Apparently Jovon Johnson hired as position coach for the Argos... From 3DN: "The Toronto Argonauts are set to hire former CFL standout Jovon Johnson as the team’s defensive backs coach, per sources. The 42-year-old has spent the last six years coaching at the high school and collegiate levels in the United States, most recently as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach at Gannon University."

He is correct about that based upon how he’s mismanaged player evaluation/value for quite some time now, he should put his head down 😠.

I mean, I am only surprised we didn't lock him in before the year-end and use up cap space from last year. It's a wild time. I think teams are going to over spend projections before free agency starts, making it more affordable and competitive. It's crazy how we went from a team that didn't pay DBs, to having one of the most expensive secondaries in the league. (We were pretty high on that list last year too) QFT

I’d bring Gus up and sit Namestnikov. He has been brutal. When was the last time he got a damn point? Isn’t he still at 8? And playing on the 2nd line for most of the season?? How is that acceptable? I know Gus isn’t an offensive force, but he’s leading the Moose in points ( not overly impressive, I know), he’s defensively sound and has usually been solid in face offs. I’d also be fine with Yager or Chibrikov being called up…. Zhilkin just seems like a lateral move at best.

Average league salary is pushing $130,000 with current cap number and the rookies still make under $90,000....significantly less for American rookies. These numbers aren't outlandish. Teams are ready to pay $250,000+ for decent Canadian OL and starters now. The "highest paid" whatever headlines today are kind of laughable considering 45% of the league are free agents. That's going to change by February.

I don’t think this should be a surprise. If you lock up any young All star player, prior to free agency you already know they’re going to be getting compensated by choosing not to make it to free agency.
