided to murder him on the sidelines in practice. I held off for a while until I went to the Bomber Store right before kickoff a couple years ago to order a Drew Willy jersey and they hadn't even delivered it to my seat by the time he got carted off - seriously. On the NHL side, I have an Evander Kane and three weeks after I bought my Adam Lowry jersey, he got sent down to the A. I *may* have broken the curse though. I've been rolling with a Westerman and an Ehlers for a year+ now and we're doing well so far. Back to your question ... because I like under the radar guys and I think it's cool to support the hometown whenever possible ... I would recommend a THOMAS MILES.

Also ... NORRISTORIUS?

I don't really see the big deal. What he said doesn't seem to be untrue. If we sold him on the role he claims we did (which would make sense, since that's what he excels at) then we certainly didn't follow through on our end.

I like Kevin Glenn but he's not going to give the Riders more than 7 wins.

LOL after all that talk at RF about how we overpaid Ekakitie, they gave Judge $1500 less in guaranteed money this season.

TSN CFL Fantasy Football
Is this joint CFL/TSN venture replacing the TSN Fantasy Football they've run for a few years? Because if so ... that's awful. I hate the increase cap based on referrals idea.

Wait until you see their couch at Torque. I won't ruin the surprise. I won't change my mind on Barn Hammer. I want to like them so bad. Their space is amazing, their branding is awesome ... their beer just sucks to me. It's like the one place my beer friends and I will just not go anymore. PS - they changed the name, it's only Grandpa's Sweater now. See? They ruin everything!
