The Wild Card race aka hockey's Final Four

This topic is for teams in the Wild Card race.

L.A.: We can write off L.A. as being a concern. After hibernating for most of the season the Cup champs have woken up and have won 8 in a row. No surprise. When you've won multiple cups recently you can take 50 games off and turn on the power when you need to.

4 teams - 2 spots...

Calgary: Kings play lately has knocked them down into the Wild Card race but they have a March schedule that is the best of all the teams included in this post. 15 games(7 home) with 10 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Minnesota: Pulled off the trade/gift of the year by getting Dubnyk. 14 games(8 home) in March and 6 against teams below them currently in the standings.

Winnipeg: 14 games(8 at home) and 5 against teams currently below us in the standings.

San Jose: Has a brutal March schedule. Of their 13 games they only play 3 teams below them currently in the standings. On the plus side, the least amount of games.

And the rest...

DAL/COL: Can not find the post from last fall but I called DAL/COL as missing the playoffs this year and that's holding up. Really seeing nothing changing in that department plus I just can't be wrong in my predictions :)

Conclusion...

Advantage Calgary/Minnesota

Or we could just win again and say to hell with them both

It would be nice to win tomorrow and end it there. Let Pavelec sit the final game of the season.

  • I'm gonna say it, but Chicago is a team that i could see struggling down the stretch too, They are without Patrick Kane now and their D leaves lots to  be desired, Jets aren't far back of them actuall

Winners and losers for April 3rd

Yes, Vancouver played but they are too far ahead IMHO.

Calgary +0 - 91pts

L.A. +2 - 90pts

We are now out of the Wild Card spot...for the moment.

They have been actively trying to win (one of the few who are) and were 5-1-1 before Anaheim.

I hate Orange County with the fury of a thousand burning suns, but yeah, go Ducks.

Speaking of Vancouver goalies, why do their tailors leave the umlaut off Eddie Läck's namebar? Is it too metal?

Because then the play by play people would try to pronounce it.

Nice of the loser oilers to even show up tonight

Winners and losers for April 4th

Everyone won

Calgary +2 = 93

L.A. +2 = 92

Winnipeg +2 = 92

Could be worse, we could be the Sharks.

A MUST win game against the Coyotes and they lose.

Wow, just wow.

As for the eastern race, what has happened to to the Pens and what do they do from here

Ya, really......the Pens are stinking out the joint and the Wings aren't doing themselves any favors either. Some rally good, tight  races to see who goes golfing early this year.

My heart cannot take this.. Both of my favourite teams are riding the razors edge with the playoff wild cards!

I think Vancouver is going to be odd man looking out on Sunday

I think Vancouver is going to be odd man looking out on Sunday

Wouldnt that mean they'd have to lose all their remaining games?

Calgary: AZ, LA and final game

I see win, loss

Winnipeg: MINN, STL, COL and final game

I see loss, loss, win

Final game of the year...

CAL @ WPG

They have 3 remaining could go 1-2 and be on outside looking out.

The Canucks play deadmonton, coyotes and Kings....they have split the games 2-2 against the Kings so far.

The nucks should win 2 of 3.

The Flames should win their next 2 as they are 3-1 against the Kings.

The Kings play Van, Flames, Sharks and Deadmonton.

The Kings and Van should make the playoffs.

If the Jets beat Colorado and Minny and lose to the Blues, the last game is huuuuuuuuuuuge.

I have complete faith that the Jets will make sure the Flames game is meaningless.  You can take that any way you like.

care to explain?

The Flames should win their next 2 as they are 3-1 against the Kings.

But - and this is a huge but - they only played the Kings once since the all-star break and that was a loss.

These are not the pre-all star game L.A. Kings.

care to explain?

They will lose out.

The Flames you mean?

The Jets?

The Flames you mean?

The Jets?

somebody predicted that the wild are done. sweep leg I think.

hope they were right. They didn't look very good against Detroit.
