Well my first and most obvious question would be to ask who it is in Toronto who is calling the shots right now? Word on the street is that Murphy was on the outs, so I actually don't know who is steering the Good Ship Argonaut right now.
Allen was effective but expensive. We have lots of good O-Line guys including a few who just got here and can do a job (Doxtater, Moore) so with the number of guys who are top FAs, the deck was always going to get shuffled. Dejon is about 30 so he'll have a few nice productive years, he's a west coast guy and BC can tell their star at QB that they're doing what they can to get him an O-line. Likely has nothing to do with anything, but Allen did almost get Kelly killed in the playoffs against Ottawa.
And, Isaiah Cage is a free agent too...
Not sure if Varga is a starter or not, but most of our National linebackers got played as a starter at some point last season. As it stands we have Cassar, Sopik(FA), Adeleke (FA), & Varga. So maybe Varga is a hedge against possibly losing Sopik if someone pulls out their chequebook?
Ceresna, Brinkman, Smith, McManis, Amos, Metchie, McFadden, Priester... some our FAs on D
Grant, Haggerty... on Teams
Arbuckle, Cage, Rice, Mackellar, Carey, Coxie... on O
Freeing up salary and churning the roster happens. And the last few years we haven't done a lot of our signings until later on, so I'll try not to let it bug me as I watch good players get poached one by one.
Did you not watch Varga last year? Guy is a starter, probably at WLB.

i really don't care about other teams. I care about the Bombers. Am I supposed to be impressed by this? That Dinwiddie followed O'Shea's roster decisions by playing more Canadians than he could have? Not really. I didn't see a Canadian starter on the Argos even remotely close to the ineffectiveness of Jake Thomas. The Argos roster of Canadians were better than ours. It gave them flexibility. Our starting Canadians (in certain positions) hurt us.
Other than Thomas, which other one hurt you.
Wasn't Ford
Wasn't Kramdi
What hurt you guys was a QB, who cut the finger on his throwing hand.

I will disagree, the last two seasons at least we've brought in a whole lot of players who are barely depth level players in the league. I can't think of anyone new that is remotely close to being considered an all star level of talent. The d-line and lbers have rotated in and out with very little success. The punter is god awful. The o-line has aged and the only new blood that saw lots of play time is a Rider cut. Our import talent has been a whole lot of meh. Our Canadian talent has looked as good as it has in the past so I will say for that part we are doing a good job of bringing in fresh faces that can make plays.
Exactly, look at your past draft. Wallace should take over for Neufeld at RG. Clercius should be starting in the recieving corps. Samson will rotate with Lawson at DT. Not to mention, hopefully Hubert will get another chance. That is a decent haul.

I dont think that happens any time soon. I think we got a couple years. Plus if buck leaves it gives him the opportunity to become ast hc in a year or two. I fully believe he will continue to hone his craft as a dc and not rush.
Hubert dropped off hard for several games before getting parked on the pr. He looked to hit the wall to me. I was surprised he didn’t get a shot to come off though. It is surprising he didn't get another shot. He was good a setting the edge and keeping contain.

Not every one will be ready for this and that’s understandable. But we will definitely need a shot of positivity around here this off season.
With that in mind here are some things I look forward to with the bombers in a positive light only.
Terry Wilson. I was extremely impressed by how poised and in control he was when he came in. Stepped up in the pocket, kept his eyes down field when pressured and threw with authority. He has Great arm talent, and athleticism. But the mental side of him looks legit too. I look forward to seeing him progress next year.
another Canadian draft. We really cleaned up in this last draft, which was a strong draft to be fair. So I don’t expect us to replicate that success, but adding another piece or two to the AR will be huge for our NI depth.
On that note, our rookie Canadians did better than I expected this year. I can’t wait to see big kev with another tc under his belt, think Wallace will be poised to take a starting spot next year, mci came a very long way as a blocker too. I hope to see a good chunk of pre season reps for mci to play rb so we can see what he has and let him develop. He went from a guy out of place on an AR to a solid FB in one season and that’s pretty good.
Kelly, I think he has a sneaky good chance of becoming our starting S next year. Imagine 3 starting Canadian dbs? Never thought I’d see that on a good team.
tyjuan garbutt really turned a corner late. He isn’t the instant dominant pass rusher we need, but he’s a damn good two way end who plays with discipline. Imo he’d be excellent as a di rotational back up next year.
Ayers and Cole. I’d love to see more of Ayers at mac and Cole at wil. Both guys are monsters on teams just scratching at their potential but are still a lot of fun to watch.
Devin adams. Such an incredible athlete and raw talent. Gonna be awesome to watch him in his first full camp.
Woods. Our best dl for my money all year. Guys a beast who can play a bunch of inside positions and some edge especially in the 30 front. Only 25 years old and the sky is the limit.
can lawson and schoen the return. Nuff said. Love what both these guys bring.
Owen Hubert. Really over achieved early. Hit the rookie wall hard. But showed a ton of lunch box type stuff that could make him a very valuable rotational piece next year.
The majority of the secondary as well. Holm and Kramdi stepped up big, griffin and bonds were excellent Nichols was my modp for us and ford legit would’ve been moc in the league most years. How do you improve on that? Well Nichols is the only guy at 30. So another year could bring improvement for each of those guys.
JY. Through some early struggles he really turned a rag tag group of guys into an elite pass defence. I can’t imagine what more he has in store with a year of growth and prep.
The Linbacking corps has a bright future.
WLB: Ayers, Wilson, Cole
MLB: ?
SLB: Kramdi, Griffths

