  • Would be tough since he is American

  • I'll still be watching. It was interesting to hear that Cale Makar received an invite to the Olympic roster but turned it down.

  • I'm pretty sure the Moose would beat that team with ease...    It'll be weird to watch that's for sure...

Yeah apparently he is tearing it up in the JHL - Jerusalem Hockey league.

I remember Canada's National Team. How we were supposed to host the World Hockey Championship in 1970 & then some rube from Hockey Canada in Ottawa had the great idea to pull our country out of it because we considered the Soviets professional hockey players & we couldn't send ours. The sad part is that Canada's team that year was actually very good & may have given the Soviets & Czechs a run for their money. We'll never know.

Telegin is long gone and based on his stats... looking like we missed on nothing with him...

Datsyuk and Kovalchuk on the top line may be unstoppable in this tournament

if this was 2002 I would agree with you.

our 1980 Olympic team was really good too, including featuring future stars Paul Maclean and Glen Anderson.  They should have beat the Soviets in that Olympics but folded in the 3rd period.  They sure softened up the Ruskies for the Americans though. :)

Datsyuk and Kovalchuk could both still be in the NHL if they wanted to.  Unlike every other player in this tournament.

There are guys on the Canadian team playing better than Datsyk and Kovalchuck in the KHL.

Datsyuk is like ten years older than everyone else in the tournament...

Surprised there were not more young prospects on Canada's team - I guess even guys drafted by NHL clubs are not allowed to play

That's pretty debatable.

Datsyk is not even in the top 30 in scoring in the KHL

He was in the top 10 before he got hurt.  And Kovalchuk is number one.

So yeah.

Hey are you knocking my best bud Gilbert Brule? :)

  • 2 weeks later...

man why am I not feeling the excitement this time around, I don't know if it has to do with that fact that I probably won't be able to watch it much because I'm working and thanks to the owners no NHL players are participating this time.....or maybe it's because the Russian bans got overturned

So yeah.

Is Nigel Dawes 2? I would tend to agree looking at other teams beer league rosters for this that Russia should be good but... They tend to choke recently

So much for Russian domination in hockey  at the Olympics!  And the US loses to Slovenia!  This could be a whacky Olympic hockey year.

When do the Olympics start again?

I think the lack of NHLers has greatly increased the parity and unpredictability of the tournament
