    1. Congrats Noeller, all the best.
    2. Nichols rarely takes the blame. Its always his receivers or covered or I played well. He didn't admit he played brutal in the Banjo Bowl last year.

No problem, lol...  You know, as much as I use to despise Nichols I have to admit that during games 3, 4, and 5 he showed me that me can be quite a capable QB when given a better game plan to execute. He'll never be an elite QB but he can be good enough to get job done.
i truly believe that Lapo doesn't trust him. After the INT in against the Ti-Cats Lapo really dumbed down the offense, back to what we became accustom to in 2018, way too predictable and playing under the chains in that dink and dunk passing scheme. If you notice, in both of our losses  Harris was the number 1 targeted receiver, again, much like last year.
in those three games, 3, 4, and 5, he did show that his weaknesses could be lessened with a more dynamic game plan, one that gets everyone involved with layered pass routes which created space for the receivers to work and larger throwing windows for Nichols. I have no clue how Lapo or O'Shea can't see this and give him more of the same.
we had a balance offensive attacked that kept the defense off balance and having to actually work to stop us. That us, until we had a decent lead and Lapo went to his prevent offense, lol.
I'm rooting for Nichols though, there's too much talent on this team to let it all go to hell in a hand basket....

Of all the good things you can credit Nichols for, and those things do exist, the guy rarely owns his own poor performances. Even when he was getting credit for his comments after the Hamilton loss for seemingly owning up to a bad game, it felt an awful lot like he was blaming fluky circumstances for his bad throws. The whole “that doesn’t happen more than once in 10,000 throws” thing was clearly him trying to justify his backbreaking interceptions. Even if the actual comment is factual (and it clearly isn’t) it would be nice to hear him take sole responsibility. He often rushes to the “receivers weren’t open” excuse.
And I find the sentiment that he deserves respect because he’s “our QB” and gives the team and the city his all on the field more than a little bit silly. He’s a professional football player. You’d like to think that every player, if not the distinct majority is giving it their all. It’s not for the city or the fans, this is his job. And if a person is doing their job poorly, I’m not going to give them a break because they tried their best. I’ll give him credit when he performs well, but he deserves to be derided when he’s poor. And unfortunately for us, that’s more often than not.

Just rattling your chains a bit.. LOL. I still think Nichols can get it done but my confidence that he can is greatly shaken. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, though. I also have come to realize that our HC is one of the most stubborn people out there. He'll continue to play Nichols, no matter how bad he plays & he won't play Streveler even if the team is up big or down big just to give him playing time. We have an offensive coordinator who goes for broke when the score is close then inexplicably goes back into his protective play calling shell & sits on 14 point leads. Meanwhile, our DC calls blitz packages & never varies from them even if the other qb recognizes & kills us. Or plays a soft zone & suddenly 350 yards passing  is thrust upon us. I can't do a thing to stop what O'Shea does as a coach so why should I worry about it? Getting bent out of shape just seems so exhausting.

But, if it were true, in the most important game of the year, the Western Finals, you think your best shot of winning is going with an injured QB? If so, you do it because of experience, but you stay with him the entire game when you have a cable back up on the sidelines and are playing for a chance in the Grey cup?

I think its the way theyve lost the games that most people are panicking about. No one would be complaining if they lost a 31-30 hard fought game against Hamilton with Masoli and Nichols trading punches. Its the fact that happy-feet hot garbage Nichols is back and the once stout defense is giving up huge yards to clowns like MBT.

I'm not buying the whole 'Nichols was injured at the end of the year' thing... If he were, Nichols would have been more than happy to offer that up to the media and fans as an excuse. That's exactly what he did at the end of the 2017 season...
no one from the team ever eluded to this possibility, no media member ever brought it up as a possibility, or questioned Nichols about if he was injured or had any lingering effects due to prior injuries that may be effecting his game play...
the only people that ever hinted at a injury for Nichols at the end of 2018 were fans....

The infuriating thing about Nichols is that he has shown that he can do it. But will he? He is like a strip-tease performer- shows you enough to get excited but not enough to satisfy.

In the past issues with Nichols have been around production consistency. He'd disappear for half's at a time. But played his best ball late in games and post season. Now while thats still an issue, his biggest issue is lack of poise when pressured.
That problem is much more worry some. He's gone from a sub elite qb that would flash being better here n there to playing at or below replacement level.
Baring injury it would take some thing extreme for the Canadian mafia to make  a change this season.
And while I like streveler I haven't seen the step forward from him this year as a passer he needs to take.

My concern with Streveler is that he's only checking the ball down and that's Lapolice's lack of trust.  This is a problem for all of our QB's right now, including Nichols.  At times there's a lot of movement in the backfield, misdirection, creative deceptive run plays, play action, rollouts.  This is when our offense hums.  This is when playing QB for the Bombers is very easy.  Then we go to 5-6 possessions of Harris dives, bellies and stretch/search runs (which Harris is awful at, never has been good at, the east-west find a hole runs) and straight dropbacks with very little misdirection or PA.  This is when we can't get a first down.  This is when our QB's struggle.
The way Lapolice preps for each week we won't see a playbook for Streveler unless he is starting.  Lapolice installs the plays for the starter and what he anticipates calling in the game, so Streveler's short-yardage package is in there too.  So if Streveler comes in he's running a ton of dropbacks, very little option stuff aside from the straight run option plays available for the set Lapo has for him with Nichols playing (we saw him run the same pitch option QB power play 3 times after Nichols went out).  Lapolice is a Plan A game prep kind of OC/play caller.  Personally I think this is a huge problem because as we see week after week, there's a high probability that you will need more than 1 QB to finish any game.

The point for me is, we’ve seen this movie a million times with Nichols. He’s bad for a stretch, has a good or even great game and everyone says “he’s back to 2017!” and things largely go back to the way they were before. Bad performance are always an anomaly with him, even when they outweigh the positive ones.
I don’t dispute that this team can win with Nichols. If any roster in the league can overcome poor QB play, it’s this one. It’s just hard to be overly optimistic when outside of the occasional great game, Nichols seems to be getting worse and not better. Is Streveler the answer? I can’t say that. I like him but I’m far from convinced he’s the long term option. I’d absolutely give him the start against Toronto with Nichols coming off concussion protocol because we could probably start you or I at QB and beat this Argos team. I also think it’s important to see what Streveler provides at this point with an offence that is actually tailored to him because ultimately, a long term and important QB decision has to be made for this team this offseason.
I realize there is no option beyond Nichols or Streveler this season and if Nichols proves me wrong and plays like he did against Ottawa more than he plays like he did against Edmonton, I’ll  be thrilled. I’d rather be wrong about Nichols and the team is amazing than right about him and the team struggles.

I'd ask you the same question, what is wrong with you? the post that you quoted has absolutely nothing to do with Toronto and I'm not sure as to why you would imply that it did. If you were to go back and look you'd see that post was a reply  to  blueingreenland when he attempted to justify Nichols' stats, or lack there of, were due to his role as a 'game manager'...  so I felt compelled to let him know that maybe that wasn't one of his strong points either...
