Listen I'm the guy here mostly likely to have a beef with any former Rider, just based on hyper anti-Sask mentality... And, to my knowledge, I have ALWAYS said on here, once a guy left there to come here: "Get the Riders stink off him and we're good to go"... And just last week I was begging for AJ Allen to come here... And there's nobody that hates Sask more than I do. Nobody. And in other news, please God, let this happen....

Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread

Danny Mac played behind Tom Clements? Danny Mac never did. The backups in 87 (Clements last year playing) were Tom Muecke & some kid named Pete Riley who never saw the field. John Hufnagel was released & signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders. . -

Yup but Bc signed him first..he was backup in Wpg and Cal wouldn't pay him...so off he went. He played a couple of games in Winnipeg but we really didn't know how good he would be...playing behind Tommy Clements. -

Thanks, that's all I was talking about. You'd read the odd grousing here on MBB as well.
-
There were definitely some people not happy about bringing in Rider castoffs. Worked out well for us in the end but there was doubt about him.
-
Personally I enjoyed watching Dressler when he played for us. Doesn’t really bother me if a player comes from the Riders or any other team (we wash the stink off real quick) unless there are huge mitigating factors of said player where they have compromised the values they espouse as a club and as a community.

as I said we had the weakest corners in the league, yet we had the best pass defense, in terms of opponent completion %, then Nichols must be a superstar to cover the whole field -
He was never totally accepted. By SOME fans. Not ALL fans. Like do we nee That's what I mean. Like how hard is it to understand that, Piggy???? The more high profile the Rider player, the more hate.

If he came out and said tc was gonna be a true competition..earn the spot...no given's this yr Vets will not be guaranteed a spot...and if you don't produce...you won't play I'm gonna take advantage of rules afforded me this yr Those would all be changes and not sure who would blast that...and thats just scratching surface of changes that should happen He hasn't changed anything since 2019...so to say he does isnt entirely accurate -
Hardrick was hardly a Rider...one partial season and cut during season...
-
He was at the end of his career by the time he came here so yeah he been associated with the Riders for so long that I can see that. He also didn't have a big energetic personality that made you overlook that Rider stink. Guys like Willie and Yoshi made it hard to dislike them.

Dressler was never fully accepted. I would.

Winnipeg fans would love Emilus if he was here.

And who the actual Eff U C K cares who he played before????

Demski is a special case being that he's from Winnipeg & played for the Bisons. Not his fault the Riders drafted him.

I guess I have a hard time actually believing a professional coach with the much experience still hasn't figured it out yet. I;m more disappointed than angry. I could never imagine some the modern coaches saying that. McVay with the LA Rams, Harbaugh with the LA Chargers, Campbell in Detroit, Andy Reid in KC, Siriani in Philly. In the CFL, Dinwiddie in Ottawa, Maas in Montreal. Every training camp should be challenging & competitive. Same with practices & preparation during the season. I'm glad Osh is doing some self reflection & actually follows through on changes. -
Nic Demski. And fans like that need to get over themselves.

It sure seems like Osh is doing the very thing so many here said he wouldn't, which is reflect on ways he can improve. Some head coaches are more involved in certain aspects than others. This is seen everywhere in professional football. The easiest example being when an offensive minded head coach lets his DC have full control of that side of the ball, or vice versa. Or when someone gives up play calling to a coordinator (or takes it back). Training camp intensity varies among coaches too. You see stuff like this all the time in the NFL, where some coaches feel like practices are super important and some try to prioritize health more. Sean McVay had Matt Stafford do very little before the regular season. I guess I'm just trying to figure out what answer would appease people here. If he says that he's not going to change anything he will get blasted. When he provides literal, concrete examples of things he will change he also gets blasted. If you or anyone else just wants to hate on the guy then that is totally your call. I don't need to change your mind. I just find it funny that some posters have hammered all year that Osh doesn't change or reflect on his work but clearly does. -
Willie and Yoshi did not seem to have any issues here, being former Riders.

Permission to talk: Is O'Shea leaving?
SpeedFlex27 replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What was our Head Coach doing all season long? He talks like he didn't coach & just checked out leaving any responsibilty to others on the coaching staff. See,ms like Osh has just been coasting. Saying he has to take more responsibility in the day to day coaching of the team is just flabbergasting for a head coach of 12 years to even admit that. Then his comments in 2024 that training camp was too easy & laid back which led to our 0-4 start & a rash of long term injuries. Like, WTF??? How did Osh earn a 3 year deal coaching like that to hamstring the team if he just carries on like before???? -

No viable option? Terry Wilson might have been able to save the game, but we will never no and O'Shea made sure of that. He will do so again, given an opportinity. -
One hit to the knees & both guys are done. Again. Bringing them back even after a 2 year absence is madness. Time to let them go. Rehab whatever they are entitled to & then cut them. Nield would be a welcome addition here. He can run downfield & make contested catches. Clercius is a tank. And runs like one. Can any former Rider receivers ever find happiness in the Blue & Gold? Would we Bomber fans accept Emilus or Nield? Look how hard it was for both Ryan Smith & Weston Dressler to play here. There was always a small group of Bomber fans who never forgave them for being former Riders.