Stupidity and the fact that people put experience over talent.

exactly...and his eyes have seen it all.....if BA is parked...and no offence to him but hope he is..Taylor inserted there and leave everyone else alone is the smart move......and also the best...Play off football now...U can't afford rookie blunders now.....and we all know Osh will play his vets till a limb falls off even if they not the best choice.....so Taylor in should be a no brainer?...He wasn't brought in this late for a "look" toward 2025
That being said Osh has a bad history of playng guys with missing limbs or ones that don't work...so BA at safety for the WF/WSF won't shock me in the least....sadly....And I am sure Wilson will be there too...rusty...not in game shape....and likely not 100 percent
What about veteran blunders. Plus Kelly isn't a rookie.

The funny thing about Ford for MODP... is I'm not even sure he's the second best DB on our team... nevermind the best
He's definitely the best. Holm hasn't looked the same. Bonds is good, but I wouldn't say better. Everyone is hating on Alexander and I can't even name your boundary defensive halfback.

We have totally now integrated Griffin...Bonds...Cole....Ayers and Jones as solid pieces going into camp next yr....Woods...Adams and even tho we havn't seen much of him Fox are 3 guys we can totally build around and if we get a legit DE to compliment WJ and allow him to be rotated to be effective and play more pure get after the QB work....and a solid 3rd guy in one of Garbutt/Person.....As I think Haba has kinda taken a step back/and or isn't still 100 percent we will be looking good going into 2025....youth....and experience now
Lawson taking Thomas right out of the equation would be the ideal Nat guy to rotate in....and Like to see us just start Ford as the only National, so we can sub/roate in guys at will.
No O'Shea understands talent. Kramdi will be starting at SLB for years to come. Great seeing Canadian talent succeed.

Of course they need it. They could've done the tired old, we must play a Canadian at Safety, instead they went with one at CB and SLB.
What import has been more impactful than Ford.
Kramdi has been a top 3 SLB in the league this year. He's third in the league for tackles for loss. He's second in sacks for his position. Teams tend to throw away from his zone.

That's wpgs title. I'm doubtful anyone comes close to WPG this season.
Betts doesn't play in the playoffs.
Depending on the draft yr. I'd argue yes the picks are worth more. But that's really getting into the nit picky area of things. Their pushing for a home GC appearance so I get the all out mentality.
Their were games where BC was starting 10 and 11 Canadians.

Meh testing numbers. I don’t really get this move. We’ve got both halletts, Kelly, plus karamoko all for depth. Even weitz is comparable size/athleticism roster filler.
If we liked this kid a lot why not have had him in camp? It's probably more to do with him playing the SLB position in college. Depth is a good thing.

By far the best DL rotation we’ve rolled out all season. I really think Gauthier is a weak link out there in the line backing core. The defense looks almost perfect otherwise.
Gautier is underrated. Their is a reason O'Shea didn't bring in some yank off the street to start.

To me, the definition of a True Canadian in the CFL is someone born in Canada and only played 3 Down football their entire life.
I'm not saying I don't like other types of quasi Canadians. Lord knows I'm a huge Woogie fan. But he's not a real Canadian... And that's fine.
I believe people hyping up Rourke as this "OMG A CANADIAN PLAYING QB IN THE CFL?!?!" are doing a great disservice to people like Tre Ford, who only ever played up north. Rourke isn't such a unicorn... Based on his training, he's no different from any other rando American QB that comes up here...
That's a terrible definition. I understand not classifying Dublanko, Curtis, Singleton as Canadians.
All things considered...
in Blue Bomber Discussion
Exactly, the index finger on the throwing hand is the most important finger. Their was no spin on his throws. The backup couldn't have been worse.
