It is really about line matchups against other teams. NHL isn't just about offence. These guys need to learn the defensive side of the NHL before they are going to get bigger minutes, and you ease them into that until they learn and prove they can do it

They did explicitly ask permission and signed an extensive contract on how the logo can and can't be used. It isn't the exact logo but it is certainly inspired from and had they not signed the contract could have had legal issues.

Comeau, who was the Jets head scout until last year was also a scout with Atlanta, but I believe they changed a lot of the scouts under him and increased their numbers as well. This was an article from 2014, but it shows how the Jets have invested heavily into their scouting. It wasn't just lip service that they were going to be a draft and develop team. I don't think there is any rule about trading a player they select. They can't buy any of the players they select out for a year. These are the only restrictions I've seen from the Vegas side of things when they do the expansion draft. https://www.nhl.com/news/nhl-expansion-draft-rules/c-281010592

I think part of the reason Maurice is reluctant to put the younger players in the top 6 is those lines often get the tougher defensive minutes and he tries to shelter players until they can prove they are responsible. This applying to Connor more so then Armia at this point. People are often trying to put lines together based on pure skill, but there are defensive responsibilities and how the coach wants to play his matchups against the other team that are hard to take into account because while a lot of us will track Jet lines during a game, I don't really track / pay attention to who Maurice is trying to match them up against. As to the blender of lines last game, not a big fan of it either, but Maurice said in post game comments that he thought the team basically just ran out of juice as the game went along. I think he was trying to find people who still had legs. Jets still at the top of the league with 29 games played (tied with Calgary). Teams with the least amount of games played are at 24. Fatigue still a factor with this team I think.

I think the discussion on who goes down / comes up is made between both Maurice and Chevy with Chevy having final say as it effects waivers / development. The longer Connor has a more diminished role on this team without being sent down to the Moose, the more credence there is to rumours of the "handshake" deal with NCAA prospects that they will get their first year with a full NHL salary.

Can't believe they missed this penalty. Was at the game last night, and the ref on that side of the rink wasn't calling anything on New Jersey but he made a lot of the calls on the Jets. Don't like conspiracy theories or "biased" ref insinuations, but some games it just makes you wonder.
