August 30, 20169 yr ...well, we'll find out tomorrow according to Fox Sports. The article also mentions Laine and Meyers as possibly being in the running for the C too - so take the source for what it is. http://www.foxsports.com/nhl/story/winnipeg-jets-naming-captain-tomorrow-083016
August 31, 20169 yr Gotta think it's Wheeler with all the suddenly news stories. Oh and it's his birthday. Feel good story
August 31, 20169 yr I had never heard of JetsWhiteout.com before yesterday. I'll have to start following it.
August 31, 20169 yr Do they generally want a D with an A or does it not matter? I'd say Wheeler, Scheif and little or Myers. But if the decision comes down to management and players deciding all bets are off.
August 31, 20169 yr Yeah weird that FOX/jetswhiteout got scoop over 1290. Someone squealed. Also Byfuglien not considered? Edited August 31, 20169 yr by FrostyWinnipeg
August 31, 20169 yr Buff doesn't want to deal with the media part of the job. Still a huge leader in the room.
August 31, 20169 yr Not to read to much in to this but Stripping Stuart of the A might signify an interesting change. Perhaps he is a pressbox option now. All great choices for sure. Wheeler, like Maurice said, EARNED IT. Buff and Scheif are great choices also as they are 2 guys who committed to winnipeg long term very recently.
August 31, 20169 yr Classy move to announce it on Wheeelers birthday. Small things like this is what makes the Jets organization top notch.

Leadership group is in good hands with these guys maybe Wheeler wants to be here long term, as for Stuart by taking the A away from him it probably signals less playing time, especially if Morrissey is ready to make the jump.
August 31, 20169 yr Yeah no reason Wheeler can't re-up again and be here another 6+ years as an aging veteran. Always thought Ladd would retire here. But hopefully Wheeler does.

Yeah feel bad for Stu but the A's are pretty useless anyway
