  1. The one thing that has always stuck out to me about Rourke was his last drive against the Bombers in the west finals... he was coming off an injury but seeing him only get off 5 plays in 95 seconds with the chance to tie the game in the CFL was something else. On two plays with the clock running he pretty much let the play clock hit 00s
  2. It's interesting if you look at the stats. In the Regular season he has clear MOP production but as soon as Fall rolls around (it's hard to tell his October production because the last time the Bombers played a meaningful fall regular season game was pre-pandemic) his numbers take a very noticeable dive. He's definitely playing like Playoff Collaros and not Regular Season Collaros right now.
  3. I'm not sure Brown is it either though. 115/184 for 1556 yards (a 8.5 YPA) and 5 TDs vs 4 INTS through 5.5 games vs. 113/173 for 1406 yards (a 8.1 YPA) and 2 TDS vs 7 INTS through 5.5 games The INTS are looking gross for Collaros compared to Brown... there must have been something special going on in the regular season last year to make them both look so good and then the slipper fell off when the regular season ended.
  4. Glad Yoshi got paid. The statement kind of feels like last year and the Riders with Harris, where after his Radial Tibial fracture they made it seem like he could be back at the end of the year... but at the end of the day there probably isn't a lot of optimistic data about a 300+ LB OL who is 34 coming back within 15 weeks from a Quad Injury that requires surgery. If it's a quad tear that is generally a 4-5 month injury.
  5. How many reps overall did he have last week? Was he just in with the short yardage package with Streveler? What is the split over the first 3 weeks? That doesn't seem like great strategy to trot a guy out and only run with him out there.
  6. So was it a non-contact injury for Schoen? It's amazing that you can play a game on Friday and have absolutely no news about an injury to one of the top receivers in the league!
  7. Just seems like a statistical anomaly at this point. Only other QB so far this season to start a game and not throw a TD is Bethel-Thompson last week. That Wolitarsky play is an interesting example because with Collaros not throwing TDs the WRs are obviously not catching TDs... catching the ball behind the 1st down marker and then making it almost another 16 yards to the house is probably a mark in their ledger as opposed to the QBs. Collaros' average depth of target was actually up a tad through 2 weeks of 2024 vs through 20 weeks in 2023 (12.3 depth yards per attempt vs 12.1) but everything else is way off... 3/14 and 0/2 vs 41/91 and 16/3. It's hard to find out this data before the league releases their pdf... glancing at the play-by-play his accuracy might actually improve at that distance because it looks like he went 1-3 (with the 1 being the 24 yarder that Demski got dinged up on)
  8. Yeesh its been 5 full games for Collaros without a TD. 3 to start this season, 0fer in the Grey Cup and 0fer in the West Final. When was the last time a bonafide starter had 5 straight full games of meaningful reps without managing a TD?
  9. We are complaining about Zach not getting enough time but Brown would be in the same situation. I guess you could say for the price of 1 Zach you could have Brown and have kept Hardrick but most people here were 100% in on Hardrick was on the decline. At least with Zach out there you can say he should have the experience to deal with this kind of line play.
  10. I think it would be weird to not have Collaros take any reps in preseason and then not let him try to work through his issues in game 1. Even Streveler only got 2 drives in on preseason... it kind of seemed like a whole offense issue rather than just the QB.
  11. I think Ouelette has 7 carries for 10 yards before Ferland got ejected, so he actually had considerably better numbers after that.
  12. Is Lawler's upper body injury his hand/wrist or his thorax?
  13. Looks like Alexander and Demski swapped passports?
  14. I think where the Bombers have been making up the distance in FA a bit is in playoff participation. I get that no one thinks you will be joining a team that is going to miss the playoffs but the difference between say a Bombers roster spot where they have had a very good run of success and the Redblacks where its not so much is $3400 for getting to the playoffs, another $3400 for getting to the semis, and then either $8000/$16000 for the runner up/winner of the Grey Cup. I think I had read that Bailey had a better offer on the table from the Riders last offseason, but they were sat at home in November and whoever was slotted into that WR4/5 spot for the Bombers was going to take home an extra $15K for their troubles (and were a few plays here and there away from an extra $8K)
  15. Picked up my season ticket package today and my kids Gold Club package for their 5 game pack... was kind of surprised that they each got a pair of free tickets for the preseason game. Was going to add that game anyways but the fact you can use those tickets ANYWHERE is pretty neat. They've been agitating about wanting to sit down in the lower bowl so now they finally can.
