Goltz should be the starter

I watched the game on my PVR today and Max Hall simply doesn't have the mobility or the arm strength to win in this league.

I liked Max's composure and his ability to make reads, he does also throw a very nice soft pass. But yikes he is slow as a snail and he throws horribly when on the run and he was lucky that he didn't have around 4-5 interceptions. His bullets down the field were very dangerous and under thrown.

It's to bad because he makes the right throws and when he can plant his foot he can throw very nicely placed Ricky ray like passes.

I think Goltz however is way better suited for the cfl, his ability to buy time with his feet and the ability to throw darts makes him a way better option.

I would surprisingly make Buck our backup and Hall the bench warmer. Hall simply can't play with this o line.

Anyone agree?

  • I'd start Hall next game because it makes sense to give him the same team he has already seen. But on that note, I don't know how any of out QBs can function in this system. Every game adjustments a

The most important skill for any quarterback, by far, is the ability to read a defence. Goltz is easily the worst at it. Ray is slow as old crap, and throws a soft pass, and makes out just fine. Hall

and if you don't throw missiles you can't win? Give us a break...Jyles for one! and many others

Yup..;.you're right Goltz was perfect...didn't make any mistakes

Whoa, I wouldn't go that far, but he is the best QB we have currently however, ;)

Guess you don't understand scarcasm :)

While I do like Goltz, I actually thought Hall played better than Goltz did.

x2 (for thinking Hall was better... not for liking Goltz)

if we based it on the first half then yeah I agree but that 2nd half was not so great and made it a lot closer.

Nice thing about having a totally new OC is  he's not bound to anything the old one did. Let him decide who starts from now on & be done with it. The politics of Crowton is finished. All Marcel wants to do now is come in here & win some games. He'll have a fresh approach to who should start & who shouldn't. For now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

it will be very interesting to see who he starts

Let's not forget the teams Goltz faced compared to Hammy.  Hall turned them into Ball Hawks when no one else could.

Yeah, all 3 qbs haven't been world beaters so fighting over whether it's Hall or Goltz is pointless as I suspect there'll be other guys brought in.

We just canned an OC, or OL is suspect, some of our receivers are ???

And we're trying to evaluate inexperienced Quarterbacks?

I haven't read all of the threads so I apologize if this has already been discussed, but Hall reminds me a lot of Elliott. Not much of an arm and not much of an athlete, but still seemed to move the ball fairly well. The turnovers were another unfortunate resemblance.

The one thing I thought made Hall look more promising than Elliott is that he seems to be a more accurate passer.

Absolutely. Goltz had to face by far the best two defenses our team has played so far this season.

He did, but Goltz played against BC and Calgary. And Morley the pylon was still in @ right guard.

Hey if we had the kind of stats that Jyles had with us we would be sitting at 500 minimum....   19 tds to 7 ints is pretty damn good!

what part of Morley and B.C./CAL made goltz throw balls into the dirt when edwards and simpson were wide open and he had time or made every ball thrown on a crosser way off the mark?

Everybody knows the answer to that!

Question....does Marcel ask K Walters to give Q. Porter a call?

This season sure reminds me of 2009. Wasn't it just about now Kelly put in an emergency call to Michael Bishop?

Question....does Marcel ask K Walters to give Q. Porter a call?

I don't think so. He eventually got off the porter wagon and I can't see him getting back on.

Says the guy who had max hall as his avy on the extra point

Yeah I did, hence the wink. I just thought it would be funny to manipulate your post and turn it against what you were trying to get out. Bad sense of humour, I know

I don't remember that

IMO Goltz isn't ready to be named starter, throwing him in too earlier could end up turning Justin into another Porter.

At the same time though, how much time do we give him ?

In Calgary, Burris playing well lead to Tate sitting longer than even Huf probably would have liked, but let's be honest when Tate starter did anyone question if he should be the guy ?
