NHL Injury Watch 2017/18 season

and from looking at the other thread, I have learned that our team is quite injury prone

Guess I'll start with Armia being out for awhile.

As good as the Jets are right now, the idea of adding at the deadline is one thing but getting Trouba and Lowry back would essentially be the two best "additions" they could make this time of year.

Money well spent considering he was a big part of a solid D corp that helped get the team where it is now.  If he has a long term injury, they can move the money to LTIR moving forward and insurance k

2nd concussion since November in reality. Im sure he plays again but nice to have Hutch around for insurance

Yeah that wasn't out when I posted originally.  So that makes 3 concussions and this latest one is coming right on the heels of the last.  Not good.

By the nature of concussions, you can't compare other players recovery times or because X player has had more concussions then Mason, Mason should be fine.

There is still too much about concussions we don't know about to be able to compare them between players and situations.

Right.  And what I was trying to emphasize with Mason, is that a player can choose to walk away from the game due to concussions, even if he is medically cleared to play.  Many athletes are starting to make that decision.  Mason's comments after his November concussion lead me to believe that he is worried about the long-term effects and may be starting to weigh the cost/benefit of continuing to play pro hockey.  Surely suffering another concussion so soon after the initial one will only make him consider retirement even more.

maybe after his contract is up with us if he can still play the rest of his contract

I'd be surprised if Mason is back before the playoffs if at all this season...  that's pretty quick for the second concussion

I just hope we're still in playoff position by the time he returns

I was referring to if the concussions end up being too much for him

I will pretend that I have any clue or idea if and how Mason had  a concussion and how long his recovery is because I'm a pretend doctor.    I will say he returns on March 17th at approximately 3:00 am and he will be at 80% in the health department.

Yeah back to back concussions?  Yikes.  He can come back fully but it might take awhile.  And this is why the jets weren’t quick to trade Hutch.