  16. It's weird to say that the Bombers have missed out on players because of ratio concerns because it's balanced out by playing an import somewhere else. So it's not even that you are better than the incumbent Canadian you are trying to displace, you have to better than the Canadian than another import is better than the typical Canadian at their position. You can argue that the Bombers have not really taken advantage of some of the new rules surrounding imports, but the players filling those spots likely aren't going to be higher level imports.
  17. Does anyone have any documentation that Jim Barker was fined for 'complaining about the schedule' or is he just making things up? A cursory google turns up two fines, one for comments critical of officiating after a game, and another for positioning himself near to an official at the goal line and trying to communicate with them during play. If Staffers flouted any rules (and anyone could cite those rules) I'm sure they would get fined... but in this case it would probably prompt a re-evaluation of those rules or those fines would never actually be paid by the staffer. I also imagine the league has different levers against high level executives and the freakin' general manager of a team vs an internal manager of web and digital content or a teams director of branding.
  18. It could also point to more systemic rot within the Argos, where the player was fearful of reprisal from management/coaching. Sad as it is, the complainant had a longer career with the Argos than most currently rostered players will.
  19. Looks like someone leaked the executive summary that was provided to the Argos/CFL. Surprised the by-line here is Naylor and not Westhead tbh https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/dave-naylor-independent-investigation-corroborates-three-of-six-allegations-against-chad-kelly-1.2118960
  20. If the Argos were to just come out and be decisive about this I think people would have less issues with it. Do I think that he should still be employed based on his actions? Probably not but the league has meted out a 9 game suspension. If the Argos were to say something like "Kelly has been suspended by the league for his actions for 9 games. We have discussed the matter with him and we are confident that he will exceed all the requirements for his reinstatement after week 9. Per the CBA, he is allowed to join in our preseason activities and he will be a full participant as our expectation is he will be our QB in week 10". I think that would make them seem more reasonable... and that they are actually taking any of this seriously. It's the media silence, and then him just slinking into practice that people are having issues with.
  21. Did I accidently walk into a Chappelle show sketch or something The complaint contains references to events that was witnessed by numerous people. What do you think is contained in the 87 page report that was generated? What everyone was having for breakfast that day? There is no legal hurdle the league has to clear here. By his actions they've determined he's violated their Violence against Women policy and has been disciplined as such. The CFLPA will have something to say about it, but it probably won't be in regards to the minimum length of it... more to the fact that as it's written it can be interpreted as an indefinite suspension... although there is precedent for such suspensions in sports leagues now thanks to Draymond Green in the NBA.
  22. This is a rough, rough take. I guess she should have just quit her job 2 years ago because boys will be boys and she wouldnt be in this predicament. I've seen this constantly in management. Kick the can down the road because you are sure the woman is going to tough it out because she doesn't want to be seen as weak or just hope she eventually quits on her own and the problem goes away. There is no doubt in my mind had they extended her contract and changed her role subtlety to minimize her contact with Kelly she would have stuck through with it for 2024 as well, and if this same thing happened in that off season it would be "well why was it so bad now and not in 2022, or 2023, or 2024". This is a tale as old as time and has been happening in pretty much every male dominated industry and then people cry out "why isn't there more diversity in our workplace, why is there so few female applicants or why do they never last" and it's like no **** why. I've fired Software Developers before because they couldn't keep their comments about female co-workers to themselves and the workplace was better off for it.
  23. People who suggest someone might make an accusation like this just for attention blows my mind. To compare an acrimonious divorce to this, which would be very localized, to making an accusation against a very public figure isn't even like comparing two fruits together. As soon as this story broke it reminded me of the story that came out a number of years ago locally about a sexual harassment human rights issue https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2014/11/29/taking-a-stand-against-abuse Look at the abuse this poor woman received as a result of her complaint, and add 10 more years of people being terminally online and instead of a local board game store have it be a MOP QB and what do you think could be going on with her right now.
  24. To be honest there probably wasn't even a coverup. It sounds like she reported it to Murphy between Nov 6th (the private confrontation where she told Kelly not to speak to her about anything non-work related and he allegedly reacted... poorly) and Nov 10th (where she found out that he allegedly had indicated to someone that she was fortunate he hadn't physically harmed her). Their last game was Nov 11th and I can't imagine there was much activity for a S+C coach between then and when she didn't have her contract renewed on January 29th. He probably thought it was a problem he could just make go away with inaction. The Argos will probably spin it such that Murphy was a bad actor who didn't follow policies and will be disciplined accordingly and then some fuzzy PR work.
