What a garbage offer to Copp...  we're going to lose all our draft and develop guys

Do you know how arbitration works tho.  Apparently not. The 1 side goes ultra low the other goes high... Meet in middle.

This is the arbitration number.. 2.9 for an RFA like Copp is a bit high. The arbitrator will come in around 2.3 ish. Jets will be fine with that. This going low in arbitration isnt new. It's how teams operate.

Oh? Like who.. Who have we lost that we drafted and developed besides Trouba? Myers? Nope. Tanev? Nope. Chiarot? Atlanta took him. Lemieux? Nope he was part of the Myers trade.

Who have we lost besides Trouba? And honestly... This is how u build a sustainable winner.. Non core players move on. Copp isn't good enough to be a core player.

**** it. No members of your bottom 6 are core players.. Guys like Copp Perreault Tanev etc are guys you let go so you can keep your actual stars. The copps and tanevs are replaced by guys on ELCs. This is how the current NHL works.

These bottom 6 guys are not part of the core group.

If Copp wants to be here, he will be. If not, he will be replaced by a guy on his ELC in 2 years. And we move on.. Losing bottom 6 guys? Welcome to the new NHL where you are building around your stars, Jets have a few of them.

Ugh you're undeservedly smug some days...  nice straw man

I know exactly how arbitration works and Copp deserved a multi-year deal at the same pay as Lowry - as in he should not be going to arbitration

I also know that guys who go to arbitration are almost always goners

Copp asking for only 1 year :o

Starting to see where the locker room divide was... I'm sure Trouba was a problem but Maurice playing guys like Roslo and Copp 8 minutes a game - they're probably going nuts

Copp is asking for 1 year because he wants to get paid sooner then later.

The offer isn't an insult it's a typical offer.   He'll get 2.25 hopefully for 2 seasons.

How the **** did Pionk get 3 million a year?

Between Pionk and Kulikov, Jets are locked into some garbage D contracts this year...  wtf

Chevy just handed a garbage defence man who had a few good offensive games the same contract as Morrissey...

Morrissey-Pionk

Kulikov-Buff

Beaulieu-NIku

That is ugly.

For a dman, 6g a year is worth 3m/yr. It's the new normal.

For all intents and purposes, it's a bridge deal for Pionk. Not sure why anyone's upset about that.

Pionk was a young d-man carrying around the corpse of Staal at 23 years old.

It was akin to when Trouba was stapled to Mark Stuart.

Pionk will be fine when he's playing on an actual good team with a puck-moving partner.

2020 Norris Trophy winner - Neal Pionk.  Calling it now.

When they traded for him,  on 1290 they had some of the Rangers sports guys on and they said Pionk had a really good first half of last season and was more then capable of being a top 4 d-man.   As the season went on his play tanked and they weren't sure if it was fatigue or because of the team he was playing with.

Sounds like most of the Jets post Xmas.

As bad as the arena is, that stadium is a bag of dung and needs replacing.

You'd think 600m would get you an arena and stadium.

well this saga is over

Curious to know how many other players are going to arbitration this year.  Seems like the Jets are the ones always being subjected to this humiliation.

I wonder if they give Copp a shot this season to replace Little as the 2C?

40 players in total filed for arbitration, two of which are Jets.

Image result for I stand corrected

I also didn't phrase properly.  In 2018 40 of 44 arb cases were settled before they got to arbitration.  I wonder what the number will be this year?  I just remember the Jets being pretty pissed off last year when Trouba made them go the full length of the negotiations and still went to the arbitrator anyway.  Maybe I am mis-remembering.
