When you are on the ascent or riding out the peak sure... 2018-2023 you can take those moral victories as either learning experiences or players going to be able to lean on their experience and right the ship... 2024 and on when your team is who they are, or the voices who can right the ship are in clear decline and holding on for dear life... not so much

I think coming up short consistently against the best teams in the league (0-5 so far if you are keeping track) should provide a greater impetus for trying to improve the roster... not holding pat

2 wins in the last 5 games, both against a back up QB (and in the case of Montreal the back up QBs back up back up) and the Bombers decide to trot out the same old, tired DL that has failed to generate any meaningful pressure in over a month (only 3 sacks in those 5 games). Maybe those 9 LBers on the roster will help with that?

The depressing Strev stats for me are: He is 9/17 on passes more than 20 yards in the air and his total yardage on those plays is... 198. 5 of them are TDs so they won't count some yardage, but that is the lowest average of yards per pass at that depth in the league... Collaros has 20 completions on passes that distance for 742 yards which is about 37 yards per completion! Collaros also has 6 runs of 10+ yards to Strevelers 1. He also is the only QB in the league who has multiple interceptions in the red zone. His INT percentage when he gets within the 20 is 28.5%. The next two closest are Masoli at 11% and Crum at 6.7%

I can't tell if you are saying that Arbuckle has been average or he will maintaining his current average but looking at the game logs and geez; 6 Straight games of 300 or more yards passing, 14 TDs vs 2 Interceptions. If the Bombers were getting that level of QBing they'd probably be the prairie team sitting on 10 wins.

Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Selfishly... I would want Elgersma to bounce around a bit down south before he settles up here. If he comes up this year, and balls out next year, he's probably gone again in 2027. If he spends the next year and a half bouncing around PRs and Camps looking for a shot and comes up in 2027, he's more likely here for the long haul. -

Are you talking Cody Fajardo 2019 West Nominee for MOP? There is a difference between not being able to win the big game and struggling to win any game. I would take Fajardo every day over Streveler. There are very few QBs I wouldn't take over Streveler in the league right now -
Don't forget Jonanthon Jones as well. Thats what, 400k of SMS hanging out on the 1-game IR for most of the season.

I just don't understand why anyone would want to hang onto Streveler at this point. He's been here 4 years and the best he's shown is that he is a back up who won't directly lose you games... even though he is 7-8 as a starter. If you are headed into 2026 with a QB room with the husk of Collaros, Streveler and Wilson (without Wilson getting these next 6 games so show what he can do) that is pretty much throwing in the towel. -

Yep wherein lies the problem. In his first stint he was seen as an almost glorified running back. He goes to the NFL and it becomes, well he must not be that bad of a passer if he is getting looks in the NFL. And now he's back, and he's just as bad (or worse) as a passer and he can't run. But I guess now its because the team is O-Line is shitty and not that he isn't a great QB? -

His stats are pretty similar to what he had in 2019... Accuracy the same at 66.7, Efficiency close at 72.4 now vs 72 in 2019, INT rate worse this year at 7.6% compared to 6 then... both numbers absolutely horrible but I digress, but he has absolutely refused to run the ball compared to then... 726 Yards rushing in 2019... even 272 yards through 13 games last year compared to 106 this year through 12. -

CFL buckets the stats into 0-9, 10-19, 20+. That is measured from the LOS to the Reception point, not where the QB throws it from. Streveler is 9/17 for 5 TDS and 2 INTs through Week 14 But those 9 completions have gone for 198 yards so almost all of them at right around 20, or going into the end zone which is a fun stat. -

The only qualified passer with a better accuracy than he has is Adams. Other than that the only QB who has worse accuracy with more attempts than him is MBT. 70% of Strevelers attempts are also coming within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. Adams for example is at 48% of his passes from 0-9 yards past the line of scrimmage. Adams almost has as many passes between 10-19 as Streveler has total (91 to 105). Hell, Bo has 76 attempts more than 20 yards down field... so yeah Streveler for sure should have better accuracy than those guys. -

To continue to pile on Streveler The Bombers are 7th in the league is TD drive percentage at 16.8%. Montreal is last at 11.6% Streveler was 4/16 Week 2. 0/1 Week 5. 1/8 Week 7. 1/7 Week 8. 1/13 in week 9. 0/4 in week 14. So overall that is 7/49 so... something like 14%... the only offense worse than the Bombers with Streveler at the helm is Montreal and their pu pu platter of QBs they've trotted out this year The Bombers are SIGNIFICANTLY better with Collaros at the helm. Whether that is a change in playcalling to better fit Streveler, or because of his knee, or Collaros is just that much better is up to debate. Sure he is 2-0, but getting those wins against a BC team at home coming off a bye when Rourke is known to have the yips against the Bombers, and then against Toronto when Special Teams and the Defense were playing out of their minds (Jefferson had the highest rated PFF game ever if you are into that metric) is a tad misleading. -

