Lawler broke 1000 yards once in his career to put this into perspective. Back in 21 and has never played a full season in reality. Schoen has broken over 1000 yards in both seasons he was healthy and played 18 and 16 games. Lawler has 25 TDs in 63 games. Schoen has 27 in 38 or so games. They kept the right guy. Lawler ****** off. I’m sure they offered him a fair contract. I mean the guy hasn’t broken 1000 yards in 4 seasons now. Is almost 300k the going rate for 900 yards? besides aren’t ppl going off on how Zach and his arm is washed. What’s it matter if lawler is here and Zach throwing 60 yard passes 50 yards. Isn’t the problem the QBs inability to actually throw a deep ball ?? You could have 5 Jerry rices or milt stegalls in their primes and im not sure it would matter if the qb was throwing into triple coverage half the time.

We went withe the guy coming off of complete knee reconstruction.

We had many on here saying the amount Lawler was paid was insanity due to the amount of games he only played the last few years. What do we do then?

The decision to pay Schoen who can't stay in the line up & not Lawler is going to cost us more than money
-
Bottom line is Calgary was prepared for us and Bombers were not prepared. Overall it looks like Bombers hit their high water mark last year but the lack of preparedness for the opponent is on the coaches. My main takeaway: Collaros has become a receiver killer with his noodle arm and lack of accuracy. No wonder Schoen and Demski are hurt, they have to jump 12 feet high to snag the pass, or it's behind them, or it takes far too long to arrive. Many saw this coming 2 years ago - hoping Bombers would promote Dru Brown. Hopefully Jarious Jackson can intervene and help devise better schemes to help a QB who is in decline and has no O line protection. I know it won't happen but would prefer if Strev starts next game at QB.

Thing is they had the Ehlers vs necas trade agreed upon. I mean sure this is like ppl going on about past grey cups tho. Irrelevant

1. DL. Hot garbage. Jake with 2 tackles is the same as Willie and Devin adams and 1 more than Vaughters. 2. DBs. They were owned in the first half. 3. Zach. The pick 6’s are game changers. 4. People who put coaches on here when it’s obvious the coaches were not happy with the effort. Effort is on the players not the coaches.

3 goats and crappy honker stupid bowl

1. MOS/coaching staff. Just woefully unprepared in every aspect. The entire team had a lackadaisical mentality like the game would eventually just work itself out. From starting a guy with the flu at defensive tackle to not being able to use a challenge in the most blatantly obvious situation. Playing dink and dunk down 3 touchdowns. Just baffling decision making all around. 2. The DL, this partially falls on roster makeup but Willie is already gassed out at week 5, Vaughters was a flat-out bad signing and Jake was good depth a decade ago. 3. Collaros. 2 pick 6’s and panicked and overthrew a wide open receiver on a sure TD. Crappy Honker- Randolph takes a brutal holding penalty on the first drive of the game which more than likely took 6 off the board. Non-Bomber crappy honker- The line judge who was giving Calgary extra full yards on multiple occasions. HM Devin Adams had a good game when he actually saw the field. Brady had some nice runs when he wasn’t falling down Clercius. -
Stats are wild. Jake had the same amount of tackles as Willie and Devin and 1 more than Vaughters. Tony who sucked lead the team with 8 tackles. Stats. Holm had zero

