Cut Down Day - - Wild Assed Guesses (WAG System)
wbbfan replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
last year we'd a been chomping at the bit to sign him. Good player he is gonna catch on some place. Maybe the riders. Id a kept randle and white around on the pr. With the injury history of demski, dressler, and adams + the drops/bad year last year by bowman Id rather be stocked up at WR then any other position right now. I also would have kept monty. This is true, and bowman has always been a guy who misses a lot of passes. BUT he is the perfect red zone fit for us. And we dont need him to go for 2k yards. -

Its the yankees rule about TRUE yankees. And its also idiotic. On our DL, he brought in poop and jeffcoat right? and a few guys this year that could well end up starting on other teams. Jsk. bond and hardrick he salvaged from other teams scrap heaps into all stars so they dont count. Loffler, chungh, goosen, the massive amount of talent we suddenly have at ni WR, corney, etc also dont count though. Cus its not like he took the worst NI depth in 20+ years and turned it into an elite group of NI talent, and that isnt the same as us guys. We cut better import players then some teams bring in. -
Its true. They also need deep cover help and as much aid in covering seams as possible. We have the personnel to make that work now. But imo, passive defense is bad defense. (and football in general)

he was the guy I hoped we would grab, it was a weak top end to that draft though. -
mos cant/wont make the tough veteran cuts. Who knows what lapo would do. with the addition of bighill, addition by subtraction of hurl and improvements from second year guys and the crazy deep DL the defense is well positioned to carry hall.

I dont like the alexander cut. smacks of when we cut frederick. Good db but we go for a so so db and a so so STs guy. Monty, awoleke, and casher did every thing you could hope for. 1, how we cut them and keep brandin bryant (didnt mos say pre season games counts for more the TC?) is beyond me. We bring in guys, never play them in the pre season and cut them after the pre season. Just wasting time and resources. If we cut ogopogo who was easily out performed by montgomery and earns a TON more money we would be better, younger and on the path to freeing up room to bring back bond. is judge in camp with the riders? -

well right now hardrick is injured so he'd come in and we'd start a NI tackle like couture. Long term probably a rotation yeah. Or a NI db. -

i had the same thought lol. -
Co bone head award for the left side of the line playing turnstile too long, and the general run blocking tnite. The OL was smallish though and that can happen when you play a smaller ol.
-
They did a really great job against bcs starters when the offense moved the ball. They just got wore down when the B team wrs came out and the offense ground to a halt. With those DBs, bighill JSK poop nevis jeffcoat roe and montgomery the D looks scary good.
-
agree montgomery right now might be better then jeffcoat was at this time last year. I think ogopogo is going to fall victim to younger cheaper guys with more up side. Corney seems to have turned the corner as well. With him and thomas I think the writing is on the wall for ekakitie. Kyrie wilson showed well too. Cant make the club from the tub, augustin has been good and lafrance has missed a lot might start out on the 6 game. rueben randle, kenbrell, and white we probably keep 2. One might end up stealing a job.
-
The secondary will be upgraded a great deal just by having deep cover help. bighill can play a 2 deep spot, and will cover a lot of ground under loffler who will go back to play a deep cover. Also it will be better from not having health gamble a lot. Gaitor is a gigantic ugprade over starting last year with roc etc, and with a second year for alexander. + with all the pressure we can create and actually having guys who can pass rush on blitzs from the LBing core the amount of time qbs have will go down. So yes. And if mo comes back and is his hold self or close to it the difference is gigantic.
-
he will be the sam yes. its probably that when mo comes back if he is back to his old self he will play HB and fenner will stay at sam. I think cooper will play his want into a DI role with teams work, and conteh as well.
-
randle alexander fogg gaitor and loffler start with fenner. walker cooper and conteh stick around.
-
randle, fogg, gaitor, walker, alexander and probably cooper stick. conteh as well.
-
two really good throws yeah.
-
playing like the 5th string wrs arent cutting it too. the whole offense has been a mess since the second group of wide outs went out.
-
1 Petermann. Showed some great hands, great ethic and ran like he was on a jail break every play. The chip block on willis was a thing of beauty. 2 Ross. Probably won the start for week 1. 3 The whole dang DL. Daniel awoleke 2 sacks, tons of pressure up the middle. sam montgomery got a ton of pressure, drew a bunch of penalties and made a few plays side line to sideline. Corney was really clicking tnite. Putting it together putting great pressure on, running down guys from behind. and chris cashner same as the rest. HH Reuben randles td catch. bennett tossed a huge duck, randle comes back makes his man miss and tucks it in for the score. Honorable mention to cooper who had a vicious hit on teams early in the game.
-
not since the days of more then 2 pre season games any how.
-
baba yaga, I heard he scored a TD with no blockers and just a pencil. A frickin pencil!
-
Chungh is a very good guard. Switching from guard to tackle is very tough. couture is the tackle body type and has the quickness. Chungh is probably quick enough but it isnt an optimal situation for him. I dont see it as any surprise. couture is a c/t ideally. Couture has a chance to steal newfs spot as a tackle, spooner at guard, dont sleep on speller either. I could see speller taking our center spot, goosen going to guard with chungh hardrick and bryant.

Will Streveler Be Our James Franklin?
wbbfan replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
i hadnt heard he is injured. Adams isnt a stop gap back up. He is a very high upside prospect with two training camps in the cfl under his belt. Enough seasoning to be tested. He is a guy you pick up and keep to groom as well not a rental. If we get him, great. Love the talent good fit not a crazy deal and he pushes streveler. If we dont, No big deal. Streveler + bennett behind nichols in a few weeks will be fine. -
Hamilton shopping Vernon Adams

Hanging on the ball too long wasnt a problem. Our Ol was a siv before hardrick slid over and bond came into the starting line up. he was dropping back every pass down and throwing the shortest routes possible right away. High completion percentage, low yards through the first half to 3/4 of the game low td production and low turn overs. he was very conservative even in plops offense. To put into context the OL changes we made with nichols, we went from 10+ qb hits and 3-4 sacks a game to going weeks with out a qb hit, while having time for deeper passes. Also, harris behind that line was averaging under 2 yards per carry. He got few carries and still the D was on him in the back field all the time. over 5ypc with bond and the hardrick shift. I dont think our OL will be as good as it was last year (short of going back to 3 imps and starting foketi) but it will be a good ol. As long as newf isnt at tackle. Even better if he is a back up or less. And we have the guys to grow and develop as good a line in the long run, while starting an extra NI on the line. Yeah glenn for a few weeks would be a solid option. If hes starting still come LDC though we are in trouble. -
The only thing nichols injury ensures is that nichols wont play this week. Also that we will carry 4 qbs for a bit. (nichols on ir +3)
