It's devolved into total hysteria around here.  It goes through a cycle - "It's the goalie!  It's the coach!  It's the veterans!".  Over and over again.  And then everyone shakes hands and agrees that they've figured out the problem, then the Jets lose again, and the cycle begins once more.

Maybe, we're the problem? Have we considered making changes to the fans?

Its not a thin draft, its top heavy. And the top tier is strong enough to get a bunch of them NFL interest. Its very high risk high reward even for the cfl draft. With our NI depth, having the chance to draft a star NI is better then for sure being able to bring in a guy who might become a starter at peak.

You're going to have to take a chance on who might stick around the NFL a while. That's not going to be fun for GMs.

  3. I don't think is much different than the NFL combine down south, where the elite prospects skip the entire event.

Why not make the teams come to you, on your turf, under your ideal conditions? You can design the whole thing to play to your strengths.

And, there are probably many who will have a shot at an NFL camp.

Is that paid for by Trump?  If so, I dont care.  But if its paid for by the government (ie. taxpayers), its ridiculous.  They have a residence and a "retreat" and I think a couple other government homes.  The Pres & family go on vacations.  Why would they need to pay to let him live his "private" life style?  If you dont want to live at the White House, dont run for President.

I'm sure the $1M figure is on the high side and considers the cost to set up the security... But no, that's on the taxpayers. It's about security.

Also, when his kids travel on Trump business, they also get the full protection of the secret service, the bill footed by the taxpayers. That's millions already sunk into Trump business trips.

The fleecing of America is on.

Im curious as to the cost and effort to secure Mar-a-lago so that it can continue to operate as a country club and have Trump there whenever he feels like it.  it must be a massive task for Secret Service.

Saw this nugget the other day....

$1M/day to keep Melania Trump in Trump tower in NYC and Flint still doesn't have clean water.

  6. Looking at the FA class, you could really turnaround your team if you pick carefully and act aggressively.

Last year, the Bombers made the biggest splash and had the biggest impact on their roster. Harris and Medlock were worth every penny.

Saskatchewan has an opportunity to overhaul their roster within a couple of days.

My point is, the NFL actually hid the information from players.  There is no evidence the NHL did.  The NHL cant be responsible for players in the 70's and 80's suffering CTE when no one knew what that is.  Thats just a greedy cash grab.  But the NHL is NOW showing ignorance.  And they're going to lose.  Maybe they're just trying to drive the settlement down.

I'm not sure we know what info the NHL had or didn't have.

But I wasn't trying to make a point, other than the timing worked out well for the NFL. And, well, it's never a good time for the NHL.

I can understand why they plead ignorance but I wish the NHL would protect players more than they based on the science that's available today.

This is the great shame of the NHL right now - the denial of CTE and brain injury.  I realise they want to win a lawsuit but its a sickening lack of empathy.  The NFL players won a lawsuit because it was shown the league knew of the dangers and hid that from players.  Im of the mind that players in the 70's, 80's etc cant pin that on the NHL as no one knew.

But any player today who goes on to suffer CTE could win a lawsuit.  The NHL is handing this to the players (down the road) on a silver platter.

The emergence of the CTE science to a point where it's allowed the players to take the leagues to court, couldn't have come at a better time for the NFL.

They're rich, making heaps of money. They have a guaranteed income streams for the next ten years. It's still the top league in the US, with lots of interest.

The NFL was able to afford the repercussions of the settlement far more than the NHL will be able to. The NHL already teeters financially with lots of struggling franchises.

haha, you are right. I should have said the fancy stats because right now, Ws are everything.

GAA is a fancy stat now? Good god.

Anyways, then Helle needs to play the rest of the games because he has the best fancy stats, non-fancy stats, wins, winning percentage, whatever else you want.

And you can't call up Comrie because he doesn't have any Ws.

CHL should be disbanded altogether.  Let them play high school/college hockey like every other sport.  I've never liked how they run this league.  Kids getting drafted at 14/15 years old... it's just wrong.

The alternative is that you have elite players all moving to certain neighbourhoods to play at a certain, elite hockey school. It already happens at the lower levels.

I'm not sure drafting is the answer but I don't know what is.
