  1. Past hour
  2. he has, kid is soaking it up down there. he’s doing all the right things and working full time with the right people. the nfl will pass him by if he doesn’t crack an ar this year or gets hurt, it’s all gonna end real fast. tbh i think he deserves a shot on the ar of an nfl this year. I don’t think the lions are willing to take the plunge which is silly. they say they do but he’s camped on the back end of the depth chart. Which happens a lot with high upside prospects.
  3. yup....and with Manu he has improved, but still 4th on depth chart...next yr is the yr for him to show he has earned a spot, as they will only put so much time into it...if 3 yrs in he not on the 53...they will likley move on
  4. because his financial best interest is to sit down south the whole year and try to get on a pr. a short stint on an nfl pr would be more than a whole year of playing up here on his contract. if he sits, he maximizes his chance to earn this year, next year he could go ufl (if it stays in existence) then back to the nfl, or he could enter free agency in the cfl off the nfl and get a fat deal from any one. or try to get another nfl deal. His worst financial move would be to come back here and finish his basic contract.
  5. yeah....sit Wilson for a bit and let Ayers run with it....Ayers has upside and yrs ahead of him.....Wilson not so much, and part of reason we in the pickle we are with roster...guys not transitioned in effectively. At this point Ayers is the better LB but gets the back seat due to Oshs penchant for favoring/valuing vets too much, and really Ayers been here now 2 yrs...It's more than time to make the move and he's definitely "earned" the shot If we feel the need to continue to dress 45 linebackers then yeah slot Woods in for Logan, especially if we are able to dress Echols right away. You then have another returner option with CFL experience doing it with him and Vaval
  6. i expect both elgersma and manu to start out on the pr out of camp
  7. love ayers. i’d rather take kyrie off and play ayers. tbh id consider taking logan back off for woods. i think we got a few options though. he only plays end in defensive heavy set packages. so goal line 3rd and 1 etc. hate dandy being cut. guess some one had to go probably staying in town. Cobb on is a given with injuries imo. atleast this week. woods runs like a mofo for a big man. which is usually a given here for imp dts. Yeah like echols. swerve is worth a shot but off an acl is a big question. echols i think is a very high floor guy who could fit really well with zach
  8. Woods has played coverage on teams, and if you add Bailey for Thomas, he can play on coverage as well.....and as said someone else would pick up the slack A special teams guy who is not a big time returner is not gonna make or break you...A guy on defense who can take 20 reps or so, and have impactful play as well as allow the other's on the dline to play that much better too Ayer's basically takes reps on short yardage packages...Woods obviously would as well being a legit dline guy, and he plays defensive reps...and plays them well and plays on kick returns as well as field goal unit...so it's really a win win more I looking at it the more I like the Echols signing
  9. few transactions today: Echoes and Moore signings confirmed. (both added to practice roster) Sterns transferred to the 1 game injured list. Dandy released. Cobb transferred to the active roster.
  10. @DTonOB how many defensive snaps has Ayers taken the last couple of games?
  11. Today
  12. and it's getting even worse....I feel like we just got the Wildbrain channel, what sucks is that we're losing Goosebumps and AYAOTD all over again.....is Goosebumps cursed it's like whenever a network picks it up it only lasts for like a couple of years longer (which is what happened with Teletoon Retro)
  13. Yeah, it’s really a pretty easy decision. If Ayers actually played on defense, it would be tougher.
  14. Someone else would make tackles on special teams. Look i like Ayers plenty, but he's a luxury and woods would provide more benefit to the defense which IMO outweighs a special teams player.
  15. He had 4 ST tackles. He's good but its a luxury and one we can't afford. Woods taking 15-20 reps at DT (or more) would help our club way more than Ayers playing teams.
  16. And assuming he wouldn't get a guarantee in his new deal, we could always walk away if he doesn't produce to a level that warrants a bigger salary.
  17. Manu isn't going anywhere. The Lions are happy with his progress, even if he's still a project for them. Packers are announcing their cuts tomorrow apparently so we'll find out soon enough but I don't expect Elgersma to be released.
  18. Do you think he's going to completely pass on any opportunity he might get in the NFL for the 2025 season for $30,000 Canadian? PR salary in NFL is $13,000 US per week. The competition is NFL and spring leagues that allow guys to leave immediately for NFL.
  19. Nope. Nope. Nope. Take his Jersey, put it up in the dressing room and let him help coach the Dline if he wants to. 🙂
  20. You do it to entice him to come back sooner rather than later, good will offering going forward locking him in for longer etc etc.
  21. You honestly think he has any NFL hope? I don't. He has zero teams value and is a 2x NFL early cut. IF he wants to keep playing it's the CFL or nothing this year. He can retire from football, but that is his only option for making money from now until April. I would be shocked if he isn't back here honoring his rookie contract while negotiating for an extension.
  22. No doubt about it. Totally had to add receivers, just sad it got this far. Where does everyone get the idea we need to offer him a contract? He is already under contract should he choose to come back. He may ask for a new contract in order to come back but his only option is Winnipeg in the CFL. Not really a great bargaining position if he wants to play.
  23. Every team would then start a Jake Thomas. Not just us. So just Wilson confirmed currently. Any other bombers related or maybe cfl free agent related cuts? Manu? Elgersma? Any non bombers cfl free agents cuts we could use?
  24. They do but they keep signing him. So at this point Jake will retire when he retires and that’s when he won’t be a bomber. He’s going out on his terms. I think we should all just accept that. Personally I would let him go because he’s the guy I look at and go not good enough, want to show ppl you serious about winning. That’s the easy move to make. Release Jake cuz literally everyone would understand. MBB and bomber fans world wide would all be like we get it. Best of luck Jake. Nobody would be like that’s Bullshit they let him go. Unite the fanbase and release Jake Thomas. Playing him and starting him and giving him as many reps as they do is just embarrassing and appears like actively trying to lose.
  25. No doubt. I think we would have had to cut our NAT starter numbers in half and probably trim overall roster numbers to keep our game from scrubs being played.
  26. Ayers had the second most tackles last week and he plays special teams only really. Dude ain’t coming off. He is our special teams.
  27. I don't have the overall roster numbers per game this year, but Calgary, Montreal, Saskatchewan, and Toronto have all carried a bunch of bodies and rotated heavily on the DL. Calgary has 8 ol on the ar right now, 6 of which are imps. The Argos have 7, with 5 imps. The riders have 9, with 6 imps and 1 global. The Als have 7, with 3 imps plus Johnson on the IR. Those 4 teams are the top 4 teams at rushing the passer in the league. They combined have 98 sacks, the remaining 5 combine for 75. Calgary and SSK are likely the 2 best Ds in the league right now. For my money, Montreal is in the top half of defences as well, pretty easily. ott, is running 9 dl with 3imps and 1 global. Edmonton is running 10dl, with 5 imps. Bc is running 10 with 5 imps. And Hamilton is running 7 with 5 imps. We've got 7, with 4 imps. Though we ran more than half of the year so far with 6 and 3-4. So the TLDR is, average league-wide is 8.22 DL on the ar, 4.66 imps. Each team starts 1, and Di/back-ups just under 2. If you have Canadians who can pass rush, or fringe starters as back-ups rotating heavily, you can get away with less. If you don't, teams are running a lot of DL to rotate currently. But we are not doing really either. We don't put out a lot of DL bodies, and we don't have quality ni pass rushers.
