Kyle Walters re-signs as GM

Very glad to see Kyle, Danny and Ted locked up for 2 more seasons. Pretty obvious from KW's comments that big challenges are at hand. There's little doubt we are going to lose a good number of players to retirement and to free agency. More than in the past few off seasons. No more hometown discounts or players taking haircuts just to stay in Winnipeg. And if we lose Buck, which seems likely, that will immediately diminish the club's ability to fully evaluate everyone on the O side of the ball - O line, QBs, receivers, RB and positional money allocations and priorities there. (Until a new OC is in place). That's why everyone was so upset at losing the Big Game. It was the best last chance.

Player evaluations have already taken place...generally do the week after your lastgame, along with exit interviews....that will be of no issue and the other offensive assistants know just as much as the OC about the guys

I am currently suffering from denier's remorse. I was a big fan of Khari as a coach, but soured on him after Montreal and Ottawa. I keep getting this nagging thought that someone as smart and experienced as him just cannot be a flop. On top of that, he knows the city and has lotsa credibility here, so if Buck accepts the banzai head coach job the Riders (ugh), surely he would be worth bringing for a cuppa coffee and a chat as a possible replacement.

Not according to Walters, everything has been put on hold till Buck's future has been decided.

I mean that's like a week.  They are getting organized for sure.  I doubt Schoen or Oliviera are going to sign 3 year deals if they don't know who the next OC is.

Very happy that the big three talent guys are back for multiple years.

Exit interviews yes, player evaluations won't be done until they get together with the entire coaching staff in the next few weeks.

Walters looked relieved just being there & answering questions. Back to doing business!

For sure. Contract negs have to be very taxing on these guys and getting a deal done a huge relief.

There are players that don't live in Winnipeg in the off season & want to get home to see their families. Asking them to wait while the Riders sorted out their HC search would have been unfair. NMost would have said, "See ya" & left. You can bet these players had their exit interviews with Osh & Walters even if his contract hadn't been renewed yet.

Yeah...some were done within a day...
