Around The NHL 2016/2017

time for a new thread for a new season that begins today. Canada Day. Free Agent Frenzy.

Will the Jets trade Trouba?  Will they resign Scheif to an 8 year deal?

Will Boston, as heavily rumoured, offer sheet Trouba?  What about the rumours of the Jets in a three way deal with Edmonton and Avs?

Stay tuned!

  • This really pisses me off.  Teams like the Blues, Habs, and Bruins all hit a slight speed bump and they have no hesitation whatsoever in replacing the coach.  The Jets suck year-in and year-out and th

  • Where did Bill get $395 million?!?

  • What an idiot.  I have no patience for things like that.  Should be zero tolerance, 100-game ban for first offence, lifetime for second.  That's not an accident, that's not something that just happens

Did Noel get fired after a win?

It was a five game losing streak. But he was fired on a Sunday and Chevy admitted he called Maurice on the previous Tuesday.

Does this sound familiar?

"It's not just the last two games, it is the consistency factor," Cheveldayoff said, adding the team kept taking a step forward and then two steps back to stay around .500.

The club is 19-23-5 and 10 points back of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

by the way the jets are currently 20-23-4  compared to 19-23-5 when Noel was canned

We'll know soon enough if Maurice has lost the room.

It hasn't gotten this bad yet

I think he has and this is a last ditch desperation effort by a coach who knows he's on thin ice.

Jets will have to go 24 11 to have a chance at the playoffs. .. that means winning more than 3 In a row a few times. They are finished.

Yet Buffalo isn't much better off than we are.

And Bylsma is a stanley cup winning coach...

Says something.

Realistically, not yet. But soon, if we continue on the same path we've traveled the first half of the season.

Jets are basically right where they were when Noel was fired.

Agreed. Except they have better players than Noel had

Lawless doing yeomans work to deflect from the coaches.  You know someone at the top wants the fans narrative changed.

I wouldnt go that far.  I think he's good at telling the story that is accurate.  He has sources.  His sources told him coaching wasnt going to be changed but goaltending would..so thats the narrative he pushed against the grain of everyone else screaming for the coaches head.  I dont think he cares if they fire the coach or not...but Gary doesnt waste time on stories for the fans when he can write stories that are true.

Goaltending around the league seems to be going through an awful time.

Holtby lets in 8. Murray 7. Price 7 and has been struggling. Tonight Jake Allen and Hutton have allowed 6 goals on 16 shots. St Louis really struggling at the moment.

So the key to Saturday vs the Blues... shoot the puck and lots.

It also seems that the shooters are becoming so much more accurate.

Goaltender coaching seems to have forgotten there is a top half to the net.

It just shows you that every goalie goes through rough stretches.

Helle was about league average prior to his last 2 games.

Maybe Maurice isn't such a bad coach after all.

Interesting, that's what Pavelec said about Noel.

Confirmation that waiving him was the necessary thing to do.

Good luck Dave Tippett.

Burmistrov had a lot of chances in his first stint with the Jets.

Sens MacArthur is done...  looking for forward help

Maybe Staffford and Armia for Chabot?

And in his last stint also.  He had plenty of chances here

It would be close - Armia is a controlled asset with great fancy stats and Stafford is a nice throw-in who could go on a scoring streak

Armia and Perrault gets it a lot closer.
