PFF on the argos offensive line last week.
• Left tackle Isiah Cage had a stellar week against the Blue Bombers last week. His 84.4 run-blocking grade was the fourth-highest single-week mark of any offensive lineman in the CFL this season.
• The usually uber-reliable Dejon Allen had by far his worst pass-blocking game of the season. Coming into the week, he had not earned a pass-blocking game grade below 77.0. He finished with a 28.4 mark in Week 8.
• The left side of the offensive line played solidly in pass protection. Cage (75.5), Hunter (70.3) and Nicastro (78.2) earned 70.0-plus pass-blocking grades on 29 snaps.
If i'm reading this correctly Hubert/Garbutt dominated their guy who underperformed his typical level whereas Thomas and Jefferson were dominated.
Its somewhat not surprising that Jefferson and Garbutt switched ends on the depth chart. I'm hoping that the easier assignments will have squeeze a little bit more juice out of Jefferson.----------------------------
I think PFF does a very reasonable job. Its impossible for anyone outside their own team to grade 100% accurately because other teams or PFF ect need to predict what a player's assignment was.
Not really how it works. I believe Hubert and Garbutt lined up as the strong side defensive end. That means they would've gone up against both tackles.

Two Cdns get hurt and we replace them with Americans because we were starting a million Cdns previously. Has Osh changed?
Just need Eli to start over Kolo and we may have a serviceable o-line.
I don't know if they can now. Doesn't Naturalized American have to be shown on the depth chart. You must start 8 Canadians, in which the 8th could be a Naturalized American, but he's not declared on the depth like other teams.

It could only help Wallace in his growth and give Neufeld some rest so "if" by some chance we make the play offs he will be more healthy to play.
I would sit Neufeld in the playoffs, for the younger Wallace.

We could actually start five American OL without changing the ratio.
Demski, Woli, Oliveira, Clercius, Ford, Kramdi, and Thomas would still be our starting 7 Canadians and Stanley Bryant, Willie Jefferson, Bighill, or BA could all count as the 8th (nationalized American).
Not that we even have 5 American OL in house... Just saying it's possible.
No need to start 5 American Olinemen. Wallace and Eli should be given chances first. Wallace is the future at RG and should replace Neufeld this season.
1 hour ago, Booch said:we could go Bryant...Eli at center...some stud import guard...the best of Wallace/Dobson at other....Keep Lofton and if we start Woli/Demski/BO as well then we only need Ford as a "starter", and a guy on every down rotating at either SAM...or on Dline...Heck even give Kramdi some safety reps...or morph him into a safety....easily doable
We dont have to be running out sets with 2 National dlineman...and Kramdi...and Ford.....and sometimes 3 national Dlineman....That whole way we been doing things is pointless....dumb....and sacrifices talent and an aggressive defense for......man I dont even know what for other than an Osh preference
Kramdi is fine at SAM. He proved you wrong last game.

2 sacks and a tackle for loss for Kramdi.

Their real strength was our defense in 2019 & 21. Teams found it hard to run, pass & especially score on us back then. We put a ton of pressure on the pass rush. Then, Walters just let that great defense age out & wither away. Stove hasn't played for us since 2021. Three years later, we still haven't found his replacement. Walters refused to go after any nose guards or D Ends in free agency. So, here we are.
It used to be our offense would outscore the other guys. Now, we can't do that anymore. They saw this coming. THEY HAD TO!! God Almighty, that's the job of the HC, GM & Scouts. To see & recognize when players need to be replaced. Yet, very little was done.
We keep guys like Jake Thomas & let Janarion Grant & Rasheed Bailey go to free agency. Coaches favourites still play. What the Hell happened to the decision making on this team? How has it been allowed to come down to this?
He didn't need to go after nose guards. You have Lawson, Samson, Smekel. DEs yes.

Streveler isn't the answer either. Trade for Tre.

Too bad about MCI. He had been playing well the last couple weeks.
Nice to see Garbutt in the lineup, as well as Jones…. If he actually gets some D reps.
Not sure why Whitehead isn’t out there this week.
Still don’t like zero changes to the Oline, but I wasn’t expecting any.
Also, am I counting correctly and we still have 11 starting Canadians?
10 this week, Hubert is back to a backup.

