  1. It's like an advent calendar but instead of chocolate it's all my favorite Blue Bombers being resigned.
  2. Isn't Huff like 20 years older than O'Shea? Not sure if Buck is willing to wait 15 years for O'Shea to reach retirement age and want to move upstairs.
  3. The reason for the language is that for 95% of the cases you are never going to exceed that. Some canadian DB? Maybe throw them a bone (up to 10% increase) in their option year and you have more than one year of control. Or cut them loose if they don't work out When you have a generational Canadian QB (Rourke) or a very good receiver (KSB) you tear up the option year and keep them happy. This is a good look going forward because NCAA Canadians who might be considering doing the journeyman PR thing down south see that if they come back home and play well for a couple of years they will get paid one way or another. Also... if you opt out of the contract... you aren't on the first contract any more? why would you be beholden to the salary grid for 1st contracts at that point?
  4. In the 2+1 Draft Pick Contract the "Option Year" is the +1. Yes, the base salary of the "Option year" is required to be no more than 10% of the 2nd year base salary. What happens if the team chooses to not "opt into" the "Option Year" of the draftee? Are they (the draftee) required to sign a single year contract at a rate not more than 10% of their 2nd year salary with whoever will have them? Is any team that signs them for any length of time required to have that first year be no more than 10% of the 2nd year?
  5. I think Bighill and Jefferson end up staying. They are pretty entrenched in the community. I'd worry about Jeffcoat. Seemed like he took a bit of convincing to come back this year, he had a bit of a rough season injury wise as well.
  6. What was the deal with the player package on that Prukop interception? That came off of a 13 yard Brady run for a first down, and only the 2nd play of the drive. I thought Prukop was effective where he gets a short yardage first down, and they keep him out there and try to catch the opponent with a mismatched package, either for a designed run outside or a quick pass... was he out there at the start of the drive or did they sub off Collaros for that play?
  7. Brady was drafted in 2019, he theoretically should have signed a 2+1 deal then. He signed a 2 year contract extension this off season. What happened with contracts during the cancelled season? I know players didn't get paid, but did their contracts toll? Were all 2019 draft picked in their option year or were they playing out the 2nd actual year of their deal?
  8. The Bombers the past few years have seemed to be able to identify the exact moment in a game where they can execute on an opportunity and really take it to the other team. The moment last night was after the Grant Punt Return. The 4th Quarter Bombers should have run away with the game after that point. However what happened was Missed XP Inexplicable RTP penalty and letting them get a FG to bring it to with 3 Inexplicable bomb by Prukop on the second play after a great Brady run to give Argos the ball back and the Argos are back in the game. Despite all the perceived short comings... the Bombers had a chance to win at the end of game. It's too bad that little pass to Demski didn't make it over the DL but I'm not sure why you don't keep riding Brady there.
  9. I think the sequence going with Grant getting the TD, missing the XP, letting the Argos drive for a FG and then that terrible Prukop arm punt was the turning point. You have this amazing play that should tilt the field against the Argos but you let them chip back into the game. If there is any silver lining, losing the game in such a manner might keep the team together more for next year. 3 straight and you might see some of the grizzled vets ride off into the sunset. Miserable end to the game might keep them wanting more!
  10. I like making Slow Cooked Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches. The kids enjoying making these with me https://www.simplyscratch.com/baked-homemade-pizza-rolls/
  11. How do we really know that is Collaros? That could be anyone in a #8 Jersey!
  12. We keep arguing about Rourke, but the player who will likely answer this question without disappearing out into the NFL is Kian Schaffer-Baker 2nd year player, theoretically has his option coming up, almost 1000 yards and 5 TDs and the right passport. If you had the option would you have him play out his +1 year at $80k or hope he continues to improve and sign him to a multi year deal?
  13. For the record,... Olivera and Hallett both were drafted in 2019 and received extensions going into this season. Kerfalla Exume was drafted in the 7th round, played for the bombers in 2019 and was a free agent going into 2021.
  14. Imagine having 800 all-purpose yards and 9 TDs and you are 4th on the list of people to focus on
  15. Probably my favourite Bomber to be honest. Dude just exudes energy, he is exhausting to watch sometimes. All-world ball spinning skills as well. If you specifically bring in a guy to take over that starts the clock. As a coach or GM, if you draft a QB in the first round that puts 3 years on your clock because the impression is that you need to give the team time to grow.
  16. We need to go back to the 50s when players were treated like indentured servants
  17. option, noun, op·tion an act of choosing hard to make an option between such alternatives the power or right to choose : freedom of choice He has the option to cancel the deal. a contract conveying a right to buy or sell designated securities, commodities, or property interest at a specified price during a stipulated period also : the right conveyed by an option The ad is for a condo to rent with an option to buy.

  19. It would go a long way if you can cite what you are seeing that gives you the impression that you are correct instead of screaming into the void. Again, hard to find 2022 CBA things but from here https://tdnprod.wpengine.com/2020/01/07/the-comprehensive-cfl-collective-bargaining-agreement/ Their commentary provided here Yes, you are correct in that the 3rd year TEAM option is included in the CBA and the Standard Player agreement in order to control costs for new draft picks. You may be correct in that the CBA language in that the salary structure of the contract may not be able to change as stated in the Standard Player Contract (teams may be bound to offering based on the structure laid out, not a minimum of 100% of the previous year + bonus). What you can't seem to grok is that the Lions can literally let his contract run out by not exercising the option. Rourke would become a de-facto free agent and would not be bound to the third year option of his original contract as he would need to sign a whole new one. Really the Lions have 2 options 1. Let Rourke test out his NFL option, lose him for a number of years based on how long he holds a clipboard and bounces around the practice squad... He may be released from his contract at this point... but his rights remain with BC? Like I've mentioned previously... hard to find exact language in the CBA around this. Presumably when he is done flirting with the NFL he could sign for whatever or have his rights traded 2. Reach an agreement with Rourke, allow the option to expire, sign him to a new deal (and hope no one swoops in with a ridiculous offer he accepts).
  20. Collaros come Sunday

  22. I am having a hard time finding a newer source but I can't imagine this has changed too much since or the CFLPA Would pitch a fit https://cflpa.com/download/appendix-aa-standard-player-contract-option-year/ --> APPENDIX AA – STANDARD PLAYER CONTRACT – OPTION YEAR --> Originally posted 2014, updated 2020 Under these terms, the Lions have until February 14th, 2023 to inform him that he will be signed for another year under the same terms... Actually reading this it almost seems like they can tell him he gets another year but technically they could pay him whatever he wants in that extra year as long as it is at least 100% of the previous salary. ANYWAYS, if he signs again I presume they decline the option and sign a 3 year deal at least similar to Collaros.
