  1. OK then, for some reason I thought he was 29.
  2. People want a proven commodity as a backup, we all know what happens when the franchise QB goes down. The season is basically over. Problem is that 1A starters are hard to find. Guys like Lulay, Tate, Burris (temporarily) all got their jobs taken by a younger guy. I think that circles back to why there is such a thirst for the Bombers to have a "homegrown" QB prospect from fans, so that once the prospect is ready he can take over all the while there is a capable backup waiting. For the time being, Lefevour is fine. I think that this team can win games with him if need be but I don't think it's an optimal or long term solution. Who knows what we have in Dom Davis, he played once two years ago in a meaningless game so maybe he becomes that guy but at almost 30 he has to make the jump right now.
  3. The preseason is so tough to gauge when it comes to new guys and making the roster unless you can watch the practices and games in person. We heard all week from the media about Apodaca and he is in the first round of cuts, everyone is now on board the Lankford hype train while guys like Thorpe/Walker Jr have been injured all camp and they survive the first cuts. Makes you see how big the disconnect can be between the media and coaching staff. That is why I for the last two years to see what Tait puts out there and who is he hyping up, he would have much more intimate knowledge of what the coaching staff is thinking (although I would have said this before he started working for the team anyways). FWIW, from the videos I saw of the game I thought Liggins made a nice grab on that TD and the D-line got some nice pressure from both the interior and outside but it's hard to get a good feel for them based on the o-line that they faced (with exception to Jeffcoats strip sack)
  4. I would be concerned if they didn't. We don't need yes-men or cow-towing to the brass in this organization anymore. Like Rich said above, debate, decide, move on. Rinse repeat.
  5. This sounds familiar. Wasn't it a home game? I had seasons in the endzone and it is jogging my memory.
  6. Wasn't Perry Floyd the one who always fumbled the ball? Like, every damn time?
  7. Those are all awesome. I remember some future starts such as Gabriel Fulbright (I think he has since died), Ladarius Vann, Marty Markett, Doug Pierce, Kurt Adams, the list goes on!
  8. Is there an archive of training camp rosters somewhere? Would be fun to go back to the mid 2000's and see some of the great TCF we have had over the years.
  9. Out indefinitely with carpal tunnel syndrome after writing his first sentence.
  10. Welp, never mind then. Everyone can ignore my dissertation.
  11. Question for someone with more knowledge than I - does the use of an NI kicker count towards the ratio? If so, then I would say that there could be some value to having an RB to spell off Harris or replace him if he gets injured and allow us to keep Hurl where he belongs on special teams. If not then I would agree that the value of an import kicker, especially one of Medlocks caliber, would be an asset. And to clarify, I'm not suggesting that we send Medlock packing at all, he is the best player at his position that we have seen in a very long time and it sure is nice to see 3 points walk on the field when we hit 3rd down. But he doesn't play for free and if we are going to try to field a consistent team then there may be a time where the trade off between what we pay for an elite import kicker is outweighed by needs elsewhere on the roster if we have a capable replacement in the wings.
  12. The punting was the book on him when we drafted him, so hopefully he can work out the kinks and give us the flexibility to eventually move back to an NI kicker and free up a DI spot again. Whether that is this year or next I don't know, but it looks like there is some potential there.
  13. If they do play, I'm sure it won't be more than a series or two just to get a feel for the conditions. We still have to evaluate what we have behind Nichols and they should be getting the majority of reps in the first game. Plus, it would be nice to see what Menard-Briere can do and if he is possibly the heir to the throne for Medlock. Either way, it's about damn time we play football again.
  14. I'm in, but I warn you I may have an advantage.
  15. I too have an Adam Lowry jersey, and owned Armstrong/Shabazz/Watson/Willy jerseys and my name is also Mike. I wonder if I always wake up tired because I am too busy posting as my alter ego?
  16. Every time I think of Rainey now, all I see in my head is Mo Leggett blowing him up behind the line on that 3rd down play. It's a beautiful thing.
  17. I mean, if their previous team let them go to FA just how good are they?
  18. THIS is the kind of hard hitting journalism I come here for. But honestly, from a guy who can never make it out to a practice I do appreciate all of the updates!
  19. I think he probably deserves it more than anyone else, the only thing worse than watching the Kelly/Burke debacles would be calling it on the radio. At least we could leave early/turn it off but Bob had to sit there and digest the whole thing. I think that is probably why I respect and appreciate him so much as a broadcaster, he never sugar coated it when things were bad. If we sucked, he would let you know it.
  20. I think at this point it has to be a formality. 1290 has been increasing their CFL content more and more, likely to make a push for broadcasting rights next year. I'm all for it under the caveat that Bob retires, because as long as he wants to do it he should be. He's too damn good to give it up to someone else if he still wants to call the games and I don't see any way he moves over to 1290. CJOB had a hell of a run but with TSN being the TV rights holder I am sure that they will have significant pull in negotiations.
  21. Yeah I am inclined to agree on CJOB. It's like that old SNL skit with Jimmy Fallon - "Welcome back - we'll be right back!"
  22. Cut the leg off and keep going. If Richards isn't willing to become an amputee to make the team, just what kind of character guy is he??
  23. So as per MBB tradition, will the dark horse everyone likes to make the roster survive the first round of cuts?
