Week 9 Edm. @ Tor. - Sask. @ Hamilton

Interesting to read this week's picks by the writers @ 3downnation

Montreal @ Ottawa

Drew Edwards: Montreal in free fall. Hope this game doesn’t become a free-for-all. REDBLACKS
Justin Dunk: At this stage of their careers Burris > Glenn. Barely. REDBLACKS
John Hodge: In a battle of two struggling veteran QBs, I’ll take the team with the better receiving corps. REDBLACKS
Joel Gasson: Hard to believe in Montreal right now. REDBLACKS
Ian Busby: For an encore, Duron Carter will push over the LumberJoes. It still won’t help his team win. REDBLACKS
Josh Smith: Henry Burris is hearing footsteps, Duron Carter is going to go full Ric Flair and embrace being the hated heel, and Kevin Glenn is going to have a great Kevin Glenn game. ALS
Santino Filoso: Fresh off a bye and at playing at home, this one’s a no brainer REDBLACKS
Totals: REDBLACKS 6 ALS 1

Calgary  @ BC

Drew Edwards: They win this one and I’m all in on B.C. They will. LIONS
Justin Dunk: Calgary is at their best when challenged. STAMPS
John Hodge: Jonathon Jennings cements his status as the CFL’s newest elite quarterback. LIONS
Joel Gasson: Another game of the year candidate. Time for BC to show they’re for real. LIONS.
Ian Busby: Epic meeting between the top two teams in the West. Winner gets the hammer in the season series. Could be another classic. STAMPS
Josh Smith: Game of the week, for sure. The winner here will own the tiebreaker and have the upperhand in the race for first in the West. Should be close, but home team prevails. LIONS
Santino Filoso: Home field proves to be in the difference in a clash of the best of the West LIONS
Totals: LIONS 5 STAMPS 2

?‍?This second game should be the game of the week. It's for 1st place of course, and the series between the two teams.

?‍?Wally vs Dave and  Jennings vs Mitchell......Messam, Paredes vs. Rainey and the BC defence

Dan Ralph - Canadian Press
B.C. won the first meeting 20-18 in the season opener for both teams. Chris Rainey figured prominently in that game for the Lions with two TDs, including one on a 72-yard punt return.

Calgary outscored B.C. 22-7 in the fourth quarter July 29 en route to a thrilling 44-41 overtime victory at McMahon Stadium. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell completed 29-of-44 passes for 364 yards and three TDs.

?‍?Do you agree with the majority?

Bye the way - MBB picks have BC over Calgary 18-11......with 1 tie predicted!

what a crazy game this has turned into. Combined 7 passing tds, roughly 747 passing yards, 12 sacks, 3 fr, 1 pic and avg net punts of 29/33 yards.

Haven't followed the Duron Carter suspension story, any chance he serves his sentence next week?

The way the appeal is going he will probably serve his suspension at the end of the year.

Yep, 4 screens showing the Jays & not even one showing the CFL. Our server asked but whoever was in charge didn't tune it in.

Seems like this would be a good time to let Lulay give it a go.

Lulay got no go tonight.

Well, the writers were super wrong about the first two games in Week 9. Will they do any better in the next two?

Edmonton vs Toronto

Drew Edwards: There are, apparently, limits to Scott Milanovich’s quarterback voodoo. ESKIMOS
Justin Dunk: Kilgore killing the Argos. ESKIMOS
John Hodge: I’m not ready to buy into Edmonton’s “improving” defence, but they’re playing Logan Kilgore. ESKIMOS
Joel Gasson: Kilgore is not the next QB. ESKIMOS
Ian Busby: Oh where’ve you gone Ricky Ray, Argos nation turns its lonely eyes to you. Ooo ooo ooo. ESKIMOS
Josh Smith: If Ricky Ray were playing, I’d go Argos. He’s not, so I am not. Edmonton finds a way to get it done. ESKIMOS
Santino Filoso: No Ray = no win ESKIMOS
Totals: ESKIMOS 7 ARGOS 0

Saskatchewan vs Hamilton

Drew Edwards: Hamilton back home with Collaros, Riders on the road where they’re terrible. TICATS
Justin Dunk: Best part could be the Jones vs. Austin post-game throwdown. TICATS
John Hodge: The Riders will get destroyed in Hamilton — and not because of a league conspiracy. TICATS
Joel Gasson: Callaros makes Hamilton better. Riders struggle on the road, especially out east. TICATS
Ian Busby: Collaros and Ticats at home for first time in a while. This has horrible stomping written all over it. TICATS
Josh Smith: Zach Collaros worked the rust off last week in BC and started to look like his 2015 self in the second half. He continues the upward trajectory and the Ticats move to 4-4. TICATS
Santino Filoso: In keeping with the league conspiracy against Saskatchewan, Hamilton wins TICATS
Totals: TICATS 7 RIDERS 0

MBB voters have Edmonton 21-9 over the Argos and Hamilton 29 to 1 over Sask.

Boston Pizza use to be a big supporter of the CFL they seem to have put lately they're really hyping up the Jays.

i mean you can't really blame them, the Jays are absolutely huge right now. Gotta think they'd have a lot more customers there trying to watch the Jays game than B.C/ Calgary.

Manny Arceneaux had a brutal game last night, plenty of dropped balls.  I think he is much more effective as a secondary receiver rather than as a primary target.

A lot of fans disguised as seats last night in lotus land...you know the land where you have to start at a million to buy a dump....Maybe they're all broke making mortgage payments....didn't look good...and their team looked worse

BC last might looked as bad as many projected them to look. The receivers did not earn their money at all. Jennings did not look sharp but he was let down by guys who should be a lot better.

Has anyone else had trouble getting BP to show a CFL game?

never ask a server to change the channel, always go direct to the guy behind the bar and ask politely if he can change a TV over, only way it ever gets done, as the servers just don't care.

The CFL and CFLPA asked the arbitrator to release his decision next week because it was too late in the week.

On the plus side, BC is now only one game up on us.

You should have heard Glen Suitor being interviewed in Calgary Thursday night. He compared Jennings to Russell Wilson. Then there was the story about Jennings being an elite qb because he threw for 4 consecutive 300 yd game until last night which put him in the same company as former BC qbs Dickenson & Flutie. To me 300 yds is the new 250 in the CFL. It used to be that 300 yds passing was quite the accomplishment. Now qbs are doing that all the time. It's not that big a deal. Jennings has a ways to go yet until he's considered elite.

Another great crowd in Toronto. I wonder what the excuse is this week? Traffic, Blue jays, Tragically Hip, nobody cares??? Bingo.

People in Toronto don't care about the CFL and many still hold on to the pipe dream of a NFL franchise.
