I don't think kicking it through the endzone on a FG should result in 1 point because it doesn't allow the other team to advance it out, therefore no point should be awarded for simple kicking it out... If you think that's fundamental to our game , then we'll simply have to disagree.
No one wants to change what makes the CFL great and no one is saying just get rid of the rouge altogether and be like the NFL or XFL or anything else. Every league is constantly looking at changes to make things safer, more entertaining, etc. This is no different.
I agree with you about the NFL and it's direction which is why I also love the CFL,  but that doesn't mean I think we should never change anything either. We can change things without becoming the NFL or some other shitty league.

So I don’t mind it if it’s caught in the end zone and returnable then it gives the option of return or give up the point. But a straight miss that goes through I find silly. That’s a direct miss, doesn’t give an option for a return.

No discussion allowed! Either everybody thinks the same way or the odd man out is completely wrong! (This is sarcasm by the way)

Many here saying it rewards a good drive and not a failure is understandable but with athletes getting better and better, what's considered 'close enough' to kick for the rouge will keep being further and further back. Others say , ' it doesn't happen that often so who cares' which is true but there are many things that might not happen in a game that are still dealt with in the rulebook. To simple ignore it and let it be, means you are opening yourself up to future issues.
What I don't like is being called less of a fan of the CFL if I'm in support of a somewhat minor rule change. I understand the roots of the game and appreciate them, but that doesn't mean they can't ever be changed or one day be outgrown. We don't have to totally get rid of the Rouge, but its also okay to look at it and have the discussion.

Well it all started the other day when this was brought into the thread and I stated my opinion. Scary I know. When people question, I’ll defend it and so on and so on. You dont have to like it or agree with it, but don’t go projecting your view on something because someone said something you disagree with. It’s a thread made for discussion, just gotta deal with it sometimes.

    Exactly!
I see people's points and they make sense, but I've always enjoyed the NFL better without the single point. I think it rewards skill to have it just 3 for a FG and 6 for a TD. Either your kicker makes it and you get 3 or he misses and the other team takes over at the spot of the FG try.  Either way though I'll always love the CFL better then the NFL overall. It's just the one thing I don't like about the game. The NFL has its own issues...

I don’t disagree with you at all, but this really is more that I just find the single point silly on missed field goals and nothing about nfl vs cfl

I like the single points as they make things interesting. I also like the run backs from the end zone on missed FG's. You'd lose both if a missed FG didn't result in any points. Personally, I wouldn't want to lose either, but I understand the idea that missing a FG being seen as rewarding failure, especially when it happens on a 20 yard try.
I'd change the rule to no point if the ball goes through the end zone without being touched. That keeps the run backs and the 1 point while eliminating the point for shorter missed FG's.

But it’s not really a reward for a missed touchdown. The team still had a down and can go for it. The single point on a missed field goal is a direct reward for a miss.

If Edmonton Eskimos president Chris Presson gets his way there could be a new wrinkle to the CFL on TSN broadcasts this season.
If you’ve watched any of the XFL games, or an AAF game last season before they folded, odds are you’ve noticed those leagues have handled video replay differently from a broadcast perspective.
Unlike the current set up for the CFL and NFL where broadcasts generally go to commercial breaks, in the XFL you can hear the conversation between the official on the field and the video replay official.
In Presson’s mind, giving the viewers the chance to hear the conversation brings a breath of honesty to video review.
Presson can push for change because he’s a part of the CFL’s innovation committee, the same group that’s looking at potentially changing the CFL playoff format.

Forget Jones...the CFL is going to have a hard time signing draft picks at that mandated contract. A guy won’t be a free agent for 3 years and basically has to take the minimum salary the whole time?  There are guys who will retire from football and guys who will exhaust any and all options outside of the CFL first at those numbers.
An extremely stupid overreaction to a few draft picks being overpaid.

Folks around here are assuming that we're going to see the defence that played the last 4 or 5 games this year, rather than the one that showed up for the rest of the season. This is after losing 2 great DB's, who were the strength of the D and half the D line that allowed the DB's to cover tight for very short periods of time and not worry about the deep ball because it took too much time.
Folks are also assuming that Buck will be as good or better than PLAP. He'll do all the good things AND change things so the receivers will be able to get open deep AND open up the playbook AND make all the right decisions when we're ahead or behind. Collaros will play most of the games and the raw McGuire will have no problems coming in and playing when he has to. Heck, he'll be better than Streveler.
The ironic part is no one sees themselves being just like Rider fans.

I have no problem if the media calls Hamilton a super team.   They have great players,  great coaching and made a lot of good moves in the off season.
What I have an issue with is when Taylor claims that the Riders are a super team despite them losing a lot of good players and doing nothing to replace them.  Signing Maas was a good move but nobody outside of Taylor thinks that the crap they signed will make them a better team this season.
