Honestly I see them having no chance at all of stopping our run. I could see us having a gigantic game rushing and that minimizing the passing yards. If you cant stop or slow down harris, what are you gonna do when lucky hits you on the fly sweep? Or demski on the play action sweep? or when the streveler package comes on? Youre gonna give up more rushing yards then any other team in the league this year. If not the most in a few years. 338 yards is the record for most combined offensive yards in a game. 287 yards in a game is the rushing record. Those may not fall. But it could be a record for team rushing yards in a game. One of the worst Ds in modern history vs a great rushing O. Look out.

Agree, and I hope he succeeds, as much as I can for any rider qb. The league needs fresh blood at QB to succeed. I love the streveler tool set. His head set and the way he plays football. From another small sample size this pre season I didnt see him taking the next step I had hoped. But he may have, and he may yet take it this year. He got his spot by his play more then practice last year imo. But at worst he is an extremely athletic guy who protects the ball. What sean mcguire has shown as a passer has me pretty happy. In a perfect world Id say bring both along and continue to develop them both. At this point I wouldnt give streveler star qb money. That could change this year of course. But at the very worst I would love to have him back and would have no qualms with those two being our 2 and 3 going forward.

Bout what id expect and what most people observed. Im a big believer in the Bill walsh Wr target zone and passer accuracy. Hitting wrs in stride and not forcing them to dive, reach back, stop etc is key. The lack of consistency in pocket positioning concerns me. We saw a lot of nichols under center last week, a bunch of roll outs (i was in favor of this mid game and still am) pistol and shotgun. The amount of time nichols and plop have been together, they should have a bread and butter for dealing with pressure and a healthy comfort zone. This wasnt on display last week or this year. That can very well lead to the kind of troubles weve seen this year.

Its kind of what the riders have done as far as qbs since durants departure so yeah id agree. Or you could search the riders forum for his name and see how many posts pop up pining for him. I've always like Fajardo. He could be really good. Thus far its a tiny sample size against some real bad defense early in a season where all the teams are showing rust. Look at what offenses with elite qbs and talent have done vs our d, vs what every one has done to the als and argos. The biggest disparity in the league right now is in defensive play. The big thing for any pro but especially a qb and a mobile one at that isn't how they start. Its how they play after the defenses around the league get film on them and adjust play calls to counter them. Weve seen tons of flash in the pan qbs like this. Both davis and fajardo are over achieving. I dont expect either to end up with a year average any thing similar to what they are doing now. Should we see streveler this year it will be the showing of if he has taken the next step and cant adapt beyond what defenses do to him. Also the fact you facetiously miss spell his name to fire shots tells me you arent the most secure in this very recent bloom of Fajardos. Not really the type of thing contending teams worry about. If streveler doesn't play at all this year, it means very good things. Then we find another in the off season. Just like we did with our OL, and JSK, and S, and whitey etc. Wolves don't concern them self with the opinions and actions of sheep.

The bombers were in on the bidding for bruce to return but the argos won by a narrow margin iirc. A lot of sore feelings on that one.

I hoped for MCcallister, but he may well have been offered a PR spot and declined it any way. This is a great fit. I guess Augustine draws back in once again.

Or how good our depth has gotten.

Should do one of those all time team threads with the dirtiest Ols and Dls in history. (league wide)

Thatd be fantastic.

The biggest sign of a bad team is wasting good talent. Arbuckle made some really impressive throws.

Have trouble seeing him with offers from every team. Probably NFL camp invites with no contact and holding out for the cash. It'll be interesting to see

Could be. He was alot more effective when used as a stand up pass rusher. Id like to see more of that. Create some angles for him. Maybe a package with a 30 front where richardson and thomas play 3-4 ends nevis on the nose and we use WJ as a Jack linebacker.

Masoli vs the als hope to be masoli-light. last week the tigernaughts put up 64. Its normally hard to follow up such a high scoring performance. The als nearly stole one from the Moes. Im gonna pick the upset with the als winning a low scoring game.

@ the crowd issue, A thursday game right before canada long weekend is idiotic. Weekday games in general suck. Idc whose fault it is, scheduling, stadiums what not. When you have an extra day you shouldnt be having weekday games. -
It was a big talking point in the chat last night, you are not alone. Late in the game he clearly turned it on too. The way we rotate linemen that shouldn't happen.
-
Yeah not 100% sure, but if they did like you say it wasnt any threat to score. Will have to see on a second viewing. Yeah they did. They really stood tall in the red zone.

It is some times. There are times when its too risky to throw away the ball and you have to eat a sack. Nichols has done it in the past. Injuries dont change that fact. Some times an end comes free or a center whiffs and you have to protect the ball and limit the damage you take in a sack not risk trying to throw it away.

This is a good point, we have historically struggled coming off a bye week in this era.

I think our Wrs and tackles played well. Interior ol didnt play bad. But the rest of the offense and the offense over all struggled. A lot of players didnt play well. Obviously whitehead and mathews looked great when the ball went there way. But the wrs blocking especially on whiteheads screen was great. its on the coaches now to get better execution and use better strategy and tactics. And for the players who had rough games (and thats a fist full of guys) to play better. I expect that to happen next game.

300 is a big number in the US game when they used to throw the ball 20-25 times a game. Its like 1500 yards rushing in a season it doesnt actually mean any thing in it self. Its just another number. However I would be interested to see the splits on W/L for teams with passing yards in the 350 and 400 range, 2 and 3 td passes, And a completion percentage over 70%. I feel like they would all be very close with a spike in win rate at 400, 3 or over 70%. If you looked similarly at 200 passing yards, under 300 total offensive yards, more punt yards then yards gained, 1 or less td passes, or and a completion percentage 50% or lower I think the result would be obvious. We won despite poor yardage production by the offense. We need better production for repeatable wins. Some factors are bigger then others, but its not a 1 dimensional problem.

In the two games so far he has tucked the ball and looked frantically to run with out extreme pressure. In the past when nichols has played well he has done a great job of knowing when to take a sack, and when he can throw it away. Some thing is a miss, but to be fair, the middle of our OL has a hand full of games in their careers. He was good over all in week 1. Rusty early but he didnt take many snaps in preseason. Last year he seemingly came back from injury early and had several bad games as well. Its not a 1 game thing. The offense disappearing for quarters and half's on end has been an issue since day 1 of plops return.

Passing yards aren't meaningless. That's just ridiculous. The cfl is an offense first league, and a pass first league on top of that. If you dont drive the field you dont score. If you dont move the yard sticks the defense gets left out to dry and after a few weeks a good defense turns into a lazy one. When you put up under 300 total yards, and punt more yards (over 100 more yards punting then the offense gained) then your offense gains you have not had a good game as an offense. Or when the other teams offense has twice the TOP you do. Our wrs played well. The rest on offense need to do better. Did we really need another thread on this though? Its all thats being talked about in every thread right now...

It came up in another thread (or this one maybe) last night. I dont recall the moes even taking a shot to the end zone last night. When I re watch the game Im gonna dig into those redzone attempts. Between their attempts and our D the red zone was a no fly zone last night for the moes. In the past when weve seen qbs wrack up yards and not be able to finish drives (not far back) Ive felt that we could have done better with play call and design. But ive always given more blame to offense then credit to a defense in the cfl for redzone struggle. With the width of the field, depth of the endzone, and number of targets and options I feel like you should be able to convert at a high rate even against a superior D.
