I'm with you on this... but his arm mechanics are actually terrible and his numbers are terrible - just saying that if you held Streveler up to the scrutiny and that you're holding other to then it doesn't look 'great'
With ANY of these guys, you get the right OC and right mentor (in the coaching staff or on the field) and they can be a starter... look at Vernon Adams - he was written off before Khari resurrected him

Whatever way you slice it, you need a vet and a Strev, or a vet and and Arbuckle...an Arbuckle and Strev is too risky, and they don't have vet leadership to watch/learn from or ask questions...and thats huge. Arbuckle has shown well...but so did Evans and when it got time to play in the nitty gritty...he wilted...and Evans is a better QB than Arbuckle at moment.
So a smart man will say it will be Strev and.....Nichols or Collaros with whomever we don't sign in Ottawa..and If Collaros does end up in T.O then one of MBT or Franklin is in Ottawa with Lapo
This notion in people minds that Streveler can't pass is ludicrous, and of Nichols..Collaros and Arbuckle has the stronger arm...and put back in a conventional QB scheme where he uses his legs to buy time..escape pocket or take off if need be...and not as his main use...he will surprise many,

People tend to forget that Streveler also had almost 800 rushing yards as while... he was what, 6th or 7th in total the in the league? Like it was said above, once Lapo found out what kind of runner 17 could be that became his role...
nichols on the other hand has potential but tends to rely way too heavily on limited number of what he considers trusted targets and the check down... Lapo only compounded this problem with his play calling and the way he used receivers.
also, Nichols isn’t a very accurate thrower despite his Completion percentage...  Nichols throws a lot of balls high, low, or wide which really kills the chance of yards after the catch... sure, they are within the receivers catch radius but not a good ball that could allow a receiver to advance often.... also, while not his fault, look at how many throws are to a receiver that is stationary or running a version of a come back... again, significantly reduces the chance of YAC...
I’m on the road right now but I’ve got some interesting info to continue my point when I get back to the house... can’t stand posting from my phone, lol...

That's the thing..he was showing and doing well as a typical QB when we first had to play him..but when his run abilities were discovered..well we changed our use of him..put him back to being a QB..but one who "can" run...lookout

Had he not played the year before and shown really well then I think a whole bunch of people would be writing him off.    That first season when given plays where he can pass the ball he did show  very well.

Against **** competition... once he started playing against real defenses look what happened.
Also it's typical for Offenses to click earlier before a defense will gel.
Before he was hurt people on here were calling for Strev to replace him for the 2nd year in a row....

It was the Harley Race camp that got Kenny discovered by WWE.  He used to have a yearly camp that included NOAH (Japan) scouts and WWE usually sent someone as well.  It was a bit of a work because there was a cost for indy guys to do it and they'd separate the talent into two groups (Advanced & Beginners).  The indie guys would all be put in beginners and Race's guys into advanced so they got more heavily scouted.
So Kenny goes down there and is put in the beginners group.  Trevor Murdoch, a Race guy, sees this and tells Kenny to go into the advanced class.  Johnny Ace was there and immediately offered Kenny a WWE try out.  He was flown to Georgia for the try out and signed right after.
As I recall, Johnny Ace said Kenny reminded him of Brian Pillman.  Kenny does a great Race impression.

great story... brought back memories of when I was little and watched wrestling, lol... we had the NWA that aired at 10:30 pm on Saturday nights out of Kansas City, a regional deal... wrestlers like Handsome Harley Race, Bulldog Bob Brown, Danny Littlebear, Rufus R. Jones, etc...  KC had their own version of your mom, Mertie and Gertie Hite, twins who sat in the first row every week and would hit the wrestlers they didn't like with their purses, lol...
in fact, after retiring from wrestling Race actually opened a wrestling academy a short 20 miles from me in Eldon, MO from '99 to 2014 when he moved it to Troy, MO...

I can definitely see Maas here in a Co-OC role with Buck if he doesn't get a HC job from Ed or Ottawa.
He said before the Grey Cup that Osh is one of his best friends.
He is a good OC , IMO

Hard to say but almost sounds like a guy weighing whats best for him to win, and be safe, and be in a good environment, as well as having wifes input in perhaps thinking more of self preservation now, as opposed to convenience, as they said been in some bad situations previous and look to avoid
Amazing what a solid organization from top to bottom will do, as well as chance of winning, and obviously as from his mouth itself the fact we have a dominant and strong o-line which he loved playing behind and sees that as a reason to stay safe and possibly injury free...and really if he is used in same way as he was with Strev he's less likely to take that one shot that could KO him...his rep load alone at being 50-60 percent of norm could do wonders for him in terms of cumulative hits over course of season, and I think Strev would learn a lot more, and develop a lot better watching and playing behind/with Collaros...will be interesting to see how this shakes out

The only thing better than that throw was O'Shea's description of it on the Coach's Show last night....

The audio isn't up yet and I'll direct quote him when it is but he said (paraphrase), "it's a perfect throw OVER THE CROSSBAR..."

Regardless of what we as individuals think of Masoli, he's much more highly regarded as a QB than Nichols is. And if you're going by what they've accomplished over their careers to this point, Collaros has a Grey Cup and an MOP with similar to slightly better numbers than Nichols. By either definition Nichols is cleraly not the most "established" QB on the market.

Lapo has been, and always will be a notorious cautious overly safe coach..not prone to taking chances and risks...luckily the last few years he had a Harris..Medlock and a real good o-line to compensate for it, and squeeze the most out of the offence in terms of points..can't see that narrative changing, especially in his first bit as the new HC...He is going to want to minimize errors and turn overs and not give his team chances to screw up...could be a slow start there for them..
You could even see at times here the last year and a bit guys frustrated with play calls and the end result, and some guys loafing it at times as they knew they were just window dressing...and teams at times totally ignored our guys knowing there was not going to be a ball headed to them
Pierce's offence is going to come out strong, because teams will not be used to a lot of the knew wrinkles we are gonna show, or how guys are going to be used...This as well should have a huge impact on a Whitehead/Grant in the offence, and hopefully Woli

Ottawa has a good field goal kicker, and so that will help when Lapo calls a three yard out on the 20 yard line on 2nd and 7.  5 times a game.

and most likely be his demise in the end...happy for him but he seems to me like the kind of coach who needs to focus on one..or the other and doing both overwhelms him..well it's what happened before...has he changed?..guess we will see..he won't have the pieces there to lean on that he did here

Dave Dickensen called a game losing, go for fifteen yard pass for the TD on a third and short in the semi final that kind of clinched their loss.
As a Bomber fan, I liked that call.
Curious about who Lapo will recruit to coach in Ottawa. Probably Mr Dyce will stay.