I’m not gonna fault Walters because of hindsight. I agreed with the decision then and I think knowing what we knew then it was the right move. Lawler chased dollars on a bad team for a second time, after royally screwing up here and not living up to expectations or pay here. That said, we’d be much better off having over paid Lawler and let schoen walk. Maybe schoen isn’t 100% and have all the rust off. I hope he can get back to where he was. Right now he looks like post injuries Robert Gordon. And lawler is still a top end no1 wr. Roadhouse isn’t here right now, I hope he makes it back at some point.
-
Problem with Clercius is he's basically good at one thing. When they've tried him on other routes he's struggled. He's not quite what Wolitarsky was, but similar at Z. Demski is kind of that release valve type guy. He really needs to be the #4, oh D is so worried about the other 2-3 guys and forgot about him. Let him beat guys in press in the score zone, find him on 2nd-3rd read in a route again where D loses him. You shouldn't be running many plays for him downfield, and if it's covered you need to move off him, he's not the kind of guy who is going to win those contested plays very often. Case is probably a more realistic version of what they want from Sterns. Thicker, possession type guy.
-
This is a slippery slope. Stamps attempted 18 passes all game. They got up big and then played not to lose. The way the DLine was getting dog walked and the DBs were getting outworked by the receivers in the first half, had the offense had the juice to turn it into a shootout Adams likely would have ended up with 400 yards.
-
yeah all those linebackers are a luxury this team can't afford anymore. Time to make some hard decisions and give your aging DL some actual help.
-
honestly I am finished with Collaros. He has always liked to force tight windows but he doesn't have the arm to do it anymore and he gave the stamps 14 points trying to force things. He's just old and hasn't shown the ability to change his game. He's not the future and I'm not sure he's the present outside of the occasional game like last week. All this for a high price tag. Time to cut bait on some of the old players. 2019 was a long time ago.
-
Sure there is...he plays LB lol
-
I agree. I think for the rest of the year Wheatfall and Clercius need to be the 1-2, Schoen I’m afraid while not *toast* won’t ever be what he was. Demski is a good 3rd /sometimes deep threat, but again he’s never going to be healthy for a full season. It’s always going to be an ankle or something, especially with the way they beat the **** out of him with the close to LOS/RB type stuff they use him for. He just can’t be a consistent top option at this stage of his career. Mitchell is a big unknown but I have to imagine he’d be able to do more than Sterns in this kind of offence. Even as a field stretcher like they used Pokey Wilson last year. Add: Having Kody Case and Gavin Cobb as the only receivers on the PR is a catastrophic fail by the organization as a whole
-
and dress a 3rd who does nothing that I can see... meanwhile our 34 year old DE is gassed already and totally useless but no backup to be seen.
-
Yeah the DL was less than useless. 4 games in and willie is totally gassed. Jake is Jake and can barely even be a speed bump anymore. Fix the roster issues. If Eli isn't good enough to take Kolankowski's spot stop dressing him because 7 OL is a luxury this team can't afford.
-
Numbers aside, I don’t think the O, D, or kr team played well enough to win. That was a find any way to lose you can effort. The stamps coasted off early success because we let em too.
-
Osh...poor roster construct...not going for that 3rd and goal in 1st...keeping ZC and BO in as long as he did..not going for 2 and onside kick if not for anything to practice it..ho hum attitude on sideline..team obviously unprepared or poorly coached up...basically same ol song and dance Jake...korn..kolo..a bit lesser extent Jones and Kramdi..is that best we can do? and if so better start bringing in some bodies Kudos to Adams..Clercius..Wilson..Nichols...BO..Holm...they brought it all game That's about it...but man o man just getting the status quo same ol vibes...again Pretty sure Ayers got hurt...Not feeling good bout Schoen...as been in those shoes and didn't like what I saw...did Korn get more than 3..4 snaps and was it just at end in garbage? So why even dress him If Ayers is out is this the good Jones chance to get on roster? We definitely need some energy and youth/athleticism on the dline..Will we get Bailey and Person on roster if for anything to see what they bring/add...as the current combo save for 4 guys isn't cutting it and 2 of those 4 require the complimentary rotation pieces to bring their game up
-
It does need to be mentioned: With 2 pick sixes on the board, the D gave up 23 points. Most nights, that's a W.
-
Collaros has never really vibed with a receiver like that. More Darvin Adams, Greg Ellingson, Bailey, Fantuz. Get some big possession receivers (height and core) and a couple guys that are legit vertical threats. Wheatfall is a good fit, Clercius is a good fit, Demski is fine as a 4-5 guy. They are missing 2 out of top 3 receivers right now. Schoen isn't worth talking about because he's clearly playing at about 70%. There's going to be no consistency there this season.
-
Pretty sure Lawler is making $100k more than Schoen this year
-
So you'd rather throw 3 deep balls into quarters coverage and give them the ball back every possession? The game plan from the start was not good and they gave up on the run way too early. But you can't just come out and heave Hail Mary's every play even down 3 scores. Wouldn't be productive toward changing that score line.
