I can answer that for you KBF. All the former players here that are now in Edmonton play in a better system with better players around them. The result is they're playing better than they did here. It's better.

Agree with this. The 'big' free agent signings we've had this off-season have looked rather pedestrian thus far. Even Medlock has missed a couple FGs, I know he can't hit them all, but that one he missed tonight really bit us later in the game, even a rouge would've pulled us within 3 and we would've likely limped to an OT loss instead... then again hindsight is always 20-20.

The film won't lie. If guys were open down field and he was dumping it late in game, he should be benched no matter how much he is making. A leader needs to be looking down field for the win when the game is on the line. As I have said before, he is not calling the plays. Need sideline routes to stop clock, need longer strikes down field. He was f'n around like they had 5 minutes on the clock

Yeah, I really don't get the play-calling... they could have managed the clock much better near the end of both the Montreal game and the game tonight...as well as before the half in the Calgary game when they botched a potential field-goal attempt. Every other team seems to understand the concept of getting out of bounds = free time out when the game is on the line.

As for how long Willy's leash is... this loss is definitely on the offense. By no means did Willy play well tonight, but personally I thought things really started to go south for the offensive unit as a whole when one of our O-linemen (I think it was Jermarcus Hardick) checked out with an injury.

I'm with you on this, nor do I want to see Dressler or any other player of great importance returning punts, too risky.  It would have made sense to give Flanders some game action without risking injury to any of the starters.

I agree here, not only would having Legett return kicks make him more prone to injuries, it could also tire him out more for when he plays D. Especially if we see the Winnipeg 2-and-outs tomorrow on offense.

A home win would be nice, been to rare lately.

Since moving to IGF the Bombers have sadly only had 7 regular season wins at IGF (2013 - 1, 2014 - 3 and 2015 - 3)...that said, I think if we have a decent home crowd turnout, and provided the Bombers don't shoot themselves in the foot at the start of the game, I think we've got a chance.

This thread is hilarious, when do they start calling anyone with a negative opinion Bomberphobic?

It will be Bomberphobia, if this stuff keeps up......

Just wanted to point out that the "-phobic" and "-phobia" suffixes imply fear of the root word i.e. fear of the Bombers. I don't think anyone should be fearing the team we've put on the field at this point...

  6. More Canadian depth is always welcome. Assuming you guys are right about pending injury news... some fresh guys - whether starters or just guys on the PR is probably not be the worst thing for this team right now. Of course, one would hope none of the unannounced injuries are to key players.

  7. Fair point, tracker. I guess it's kind of a case of "pick your poison" really. That said, if we're going to have another year missing the playoffs, I'd rather miss them at 2-16 or whatever than end up being 5-13 or something. I always hate that point in the season when the Bombers start running out of games but they aren't mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. Always makes me think of that part in Dumb and Dumber ... "so you're sayin' there's a chance!"

I'm not a huge fan of O'Shea, and I do agree with you, the coaching needs work, but he's not totally to blame.  I agree with 17 as well, we just don't have the personnel.  Walters is good at trades and Cdn talent, but where are all the Americans?  We still don't have a breakout WR.  We're still missing some good Import Olinemen.  And we're still missing a few key guys on defense.  I think Floyd hit the nail on the head.  Walters is good, and he'll be a great GM someday, but he should have been an assistant for a few more years behind someone with more experience.

Speaking of breakout WRs, whatever happened to Chris Matthews? I remember him going down south and having a good season with the Seahawks... is he still playing? Anyone know?

As for coaching - I don't feel we should fire O'shea - by no means do I think he's good. Just long-term I think it'd be better to just let him run out the remainder of his contract and let him walk. I don't think a mid-season coaching change (be it week 3 or later) would result in us managing to make the playoffs, at least not with the current group.

  9. Unfortunately this season is already starting to look like the 2013 season in terms of how we're just getting blown out like this. We might be able to steal a couple of wins here and there when teams underestimate us, but from what we've seen so far this team has a long way to go before being legitimately competitive. The bigger problem this year though is if things continue on the current trend, the Bombers don't have a shiny new stadium to artificially inflate our home attendance numbers.

  10. It'd be interesting if someone could define the "cut-off" when the other team's defenses really start to let up - then you could just back out any subsequent offensive production after that and see the Bombers offensive numbers for what they really are. Even if you took the 4th quarter production out of both of those games it'd be a better indicator of how the offense is doing when you only include #'s from when the opponent's defensive unit was still competing at its highest level.

  11. Hi everyone,

Long time bomber fan, been a season ticket holder since 2011 season. Gotta say I can't relate to some of the older members on here that remember better days for the blue and gold. Never seen the blue and gold win the GC but I look forward to it someday.

    Nice to meet everyone.
