I don't believe that law has been repealed so in the eyes of the law on the third strike you get life so in effect a chronic shoplifter is in the same league per se as a murderer.

I could see a 17 year old teen age kid make a bad choice like this. But a grown man? Mitchell made that choice knowing full well what would happen. Now he'll face the consequences. No one here is willing to forgive Chad Kelly for what he did. He's been called every name under the sun that is allowed by posters here for sexually harrassing a young woman at work. No forgiveness there. But let some idiot player like Mitchell who was probably high on some kind of drug get behind the wheel of his car driving erratically at high speeds trying to kill himself & others. Now, suddenly he's a "young man who hopefully gets the help he needs". Sorry, I don't buy it because I never saw one word of kindness towards Chad Kelly. I'm not sticking up for Kelly. I just am stating no one here was willing to say he needed help. The help that Mitchell needs is to spend the next few years in the slammer thinking about the life he threw away.

True, just because the CFL pays for a beat writer to come doesn't mean the writer's paper will publish any stories.

Mitchell had the life he wanted. Pursuing his dream playing receiver in pro football. Then he blew it. "The youing man" ****** his own life up Considering he tried to kill the sheriff who was pursuing him head on with his car but changed his mind at the last second I don't have a lot of sympathy for Mitchell. It's just blind luck he didn't kill anyone.

It's true. Oh, it's true. Postmedia doesn't send any beat writers for the Stamps on the road. I believe that's the same for every CFL team Postmedia covers. I've cancelled my subscription to the Calgary Herald. They don't want to spend any coin on the CFL well **** them. There isn't one story about the Stamps the day after when they publish when the Stamps have a road game. Postmedia has destroyed journalism in this country. I refuse to spend any money on that fraudeulent media company.

On X, Bob Irving practically begged Herb Zurkowsky to get to the Grey Cup. He said he needed to "find a way", I believe. Also, Ed Tait posted that Herb could stay with him for free. Just get to the Grey Cup. Zurkowski declined. The Montreal Gazette refused to send him to the Grey Cup even though he's the beat writer for the Alouettes.

That I agree with. A streaming deal would be amazing. I also think if the CFL eventually expands to the US they'll have to change the name at some point.

I was an independent insurance adjuster living i& working in Thompson with my wife & 3 year old son (at the time). It was right around this time of the year. Maybe late November or early December of 1989. I was watching TV & switched to a weather channel similar to the one we used to have on local cable in Winnipeg. It said the ambient air temp outside was -52 Celsius. Even being from Winnipeg,I never experienced temperatures like that. So, I bundled up. went out & checked my truck. I wanted to experience what it's like at minus 50 for the first & only time in my life. Once outside, I made sure that my truck was properly plugged into my stall at our apartment block. No wind. Just silence. Felt like I was in some sort of vacuum. The sky was clear & full of stars. Silence except for the cracking of the trees around me that sounded like gunshots going off & the steam comimg out of every chimney & vent in town. As well as the squeaky crunch of the snow when I walked. My experience wasn't sublime but surreal. Felt like I was another planet. I HATE cold weather but that was a heckuva beautiful experience!

I think the CFL is ready to pounce in UFL cities if the league folds. There's a lot of negativity about the league in the media down south since that billionaire bought the UFL. Got rid of GM's & scoutinmg staff. Players not making a lot of money. Older players being tossed aside for the 21 & 22 years olds as the UFL is a developmental league now. Everything is centralized now under his watchful eye. I'm sure training camps will be in the same place or close by. No community involvement at all.

I'm sure a bantam or pee wee team could use him. There's a lot of Dad coaches he can learn from.
