  1. I doubt this was the case, more like dealing from an area of strength and getting a return on an asset that was going to walk at the end of the year for nothing. I will be honest, at the beginning of the year if you told me we were right in the thick of a playoff run and we were going to trade Johnny Adams, no way I would believe it but watching the season unfold this is just good asset management.
  2. I thought Fogg's birthday was yesterday (and the day before that, and the day before that...)
  3. I would assume Mayo in for Sheppard, if McDuffie and Harris don't go who gets added to the roster to replace McDuffie?
  4. Agreed. You can't fault the refs on the field for not being able to slow time down and make the correct call. Replay should be used to overturn egregious errors that can directly change the outcome of the game. Whether or not a guy made a small tug on the jersey when you zoom in at 200x does not.
  5. Maybe Adams is moving into next year and if Sheppard is out a few weeks we needed to backfill the WR spot anyways. Mayo has looked good in his opportunities so I would assume he gets first crack at the lineup but if Outlaw comes in and performs in practice then that's just another guy who can step in when we need him.
  6. Interesting prospect for sure. I would think at 28 years old we would have to make a call on him sooner rather than later, maybe the end of Dominique Davis after this season?
  7. I don't see how blowing up the past three years and starting all over again with a new staff will accomplish anything. For one, there are no real attractive candidates out there to replace him except for retreads (Higgins, Chamblin). It doesn't make sense to me to promote either of LaPolice or Hall and if you don't extend O'Shea you also lose his abilities as a ST coach and no one can argue the success we have had in that area since he took over from Pat Tracey. Any momentum this team would have from getting into the playoffs would be erased and once again we would start at the bottom looking up at the rest of the West. Everyone would ***** and moan about how we have a journeyman QB getting on in years and spent too much money on an aging vet WR past his prime. Next thing you know it's another goddamn rebuild and who knows how long until we climb out of that hole. Walters and O'Shea have done a terrific job of restoring this roster to one that can win every week. Canadian and import depth is at the best state we have seen in years. Our o-line is improving every week and when we suffer injuries the next man up comes in and performs to the point that we wonder when/if the injured player gets back in because he has to earn it back. But yeah if we lose a playoff game let's torch the **** thing.
  8. I want this to be true so I'm not looking it up to fact check.
  9. Benevides maybe, but I think Maas gets at least one more year in Edmonton before they axe him. Maas may have to can Benevides to appease the masses if they bow out early (or miss the playoffs altogether). Other than Montreal, who else would have an HC opening? I heard on the radio today that Milanovich's job may be up for grabs but that would be foolish for Toronto to do and I honestly don't see it happening especially given what they just gave up for Willy, a guy who Milanovich was vouching for.
  10. We can put his name on the water tower like in Little Giants.
  11. I was gonna post my own but they are a carbon copy of yours. I think the list will change by season's end a little but at this point that's what I would go with.
  12. Very true. Not often do you see guys like Vernon Adams (as an example) come right up after passing through the NFL draft and they instead exhaust any and all opportunities south of the border. These guys hang around on practice rosters for the better part of 2-4 years and then lose eligibility. TJ Heath is a 29 year old CFL rookie after all.
  13. Make an offer and move on if the price is ridiculous. I doubt he's going to do the world tour again but it wouldn't surprise me if he plays chicken to get top dollar (again).
  14. I would beg you to define how any snaps Jason Boltus took were "useful" lol.
  15. One thing that he has really impressed me with is his tackling skills. It was evident in his first start vs Edmonton and obviously the open field tackle on Bridge last week. As 17to85 eluded to above, someone else in the secondary could learn a thing or two from him. Nothing boils my blood more than seeing defenders try to shoulder check instead of making the tackle.
  16. Off the top of my head: Lefors Bishop Randall R. Williams Pierce Jyles Brink Elliott Goltz Hall Boltus Willy Brohm Davis Nichols
  17. I don't have a problem with it either, so long as we can procure someone else's QB. Problem is, relying on other teams to scout and develop players for you will come back to bite you when that well dries up and you're left with what you brought in.
  18. TBH I didn't even bother to check on Posey's health (and for a while forgot about him completely) I guess the return for an import DB would depend on how desperate the team acquiring him would be and their standing for this season. A team like Edmonton may be willing to pay more to shore up a need on a team that probably has championship aspirations whereas a team like Saskatchewan can try to get a return on a player who may be lost for nothing at seasons end. The return would also depend on the teams faith in it's US scouting and how they can shore up their depth going into next season.
  19. We are one of the few teams to be able to find and develop a true star calibre QB in recent years. BC - Lulay, Jennings(?) - Lulay's reign was short lived but he had a few great years and a GC ring Calgary - Mitchell - they haven't been hurting at QB since the days of Kevin Feterik Edmonton - Reilly - Maybe credit for him can go to BC but he only really hit his stride once he signed in Edmonton. Sask - Durant - solid QB with GC ring Toronto - Collaros, Harris - Only reason one of these guys isn't in Toronto is they had great stability at the position which allowed them time to develop Hamilton - one of the only ones with a similar issue at QB development as we do but with the luxury of having one of the best at the position playing for them currently. Montreal - surprising how they had no one really develop behind Calvillo despite having Milanovich there for many years. Ottawa- only in year 3 so not really a whole lot of precedent here but maybe Jensen in a few years? We are the only team in the league with consistent turnover at the position since Glenn left. Someone should start a QB jersey similar to the one that the Browns have, I imagine it would look very similar.
  20. So what's our ideal secondary once everyone is healthy? Randle-Heath-Loffler-Fogg-Adams or does Frederick take over for Adams? What if Adams shows out this week and you can't take him out of the lineup? What about CJ Roberts and Julian Posey? Good problems to have. Does Walters use this area of strength to help prop up our team in other areas come trade deadline perhaps? I would think that no less than 3-4 teams (Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa if not more) would appreciate the depth at secondary that we have. It also speaks to the fact that Walters held firm in his ask for Heath when we acquired him from the Argos that maybe he has a plan for the added depth at secondary. Maybe we can flip Roberts or Posey to Sask for Roosevelt before he bails on them in FA anyways ?
  21. It probably a little from column A and B. Kuale especially kept taking stupid penalties and harming the team in a very obvious way but still got to see the field. Peach was replacement level but played and Bryant was a flyer as our WR depth was a dumpster fire. No doubt his talent to make his lineup from is infinitely better than 2 years ago, there were still instances that he seemed to favor the vet over an unproven. Fast forward to now and he is making guys earn back their spots and rightfully so. Part of that is him growing as a coach and the other part is just his overall faith in the depth on the roster that he can stick his neck out and bench a player. And we're talking about a guy who's a year removed from being a West all-star and not an also ran like Kuale.
