Gdt: Saskatchewan Roughriders @ Toronto Argonauts 11/07

btn-mini-ssk.png @  btn-mini-tor.png

   (2-0)             (1-1)

The first game of the week has the province of right angled borders invading the center of the universe.

The Riders look to remain undefeated to start the season, as the Argos are trying to bounce back after a less than stellar effort last week which saw them fall 24-16 to the Lions.

Rickey Foley will be having his first game against his old team, one that he helped to win a championship with his Most Outstanding Canadian performance in the 100th Grey Cup game.

For the third straight week Geroy Simon will be on the sidelines with a nagging injury. He has yet to play for the Riders after they traded import receiver Justin Harper and a 3rd round pick in the 2014 to the BC Lions in order to acquire him. Harper was later cut by BC during training camp. Geroy signed a new contract with the Riders, rumored to be worth $170,000 plus bonuses. When will the Riders start to see some production for the pay they are dolling out? As long as they keep winning, does it matter?

but not a real bad injury that you would look bad for cheering for. Just a little something like a high ankle sprain that becomes a nagging issue for pretty much the rest of the season.

  • With 22 people already on the IR, if half their roster got hurt they would litterally have a whole team on the IR.

Wow...that commercial with Chris Schultz...he has this teeny little pin head on this big body.  LOL

Sask. had a great running attack planned for this game and Sheets, with a lot of blocking help, executed it to his abilities.

Also, what they did to limit Ray's medium/long throws, allowed him only good QB ratings numbers and not much else.

No To. running game.

A strong performance once again by those #$%^ Riders.

They definitely rushed Inman back too soon.

Those hammies can become nagging re-injuries pretty quick. The way he pulled up with no contact on the play he got hurt is proof that you can't rush them back.

let's say that they went ahead and borrowed the gameplan the bombers used to beat the argos last season when Simpson and Ford ran all over the Argos.

I was out of town and listened to this on the Rider radio station.... worst decision I ever made.  Their offence seems to be firing on all cylinders (Sheets is ridiculous)  - but they station claimed they have the best defence in the league.... does this seem accurate at all?  It sounds like the defense barely showed up for the first and last quarter.

Never listen to the riders radio station. Being the biggest homer going is their entire MO. Plus the guys just flat out aren't that good. Bob Irving is never allowed to retire, us bomber fans are so lucky to have that guy doing games for us. You don't realize it until you actually listen to the crap other teams have to put up with.

the hype for the riders is always turned up to 11, this might actually cause the end of the universe as we know it.

Yes, Rider fans jerking eachother off (and crying "jealous" when everyone else is too revolted to join in)is a given but I meant TSN will be a willing conspirator insofar that it helps promote their GC coverage.

but TSN has always been in on the rider fan circle jerk. Hell I'd argue that they started it back around 2003 when the riders started to climb out of being the laughing stock of the league.

It really is quite grating. Nothing worse than having "Rider Nation" shoved down your throat every broadcast.

Saskatchewan looks good. Sheets is an absolute force out there right now.

I'm not expecting them to maintain this level of domination but they look like a real well oiled machine right now.

Some of our fluky turnovers are making up for the ducks Durant tosses up that should be picked and aren't.

Meh, let 'em peak around Labour Day.

Had the misfortune of listening to Rider Radio driving back to the Peg after LDC 2002. They were calling Rocky Butler a future hall of famer who was a cross between Ron Lancaster and Kent Austin.

I couldn't find the Toronto one... but I've learned my lesson.  Everytime they scored, "canada's team" scored.  Who would have known?!

there might not have been a Toronto broadcast.  I couldn't believe it myself but there are Argo games that have no radio coverage.  It's just ridiculous.  If you go on the Argo's site, the radio broadcast schedule from 2009 is still up.  No one has thought to update it in 4 years.  Just unbelievable.  This is the team the rest of the league gave $500K and a Grey Cup to last year.

The team of Mark Stephen on play by play & Greg Peterson as an analyst are excellent as well on Stamps broadcasts as well.

More on Cortez. Some guys are just meant to be coordinators... That would be George. Great offfensive football mind. Lousy head coach.

I thought TSN Radio did argos broadcasts.
