Speculation of the Coyotes being interested.  How about Trouba for Chychrun?  He'd be protected in the draft too so thats a bonus.

The Coyotes have a lot of interesting prospects and some cap space to make something work. Chychrun being one of them.

However, are the Jets ready to wait for Chychrun to grow? Sounds like they want an equal replacement for Trouba... meaning a young, LHD, who's ready for big minutes right now.

Did someone say it here? Maybe a caller to 1290? Anyway... this fairly similar to what Hamonic wanted, is it not? He wasn't vilified. Why?  Respected the team, put them first or at least on equal footing (thanks to his agent's advice, I'm sure).

It was also leaked that Hamonic requested a trade. Yes, both sides did confirm it and then when on to explain why the request was made. Trouba made this public (or his agent did, I forget now) and it was done to put pressure on the Jets.

Not sure where the Hamonic leak came from but it doesn't sound like it was done on purpose. Both sides seemed embarrassed by the situation when it came out.

Its really unfortunate because it stings Winnipeg.  it plays to the "no one wants to play in Winnipeg" nonsense.  Which obviously is untrue.

I guess my hope is that Chevy fleeces some team on a Trouba trade.  And barring that, I hope Trouba sits and rots for the next 4 years.

I don't believe this is the same thing as 'no one wants to play in Winnipeg'. Although, it may appear that way.

I think this is about playing closer to home, in a US market. Or, in a US market, period. Also, let's face it, the rumours about the kid might be true and his family might want to bring him home to protect him.

  4. The LHD/RHD is a convenient red herring meant to distract from the fact that Trouba doesn't want to play in Winnipeg. Unfortunately, for Trouba/Overhardt, it's a terrible excuse and is not working on the fans.

They won't even listen to a contract offer, which tells me it's all about Winnipeg. Even if Buff and Myers both offered to move over, Trouba would find another excuse.

He's be better signing, playing LHD, and waiting on the trade. At least he plays and earns money. It's known now that he wants out, so the Jets are just waiting on a proper offer. The offers won't get better with Trouba sitting.

He's in the same boat as Trouba.  He hasnt reported to Sabres camp and wants a big long term deal.  Speculation is he wants $6-$7mm and Sabres offered $5.  Sound familiar?

6'4". 219 lbs.  From Finland.  But he shoots right.

Perfect fit. Let's do the deal right now.

    On a side note...

I would love for Buff to call Trouba's bluff and say that he's happy to play on left with Trouba on the right. Wonder what Overhardt would say then???

  6. I seriously doubt anyone is preparing a contract offer for Durant at this point. Still lots of season left to explore other options and see how Durant does. Even if it is hyperbole,

He's probably just guessing and probably read a fans forum or something. But then again, anything Pedersen says is a joke, meant to elicit a response.

Illegal contact on a receiver is quite a different matter, and I agree, there's no way to tell how illegal contact could affect the play, BUT, that's not what happened on that play, now is it? If you look at the play I mentioned, it has no impact on that particular play, but because, it's within the scope of challenges..it had to be called. No discretion.

And that's what I'm talking about. Streamline the challenge rule so that we don't get the petty challenges that prolong the game.

But that was my point. Illegal downfield blocking should be treated the same. If it's illegal, it should be called. Can't pick and choose when to apply rules or when to follow them.

The current batch of refs is so horrible, I don't trust them to make any calls.

Congratulations Calgary. You won a Mickey Mouse challenge on a downfield block which happened a second before the catch, and quite away from the play. Not the intent of the challenge rule at all, but since it was challenged so quickly, it shows that you're employing someone to look specifically for calls like that...as a fall back...in case the play goes against you. Again, not in the spirit of the rule.

The basis of the challenge rule was sound. Unfortunately it has been bastardized and now it reflects poorly on the league and the refs.

It's worth keeping, but get it fixed. It's innovative and can still be used effectively. Clean it up, for the actual play that affects the game, not the one 20 yards away, which never would have been called and has no effect on the play.

    I don't agree with this.

You have no idea how an illegal contact downfield could have affected a receivers route and affected the decision the QB was making. The rule is in place for a reason.

And, if they do have someone looking for it, good for them. We probably do too.

So... has Montreal now overtaken Sask for being the biggest gongshow show in the league?

That's recency bias. Sask has been a sustained gongshow going all season long. That trumps the current drama in Montreal.

I'm sure we can trust Jones to 'up his game' in the next few weeks to take the headlines once again.

What not just be the Black Knights like he wanted to.  Desert Knights sounds weird. In six years when they rebrand it will be just Knights. Like how the ducks changed brands.

Should have been the Strippers. It works on so many levels. They missed a real opportunity!

I meant in our stadium, I want it sold out in Blue and Gold. I don't mind the odd Rider fan on the forum.

I disagree. The Banjo Bowl is my favorite game of the year because of the banter back and forth. My mother is a lifelong Rider fan and it's the only game she attends each year. It's fun. (It's a lot more fun when the Bombers win)

  12. My two cents...

I was a big Willy believer until this year. He looked uncertain and unable to make plays. Yes, he did not play behind our best o-line combination but I'm not convinced it would have made a big difference. I'm a real believer in the idea that as one area improves, it improves the other areas. I think Nicholls has had a positive impact on the performance of the o-line and the better the offense has played, the defense has been even better.

That said, I will miss Willy-peg but still believe this is the best move for both sides.
