  1. Nail the refs too. Has that head official whose crew robbed that Bomber fan of a million dollars worked a game as a CFL Head Official since?
  2. You'd think with the Eye In The Sky, CFL officials could overrule an official in a situation like that with Reilly. Again, total inaction by the CFL when they have the technology to make changes but for some reason CFL Control doesn't want to take away the game from the refs which is ridiculous.
  3. I'll take your word that I may have said that but I don't recall which is fine. My worry is more injuries. Deron Mayo of the Stampeders was quoted in today's Calgary Herald as saying that the Stamps don't push contact very much. That Dickenson gives guys maintenance days. That they've had no contact since training camp. Yet, they are decimated by injuries on the OL, receiver, DL & DB positions. Dickenson was quoted as saying he still doesn't know what he's going to do about receiver for their game vs the Lions Saturday as they've run out of bodies even on the PR. So, I think that shows that little or no contact during the week doesn't prevent injuries during the week. Spencer Wilson broke his hand during practice. Again, no contact.
  4. I just see that kind of argument here maybe a little too much. That anything new if it isn't considered a good thing by someone then they're labelled old & crotchety by the Millennial crowd. This isn't about being old, It's about having a meaningful discussion & presenting your side of the subject. So, I was just a bit dismayed when I saw the "old man's pants" reference. I thought, "Here we go again".
  5. Those guys have been around always. They're the coaches that need to change. i remember up to about a decade when players couldn't get water if they were thirsty & were called sucks if they asked. Back in the 70's when I played you didn't dare ask for water or you could be running or doing extra conditioning. It could be 35 C & there were only a couple of water breaks during practice. That was so wrong yet it was part of the culture of football. That is to toughen you up. As far as concussions go, I still say it's incumbent on the officials to call head shots. They don't though. So, guys will get hurt in games & the dumb ass officials won't call it. The hit on Mike Reilly for example last Saturday by a Stamps DL. Obvious headshot but no call by the official staring right at the play. That ref should be called on the carpet to explain what he saw & why he never threw a flag. Suffer the consequences of his inaction. Only then, will the game become safer.
  6. Of course the players will like this. No player is going to say they don't like this.

  8. You're assuming he'd want to go.
  9. And then you can just about guarantee it won't be the tallest building in Winnipeg.
  10. I thin I think what sets this apart is they've taken shoulder pads out of practicing. So, not even any "light" contact.
  11. So...... basically what you're saying is anyone who doesn't agree with this is old & crotchety? Nice argument since you jumped in here anyway to tell us you won't put on your old mans pants. No one is upset. It's a discussion. It's groundbreaking so therefore we all have opinions about this. I don't want to see the quality of games go down or players get injured because they may not be physically ready to play. But upset? Nah.
  12. I'd never give money to a developer for a condo down payment without it first either is under construction or completed. Some people have been waiting years for this & still no actual word on when construction starts. If 50% isn't good enough then this project is doomed. Cue the lawsuits.
  13. I know they're trying to cut down on concussions but there'll be a lot of unintended consequences that will happen. Football is about hitting. Delivering & taking a hit. Being able to throw a block. You can only do so much without pads. There may be more concussions & upper body injuries as players will only be doing this during games. I don't like it.
  14. There will be more injuries, I believe. How can you go from no pads to full violent contact??? I think it's wrong.
  15. Montalban was great. I remember him playing so many characters with that accent.
  16. I'm not a fan of sci fi comedies but prepared to give it a chance although lining The Orville up against SNF isn't the best idea. Space also slotted Discovery on Sunday night so we'll see how it goes.
  17. Agreed on that.
  18. Well, for whatever reason I can't make edits on my posts so my mentioning the Enterprise was a mistake.
  19. It's a comedy. It's not going to win an Emmy for best writing or acting. It's a spoof. You seem really upset that it seemed to have crossed some kind of Star Trek canon. The problem with Star Trek starting with Abrams is that everything has changed. Alternate Universe, Vulcan destroyed. Kirk becomes Captain of the Enterprise on what looked like a lark. Now, we have the new ST series where the actors are forbidden to say the word God on screen. Yes, the Captain said the phrase, "Oh God" as an adlib during filming & one of the writers told him under no circumstance is any reference to religion to be allowed. The Klingons look totally different. The series from everything I've read, looks like it's going to implode with all the actors in the series telling their agents to find them a new gig after December as to a man & woman they expect it to be cancelled.. Star Trek fans seem upset with everything they've seen & read about the new series. The Orville is a spoof, But it does contain a lot of Trek references in it. It's tongue in cheek, nothing more.
  20. Watched The Orville this evening. Never liked sci fi comedies but this series may be more Trek than Star Trek: Discovery. I have a feeling ST:D is going to be one big cluster.... .
  21. Everybody makes fun of Proulx's accent.
  22. Yesterday was the first time I ever heard the term accidental pass interference. I've heard the term "incidental" but not accidental.
  23. Nate would be throwing out nicknames as a leopard may change his name but he can't change his spots. Plus he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer so he'd give himself away fast.