The frustrating thing for me is that you know what you have with Streveler. Wilson has been around for more and a season and a half this point. The only QBs who have seen any playtime that are have been worse than Streveler are Morgan (MTL), Masoli (BC), and Walker (CGY). The only QB who has a depth of target less than Streveler is Morgan. Streveler is the only QB in the league who has more than 1 red zone intereception despite being 13th in overall passing attempts. It's not even like he is doing anything with his legs... him and Collaros are neck and neck in rushing yardage, but Collaros has 6 runs of 10+ yards vs 1 for Streveler. If Steveler can't get the job done, and you are unwilling to go to Wilson... what is even the point of having Wilson on the roster? To run the short yardage game when Collaros inevitably gets injured and you don't want to have Streveler do it while he is QB1? -

Yes he is 2-0 as a starter but the Lions didn't exactly look like world beaters in week 2, and I don't know how much credit Streveler can take for week 9 with Vaval picking up 2 touchdowns, the defense scoring and 4 Castillo FGs. You aren't going to lose many games when you put up 40 points but generally the offense is putting up more than 7 of them. In the almost quarter and a half he was leading the offense yesterday, the only time the ball was inside the Saskatchewan 40 was while it was in the air into the waiting arms of a Rider DB or Returner. -
3DownNation is hit or miss IMO in some of their coverage but this made me chuckle https://3downnation.com/2025/09/06/winnipeg-blue-bombers-lose-banjo-bowl-zach-collaros-against-roughriders-12-other-thoughts/

https://www.bluebombers.com/ticket-swap/ I've never utilized it but AFAIK you call up the office and say you want to exchange your tickets to ones in the last two games and they make it happen, and your tickets go back into general sale. The frustrating thing with Willie is that he has shown flashes the past... 8 months. The Grey Cup he was lights out. In Week 9 he earned the highest PFF rank they've ever given out. And then who do you replace him with? At least some of the other underperforming veterans you have someone who can slide in or they are actually blocking someone better... which is probably a huge part of the problem.
-
Collaros wasnt playing great but at least he was able to run some plays inside the SSK 45 yard line. Looking at the play by play in the second half the offense had a 0 yard run by Brady at the 40 and Streveler threw a pick scrimmaging from the 43.

I think they would have to screw up EXCEPTIONALLY hard to not sell out the last two games. Huge season ticket base means there isn't a ton of inventory to sell plus the aforementioned party atmosphere... And those last two games are STM ticket exchange games

What more information do you need? He tore his ACL Last year. He came back, really ahead of schedule from most recommendations for ACL tears, less than 12 months. He plays a couple of games, has a non-contact injury on the same knee and is put on the 6 game. He appears again, wearing a brace, makes it through a couple weeks of practice, and the vast majority of a game and now is out for the season, and likely until labour day next year best case. O'Shea has come out and was like, yeah he tore it again in Calgary. The ACL provides stability in the knee joint but they try to augment what he has left with a huge ass brace. The medical staff tells him he probably can't do any additional damage. Schoen says he accepts the risks. O'Shea feels that a gimpy Schoen is the best option in the WR Corps. Schoen is a professional athlete, those cats are wired differently. Someone needs to be the adult in the room and protect him from himself. Whether it's the medical staff saying that this is dumb AF and refusing to clear him, O'Shea saying I know you feel you are ready to go but you need to take care of yourself, or Walters overruling them all and pulling the plug. Everyone likes to tout FIFO as some kind of positive mantra... but this is the negative side of it. Players putting their own health at risk and ultimately hurting the team long and short term. There have been WAY too many instances of players playing through significant injury and snookering the team.

If this were true there'd be some ******* in green in a picture at field level with a sound level meter and it would be all over social media.

Anyone notice that the Depth Chart the team has on their website has Schoen on the 6 game? No corresponding transaction yet but RIP I guess

What is the point of bringing in Houston and the extra eyes because of his situation (yes he was cleared by the authorities but the CFL ruled he DID violate the violence against women policy) and have him sit on the PR? Especially with Vaval as the main returner because Logan can't get right while also playing 50+ snaps on defense. What is the point of having Woods and Adams on the PR when you are going to cut the one DT in the league who is worse than JT and bring him back when someone who couldn't crack the opening week roster got 6-gamed?

Depth Charts for Friday are out and with Ottawa desperate for a win to keep pace in the East and trying to make up distance between themselves and BC in the crossover Dru Brown is sitting out with his knee injury again