Parker is still here, just hurt so we haven't really lost him. You could say Bond replaced Houston since he's covering the side of the field that Demerio did.
The side that Parker was playing was a bit of a revolving door last year (Parker, Rose, Lawrence, Daramy-Swaray). Ford has locked up that spot so there's an upgrade even though it wasn't from scouting.
Ford was an upgrade from scouting. You do know drafted Players are scouted? Teams just don't throw darts randomly at a board.

So Garbutt even at a minimum salary will have to wait for his 6 games to expire while we go essentially a man short on the defensive line again. Yes im disrespecting Ogbevoen.
I'm counting 11 Canadian starters at least 4 of which would be easily upgraded by a replacement level american. Not true. Just because they're American doesn't mean they're an upgrade. Clercius deserves to start over any American rookie.

Hamilton's problem is defence not offence. They are middle of the pack on O scoring 24.8 per game, but they give up 33.8 a game, last in the CFL.
BLM is 2nd in passing yards and first in passing TD's. He's not the problem this year.
BLM needs to show up.in the first half of games.

Suitor and Barker both need to go. LaPo would actually be a good replacement for Suitor. I really liked his work when he did colour for a few games last year.
Lapo's playbook videos are great. He would make an excellent colour commentator.

The annoying part about all of this is we could literally be starting 4 americans on the offensive line if we wanted to right now and we choose not to start even one additional offensive lineman.
What's you shouldn't because you have capable backups in Eli and Walkace who should be starting.

Gray is a better tackle than guard. Teams need to stop putting Canadians with a tackle body at guard.

TSN really would be more watchable if they got rid of old man barker and suitor. Suitor just out to lunch on everything he says. Zach was throwing for 350 400 yards he says. Umm when. Barker, every time he talks I don’t know whether I should pee in his mouth. He’s so old school, it’s just not a good look. Dude is beyond fried in the head. Barker rubs me as a guy who just , let’s just say i think he encourages stupid behaviour
I was watching the draft and you could see the confusion on Forde and Ferguson faces everytime Barker said something.

Some random thoughts:
At times Canada v. Venezuela was more exciting.
When was the last time Bighill or Alexander used their arms as part of their tackling technique?
I’m not sure of the number of plays Thomas got but he looked ok last night.
The ability of Steveler to run opened things up for Oliveira. There were some nice blocks by Streveler, too. However, I don’t know how long he can take the added pounding before something breaks.
I don’t know anything about QBs’ throwing mechanics but Streveler’s still look odd.
The corners and the halfbacks looked a lot better. I like Booch’s idea of moving Holm to safety. He seems to have good closing speed certainly a heck of a lot faster than Alexander and he can tackle. Not that O’Shea will pull Alexander. Are there competent guys in reserve to move to the halfback spot?
Not much to say about Kramdi that hasn’t already been said other than too small, too slow and maybe doesn’t have a high football IQ. We use that term in hockey. Don’t know if it’s used in football.
Special teams are improving although I’m still not sold on Sheahan. Miller’s systems getting ingrained?
Castillo was right about those micro-chipped balls, more like macro-chipped. He has been excellent since those two early “misses”
Calgary is no great shakes so far this season so next weeks game is winnable.
Go Bombers Go!
How is Kramdi to Small. He's bigger than alot of SAM linebackers in this league.
-
Even Dunnigan and Sanchez said that QBs need to slide earlier. Suitor didn't like it, because it's the Bombers.
11 hours ago, JuranBoldenRules said:Kramdi might be the best SAM in the West Division depending on whoever Edmonton trots out in a given week.
Rene is also pretty good. Who whatever thought two Canadians starting at SAM. Would've been more if Cross and Makonzo had stayed healthy in Hamilton.

In comparison in 2019 we got desjarlais, kongbo, Brady, Eli, Hallett and Exume. Man that was a solid draft for us.
Walter's best draft of his tenure.
Starting RG in Ottawa
Rotational defensive end
Starting half back
A guy who should be Starting at centre
Two depth defensive backs
