  2. He'll help for sure. I would not miss Osh if he left. He needs great players to win like any coach but his roster structure decisions means he needs more great players than a coach like Maas, Mace or Dinwiddie.
  3. Just to revisit the Shay pick, Walters literally said “we thought he was the best defensive player in the draft” So here’s my question If you think you got the best defensive player in the draft but the best defensive player in the draft isn’t good enough to get a single defensive rep in the first three months of the season, then why did we follow it up by drafting another defensive guy with our next pick? And a futures pick with our third pick? And trade up in the global draft to draft a defensive guy too? In a home Grey Cup year, if this guy isn’t good enough to see snaps then maybe we should’ve tried to do something else with that pick, no? or is O’Shea just not utilizing this guy properly? To me, that seems like the most obvious answer.
  4. Lawler having a good game. SMH.
  5. we keep drafted high upside guys to play low value spots and don’t move them up unless absolutely forced.
  6. So Wilson for Schoen (if injured)? If not, is it Wilson for Mitchell or Wilson for Logan?
  7. All I saw was him favoring a leg briefly after the play. Were there additional sightings/reports on his status?
  8. Curious if Schoen is on crutches. That's my big question going forward. Hoping to get to the one open practice they'd have.
  9. can add in lawson to that. i’d say adams too. problem is we are married to jake Glad wilson is back. hope he can recapture what he did last year and maybe take a step forward..
  10. thats true, but he also isn’t able to snipe a bunch of deep shots on frozen ropes any more either. he has to run and jump into a 30-40 yarder now to get it just deep enough to come back on. despite his tendencies, he also isn’t quick enough to get out deep shots that are open. but that’s how zach is as well. he’s not a guy who is fast to get the ball out. i like the call, with a different qb. i mean we did bring in some guys, and mitchell has done well when we go or him. logan doesn’t look close to 100%. shouldn’t be playing imo. 100% the right call. problem is that play call gave us 1 viable target short of completely blown coverage. that route started way to far away from the line. he broke and barely had any room left. you want to drag that route, put the db in trail position and get the ball out as quick as you can to spot and let the wr run it down. if a db makes an insane play or the wr knocks the ball up and the db catches it he doesn’t have any thing to work with. At that, you should have a crosser from the back side slot, and a deep fade to the corner so you got other places you can toss it off the wrs break and have a decent chance. maybe if you had some strong tail wind you think castillo can smoke a kick for a single that’s hard to field. but that would be a bad move vs going for two. it shouldn’t be hard to execute a passing play to convert a 2
  11. Probably only 2 practices this week. Not sure sure how severe Ball's injury is. Wilson in for Schoen?
  12. How many weeks ago was everyone on here shitting on Collaros for a first half in Calgary where he was forcing the ball into coverage? You can only take what the D gives. You can scheme to try to open up something vertical (and as you rightly identify you need protection to make that work regardless of what happens down the field) but against teams like Sask and Calgary that play the whole game in Cover 3-4 shells, you need guys to make plays once they get the ball. That's what the sport is. You really need a bust to complete a 12 yard pass on 2nd and 10.
  13. There was no other option than to go for two. Kicking a 1 isn't even a consideration. Just have to make it. In wondering if Schoen coming up limping there didn't play into the INT. Like if he's able to run at full steam, maybe he makes that catch or at least knocks it down...?
  14. That sums up the disconnect. We have a QB who needs a few seconds for things to develop, we have an o line that wants a Calvillo quick release. Second and long, throw within two years of the LOS isn't poor man's lapo though, by it's prime lapo. Please give the man all disrespect he is due. In the spirit of a Saskatchewan back to back, I want to make sure lapo gets the full woolerton treatment
  15. Why spend draft capital on guys when you don't want to use them? It just means you're playing lower upside Canadians somewhere else.
  16. I think going for 2 when ZC threw that pick was the correct call. The only thing that screws that play up is unfortunately a turnover. Make the 2 point convert, you have a tie game Miss the the 2 point convert, you still need a field goal to win Kick the 1 point convert, you still need a field goal to win
  17. Today
  18. BLM has looked 'off' for several games now.
  19. Argos int, db gets stripped running it back former Bomber Dobson bats it out of bounds
  20. Outstanding punt block by the Cats. There's Miles Fox: reads the screen, changes direction, makes the tackle.
  21. Our secondary is an issue. That needs to be fixed pronto. We also need to get away from playing a 3 man front. We don't have the personnel on the DL to do so.
  22. I mean I would think they would have utility to do a lot of what Woodbey was doing last night behind/along side a 30 front. Edge rush, contain backer.
  23. I'd like to see Allen at the boundary corner. Neither of Vaval or Lawson are good enough players to be anywhere but field corner. Lawson has been getting better, Vaval really still figuring out what offenses are trying to do. Like that late 2nd down conversion to Johnson, Vaval is at the right depth to disrupt two routes, then he hammers down at Robustelli who is bracketed underneath and therefore not an option for the QB unless he's going to throw it right to us. Him vacating to the dig opened up Johnson for easy pitch and catch first down. Allen to me looks a lot more aware of route concepts and how the QB is trying to move him around. That deep shot him and Nichols both got caught watching Harris eyes and stopping their feet while the receiver obviously took advantage running by them. I think you could mold Kelly into a Ian Logan type safety. He's not completely lost in man all the time but just teach him to stay on top of everything and come downhill.
  24. @JuranBoldenRules, how would you use Shay and Smith if you were DC? I'll also open this up to anybody else who wants to answer.
  25. Why not just put Vanterpool on for Logan? What does Logan bring to the table if we can't block anything anyway? OL is so fundamental to doing anything consistently on O. Build that out first then fit the skill guys around it. **** if you need 4 imports, you need 4 imports. Do Peterson for Cobb. Cobb never even set foot on the field. Can do a lot of things on D to get another DB on. Personally don't think Vaval should start and return too. Other guy they could get on is Echols who is very capable returner and receiver. I'm sure Echols would be fine to gun on punts and kickoffs too.
  26. Man I hope Terry Wilson cashes in on the hype before he has to take any real reps. Yeah the real difference on points ends up being the exchange on the QB fumbles. They punch it in. We kick a FG. We also missed a 49 yard FG which is basically routine at this point. People are very negative but the way both teams played very undisciplined in that game it was basically a coin flip. Both OL's were pretty terrible. Sask was far more committed to the run, especially once they saw how Harris was moving.
  27. That decision was fine. Don't want to put the ball up for grabs. He didn't **** around, he tucked it and didn't scramble to try to make something out of nothing and lose more yards. Lost 4 yards to give Castillo a 49 yard kick well within range. The point people seem to be missing largely on that situation is the clock. If they bring in short yardage crew they basically burn 2 plays. Could pop Collaros down to sneak or hand off, but really no guarantee on the handoff that you get the first either. To that point we had one run play over 3 yards. The same people complaining about lack of aggression are complaining when they do the right thing situationally if you're going to try to score a TD there. The main problem with everything is lack of execution. Nothing was being blocked, run or pass. Heroic effort by Collaros and Oliviera (doing a lot of the work in pass pro) to keep us in that game offensively.
