  1. Alright, don't get me wrong I'm just as elated as anyone else here about the Bombers recent win streak and I certainly hope it continues. That said, if you take a look at the current standings as of today (Note: Calgary/Hamilton haven't played their Week 10 game yet):

    East
    Ottawa 4-4
    Hamilton 4-4
    Toronto 4-4
    Montreal 3-6

    West
    Calgary 6-1
    BC 6-3
    Winnipeg 5-4
    Edmonton 5-4
    Saskatchewan 1-8

Our current 4-game winning streak was with wins against EDM, HAM, TOR and MON - 3 of the 4 of which are under .500. Also, 2 of our 5 wins so far this year came against a Masoli-led Hamilton squad. Is anyone else concerned this current run might be just smoke and mirrors, like the start of the 2014 season that saw the Bombers start out 5-1 against weaker opponents?

I would say that the delay of game would be an ideal penalties for challenges that are proven wrong, but not for the ones that aren't overturned because the evidence is inconclusive.

It's a start but they should do away with challenges altogether. Video challenges do not improve refereeing. If they want to improve reffing don't change rules all the freaking time. More training and defining of what constitutes each penalty then you can get better reffing. Really though I don't find CFL officiating that bad.

^ This! They've been changing the rules so much ever since they introduced the PI as something that can be challenged. I also find it mildly funny that in an attempt to reduce delays, the refs now have to notify the crowd (and the coach) they will be charged a timeout...which inherently increases the delay.

  3. As others have said, Durant has quite a few more miles on him than Willy... I wouldn't make that trade unless there was an additional upside (for salary purposes etc.)

Also, of the two I think Willy has the better team aspect to him, Durant seems like he is a bit arrogant at times which can only cause dissent among the ranks.

Edit: Thanks Noeller for point out my mistake :\

I believe it is a valid speculation. The team has been completely different under Nichols and Willy's absence as a starter is the only conclusion.

Although a starting QB can obviously be a leader and rally the troops through adversity, that doesn't necessarily mean Nichols has turned around the entire team by himself. What goes on in the Bombers locker room is unknown to anyone on MBB. You're right that it could be Nichols' that's lit the fire, it could also be O'Shea's speeches, the D playing fantastic, something in the water, or any combination of these or other factors. Nobody really knows why they've suddenly come to life the past few games, but I hope it continues.

What is for certain though, is that unfortunately QBs do get injured in this league. The thought of Dominique Davis as our backup if they were to release Willy and get caught with their pants down again (if Nichols were to get injured) is terrifying. If it were me and cash flow really is becoming an issue I'd look at other places to cut before releasing Willy, there are much easier areas to "trim the fat" than at QB where the Bombers have been starved for so long.

He had more tools than Nichols did at his disposure.... (Weston, Smith, Adams, starting o-line..)

Starting OL? That's a laugh and a half!

Well, technically he is correct, every game the Bombers do start somebody on the offensive line. Whether it's a group of security guards in need of some $$$ or actual y'know... professional football players is entirely up for debate.

So, what team is worse? The 2013 Blue Bombers or the 2016 Roughriders? The Riders at least have a qb. Remember ours? Max Hall & Boltus?

Logically, the 2013 Bombers, until proven otherwise the Roughriders still have a little over half a season left. Although I doubt they'll do anything fantastic, they could theoretically scrounge a couple of wins later in the year, especially when other teams have playoff hopes fade away and they just play for pride.

Burris benched, Harris to start. Rick Campbell is no dummy.

The foreseeable future will show us just how dark Burris' inflated ego is and it's effect on the Redblacks. It's one of the reasons I didn't want to see him come to Winnipeg a few years ago. It'll be interesting to see how he handles being the backup role, will he graciously continue to contribute to his team, despite being the former leader now benched? Or will he throw a numerous hissy fits and cause dissent among the ranks?

I feel that his rant the other day won't be the last temper tantrum we'll see from him. Who's going to own the East? Right now it looks like the Ti-cats but who knows...

What's he going to do, start 3 NIs instead of 7? Submit a 158 player roster?

Jones needs to go back to blatant cheating......nothing else happening there....

They could try out some of their new cutting-edge 13-men formations like they did in the '09 Grey Cup.

Heard Roddy on TSN radio here in HAM chatting up the game tomorrow night.

    Kept using the term "we".

Fluffed Jones comparing him to Bellichek and described fans who disliked Jones approach as old and out of touch.

Apparently in Rod's mind cheating is modern and the newest technique to win at sports.

Sounded like a jackass blowhard fan of a team you dont like we all know in every sport (but gets paid to be one)

At least when Bellichek cheats he wins.

    Hi everyone,

As most other above me, I have lurked on the site since it's inception and finally got around to signing up. I used to post on OB for years before it started to deteriorate.

Unfortunately for me, I was not alive to relive the glory days of the Bombers as I was only 2 when they last won the Cup but despite the last few years of futility I remain loyal to this team and plan my summer/fall around the games. I look forward to engaging in discussions with other knowledgeable fans so I can stop bothering my wife with my constant rambling!

Yep, we're in the same boat, I was 1 when they last were champs. Good things come to those who wait.
