  1. At a certain point the roster construction debate starts to lose a bit of its punch when we've circled around and have started advocating for someone like Wheatfall to stick around, who had 42% of his production last year in the first 3 games of the season. No doubt if he had stuck around we'd be talking about him as someone proof-positive that the Bombers have locked in on their guys and it's impossible to crack the active roster as an outsider. People were giving **** to Jerreth Sterns as a JAG last year but he had similar overall production to Wheatfall with the added benefit of not disappearing for games at a time. Complaining about having a guy stick around because he's been here and knows the system despite being in over his head seems to be 95% of the content here so i'm not sure I get it.
  2. A few high priced WRs probably not having a good time right now... Namely Hatcher and Lawler, go from having MOP QBs throwing to you to whatever you call what is going on in Hamilton and BC. At least with Kiondre Smith he has some time left to grow with another QB, the first two are on the wrong side of 30
  3. Riderville the team website, not Riderfans the fan website Saskatchewan RoughridersTouchdown Tommy makes a major impact in first two starts...The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ No. 83 is also No. 10. Tommy Nield is just the 10th player to catch at least one touchdown pass in each of his first two starts with the Green and White. “That’s an incre
  4. Weird to mention cherry picking stats and point out Wheatfall has 655 in 16 games when Nield had 530 in 13, but he didn't record any stats in the first two games back from his injury so who knows if he even saw the field... Riderville mentions the Elks week 8 game as the first time he suited up despite showing up on the depth chart in week 7 Wheatfall was also misused as a defacto WR2 here until Wilson showed up and he just isn't gonna be that guy. He was 2nd on the team in targets (among WRs, Brady had 3 more). Nield had similar game over game production in the role he is filling now which is that 4th receiver or someone who can step up a bit when the injury big hits... Although the Bombers are targetting him quite a bit more downfield than the Riders did last year
  5. I think for some reason we are talking about Wheatfall replacing Cobb... So either Nield or him being the 5th WR? And then one of them putting up 700 yards somehow.
  6. Why would the choice be Nield or Wheatfall? White is our WR3, the choice would be likely have been between Wheatfall and White. If for some reason you have White on the roster with Wheatfall... what does Wheatfall bring to the table that is any different from Demski, Wilson or White? At least Nield in theory has an archetype that is different from those 3, and he has the right passport. It's not like Wheatfall lit the Bombers on fire last year either. In 16 games he had 7 games above 50 yards receiving, and 8 games below 25. I do find it kind of funny though that there is an outside chance that Lawler ends up as having the 3rd most receiving yards of the former Bombers on the Ti-Cats. That would have been unthinkable at the start of the season
  7. YPA isn't a good indication of deep balls because an incompletion drops it down. Through 2 weeks Brown was at 11.4 YPA which would put him in the top half of the league and he throws 20+ yards depth passes at about the same rate as everyone else. He has been horrendous on accuracy on them though. I'm pretty sure 3 of the 4 interceptions he threw were 20 or more yards past the line of scrimmage.
  8. Bizarre game. It kind of felt like the game tilted towards the Bombers in the 4th but back to back interceptions put an end to that. Despite their best effort, with what, 10 minutes left in the game they were only down 12, with 4 interceptions, a missed field goal return, a blocked punt, numerous long TDs against.
  9. I've seen people speculate it might be an artifact of the 35 second clock. With it running at the stop of the previous down and not being whistled in by the ref it offers less time for the defense to substitute and get set.
  10. Quotes that precede unfortunate events
  11. I think he tore his bicep last year week 3 or 4 and then came back for the last 2 games but didn't play in the playoffs I don't think. He's played all 5 games for the Lions this year.
  12. Dejon Allen Released from Lions
  13. It's definitely an interesting discussion. The Calgary/Sask game is an interesting case point. Calgary scores a late TD to come within 1. If you kick the field goal you have a 9% chance of losing right there, or a 91% chance of going to overtime where they ultimately lose. Or you go for two and have a 55% chance of winning right there and a 45% of losing. Most (almost all?) coaches will take their chances in overtime... The blame shifts a bit too, if a kicker misses that's on the kicker, if the 2 pt conversion fails it's on the coach
  14. Last I checked the goal of the game is to score more points than the other team. Going for 2 makes it more likely to happen
  15. For the record this is a pretty well documented thing in prospect theory. DT points out that it is more effective to go for 2 based on expected points but people want to go for 1 because they are adverse to getting 0 points. This is expected but irrational
  16. ...so you don't think bringing in a washed returner with 18 career targets in 78 games could help with the receiving corps?
  17. Isn't this what the Lions have done? 3QBs on the roster but Horvath runs the short yardage package. Early returns on Brice weren't great of course.
  18. CBCSask. Roughrider in fatal crash was driving on wrong side...Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Jayden Dalke was driving the wrong way on the highway with alcohol and cannabis in his vehicle before the crash that killed him and another man, RCMP say. RCMP did not receive any reports about a vehicle travelling the wrong way on the highway prior to the crash, Maier said. However, she revealed that RCMP received a report at 8:27 p.m. CST about a silver SUV having left a gas station in Lumsden without paying for fuel, and that further investigation found it was the same SUV that was in the crash.
  19. This is horrible for everyone involved. I get wanting to get statements out there looking sympathetic but I think you need to wait to canonize people until all the facts are out there https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/fatal-crash-roughrider-jayden-dalke-bhishma-rajyaguru-9.7276759
  20. Lawson and Collaros both to the 6-game based on that depth chart?
  21. I have no idea why they didn't call it a grade 2 RTP either, makes it a bit more palatable because then Montreal is penalized 10 yards instead of the wash it ended up being.
  22. The Bombers should wear their Signature Series jersey for this one that totally wasn't picked from the Argos reject pile
  23. Wrong thread
  24. You have to believe Brown would get the start. It's clear the play calling didn't trust Elgersma with that 3 depth yards per attempt... I'm not even sure it got that high because the only deep pass I can see in the PxP he attempted was the pass interference to White which I don't think would count. 6/11 of his completions were at or behind the line of scrimmage and the rest were about 5 yards down field
  25. Again, if the Bombers were to let Brown walk, the 2028 pick would not convey based on all previous reporting. In this unlikely situation, the total cost for the Bombers in the trade would be the 9 spots in the 2027 draft the Bombers would lose moving from their 2027 first round pick, to the 2nd round pick that came with Brown, which originally ended up in Ottawa due to moving up for Daniels
