It's Wheeler!
I'm sure Laine feels slighted.

Blake Wheelers name has been floating around since Ladd got traded and with training camp vastly approaching talk is that he will be the next captain, best get it out of the way dont what it to become a training camp thing
Agreed.
I have to ask, does anyone care? I know it's offseason, so it's going to get big play, but does anyone (fans) care if it's Wheeler or Sheif? Is it worth all the attention it's going to get in the media?

Only posting my opinion. I just don't always believe Lawless, he always bashes the Riders every chance he gets. He is a pegger and always pumps the Bombers tires whenever he can too
He's a Jones apologist and a former Argo employee.

I don't want Burris in any situation, to be honest.
If there was a situation out there that could land us assets for Willy while we still retained a quality backup QB in some way or another, I'd consider supporting the idea of trading Drew.
Is that situation out there? I don't see it.
The ONLY situation that I can see presenting itself is a scenario where we basically do a three way trade with Toronto/Montreal
Toronto gives up: assets, gets: Drew Willy
Winnipeg gives up: Drew Willy, gets: half the assets from Toronto, Kevin Glenn, cap relief to bolster their roster elsewhere
Montreal gives up: Kevin Glenn, gets: half the assets from Toronto, cap relief, an opening to boost Vernon Adams/Rakeem Cato up the depth chart and invest in the future
I like that scenario much better (Glenn vs Burris)
I think the telling thing here is that the Bombers have not approached Willy to talk contract. That tells me that they have not lost faith in him.
-
If Burris is released and you can get him at a discounted rate, do you trade Willy?
Gives Bombers flexibility at the end of the year. Get something from the Argos. Get a quality back-up for Nicholls.
I'm not advocating, just discussing.

Is the new challenge rule in effect for the game tonight?
I guess so. They said it's effective immediately.

If you think it through, if Willy was resigned to accept lower contract, why would he go elsewhere to new system and team and have to start all over again when he could have essentially the same money here along with a known situation?
But if Willy feels he's lost the faith of the coaching staff, it may be too hard to regain it.
It will depend on who gets the back-up reps both on the field and on the practice field.
If sees too many obstacles, he may want to move on. It's not as though he's spent much time or had much success in the new Lapo offense.

He started a league wide conspiracy against the Riders and is trying to get them removed from the league so he is A1 in my books!
I don't want anyone in Saskatchewan to think they're special because they're not!

Woohoo game day!
Can we get to Glenn before he releases? We haven't had much success so far this season getting to him.
Can we stop Carter/Lewis? Let's hit them hard and get them off their game.
Can Carter try to pull that same BS he pulled against Ottawa? I would love to see O'Shea lay him out!
Can we keep winning? Yes, we can!

I would like to see him have a greater presence at games, being seen in attendance, etc. I would also like to see him more directly address the rule changes and the laughable degree to which plays can be challenged; perhaps I only mean I hope he'll do whatever he can, as I'm not even sure to what extent that's in his job description.
I don't want Orridge messing with the on-field product. I DO want him to put the right people in place to help facilitate improvement with the on-filed product.

I still believe there is a looming disaster in Montreal and potentially Toronto. You have teams that are basically worthless and depending on a rich guy to not care about taking a loss to keep them operating, playing on facilities they don't control. Not good.
Toronto is different because the owners also benefit from the stadium and having butts in seats. It's not like the old days at Sky Dome, where the owners saw the Argos as an inconvenience. Plus, the Argos are not as limited for picking game days.
The fans will come back. They'll go to BMO. They need time.
Cohon helped get Ottawa back. He helped get the CFL their TV deal. I'm not sure how I feel about Cohon but he did get some things accomplished.
He also didn't panic when the NFL 'experiment' came to Canada.

Much like Goodell, he has some bad timing. A lot of issues Orridge has had to deal were leftover (ignored) by the previous administration.
-
That sounds correct.
Still, how many teams can take on that much of a cap hit to not ice players?!

Man, I hate RedBlacks. I hate the Lions too. But tonight, I hate the RedBlacks more.

if the game was in winnipeg id say lets all kick in and take him to baked expectations.
I don't think, as a group, we could come up with enough money for that tab.
Is Foodie Goodie still open?
Let's not forget that Lewis blocks too and really enjoys hitting people. He's a threat when receiving the ball but also on any offensive play.

How does Ottawa do it with 2 starting QB salaries....
Same with Calgary .....
How do other teams survive when they over pay for massive salaries on receivers or aging vets.
I'll ask them.
But since we have no idea where the Blue Bombers are versus the cap, what salaries they're paying, etc, we're all just speculating.
I guess the point of this thread should be, if paying Nicholl's his bonuses means we have to cut someone (or $XXX), who should get cut?
I guess Cronk. The victim of the Nicholl's bonuses!

The government names board members, but doesn't directly administer WCB.
But the Act dictates what authorities the Board has. They are also responsible for promoting workplace health and safety.
I wonder how they would even approach the Bombers?
This is just a scare tactic by the CFLPA, which won't result in anything.
