  1. Maurices explanation if you're interested. Articulate and informative as usual... http://video.jets.nhl.com/videocenter/
  2. So if a fan isn't a hockey expert they aren't allowed rocks their opinion? Then why are you? Team didn't give up. That implies they were trying to begin with. They looked tired and lethargic. I wonder if their terrible back to back record messed with them. It seemed to mess with Pavs. That was a dumb coaching decision. At this point is start Huch next game too. Give Pavs a rest. First of all , you don't sound like a fan, at least not a knowledgeable one. You talk a lot of crap. "They looked tired and lethargic" perhaps if you payed attention to their schedule, you'd realize ANY team would have been tired and lethargic after that schedule. A 4:00 afternoon game on back to back? Well that's brilliant. BTW Number One goalies play back-to-back games, it's expected of them and they need to get used to doing it. Saying it's a stupid coaching decision clearly shows you haven't a clue, just an uninformed opinion. You should stick to posting BS trade rumours, seems closer to your level of expertise.
  3. Not at all. Team was awful. Stupid coaching decision to go with Pavs in back to back. I'm nkt even saying it was his fault but that first goal he was out of position. And he looked rattled after the wheeler deflection. Guys like Kane took control of this game. No points for Maurice on this one. Do you actually watch any games? First goal could have beat anyone. Last 2 would have beat everyone. But you're right, Maurice has done nothing to elevate this teams compete level from last year.
  4. Yeah pretty flat in the first 2, some bad bounces, but they had some chances. They didn't quit, and that's the important part for me.
  5. I'm so impressed with the never quit attitude of this team. Awesome effort. Kudos again to Maurice for getting these guys in the right frame of mind.
  6. I think this is totally true. Sellouts every game no prob, casinos would eat up most of the tickets but are they a hockey town? Who knows. LV does not have a pro team so being 1st has its advantages but what about Seattle? The NHL should have jumped in there soon as the NBA's SS left for OKC. Quebec City is a give, new arena opening with 2 years and a decent size at that. I hate the separatist owners but if it means QC gets its Nordiques back I'll live with it. Houston anyone? 3rd/4th largest city in US and no NHL? I don't think Houston, all they talk about is football, college football in particular. You see more Longhorn jerseys than anything else.
  7. I have little doubt Kane never asked for a trade. FIFY. He's not going anywhere. Talks with Chevy this last summer, all Kane wanted was a consistent line. Not change the pairings every 5 minutes if it wasn't working. He's got that. If you can't see a major attitude change in Kanes play, you're not paying attention.
  8. I do not like the shootout myself, I think it benefits the more talented teams. Same as for the overtime. Back in my day...a regular season game ended in a tie. That was it. Yeah, I remember, a point each, yes? Seems like a reason to play for a tie in a close game. I like what used to be called sudden death overtime, I guess the problem with that is, games can go on for hours. As I fan I liked it, but I'm sure owners and players would hate it, and there's probably something in the CBA addressing that. OT as played in the SC playoffs probably wouldn't fly in regular season games, too hard on players. Apparently they're looking at going to a 2nd overtime with 3 on 3 like they're doing in the SPHL, not sure I like that either, but it might be exciting to watch. Anyway, I hope they address it, Not sure I like getting a point for a loss, despite how it's helping the Jets. The shootout seems to favour the teams with super-stars (ie: Pittsburgh game) and maybe not so much the harder wotking team. I don't have an answer, but rule/format changes might be interesting this off-season.
  9. For better or worse there have been homers at every level, maybe not so much in their commentary, but evident in their excitement for the team they are fans of. I agree with your point, but I'm sure it's not as easy as it might sound. If they're balanced in their analysis and coverage, I don't much care who they pull for.
  10. Lots of controversy this year over the shootout deciding games. From the 3 on 3 experiment in the AHL to speculation of teams playing for the shootout/OT in close games, given the point structure. Back in the day, you played until someone scored. Hard on players maybe, but great for fans. So do like the shootout? Or not? What would you change? Any thoughts?
  11. Good win by the team, despite the obvious fatigue in the second. I didn't really notice any bias, because they didn't actually seem to be talking about the game at all. I started tuning them out after a while cause all I was hearing was unrelated anecdotes that had nothing to do with what was happening on the ice. Professional idiots. TSN not so bad, Beyak is a homer for sure, (I don't actually mind that) and Hnidy knows the game. Been listening to TSN radio quite a bit and a lot of pundits are coming around to the team, they still think Pavs is going to regress, but acknowledge the work of Maurice on systems and the team buying in. If they continue to play like they have been, no way we even get close to a sniff of McDavid or Eichel. Hopefully, that's a good thing.
  12. I grew up listening to Gallivan and Irvin, who were among the best ever. Listening to those Sportsnet tools was like putting Dumb and Dumber on a marathon. HNIC is dead. RIP.
  13. Thanks for all your work keeping this the best fan-site online. All y'all.
  14. At the Jets store: So number 17 on the back? Yup Name, Lowry right? Nope, Fly Emirates.
  15. One thing I couldn't help but notice was how abysmal the play-calling and commentary were. If they actually spent 15 minutes of the entire game calling the play, I'd be surprised. Instead it was a constant barrage for irrelevant anecdotes, decades old player stats and stupid stories. You're paid to call the game. Call the game. They honestly couldn't have been any worse if Rod Black was in the booth. If they want spout off their vast stores of irrelevant non-game related crap. Wait for a friggin whistle. I dread the next broadcast from Sportsnet.
  16. Probably the most intelligent, open, honest coach I've ever had the privledge to listen to in an interview. Mike O'Shea could learn something from watching an after game interview by Paul Maurice. My drunken ranting after the Pens game leaves me feeling very embarrased. He's forgotten more about hockey than I'll ever learn. He's soley responsible for turning this team into a confident group of determined professionals, playing their best hockey since the glory days of the WHL. Maybe a bit over the top, but that's how I'm feeeling about the progression of this team right now. In the future, regardless of outcomes, I'll keep my stupid mouth shut about Paul Maurice, unless it's to say thank you for restoring my faith in my favourite team in all sports. So, that's my mea culpa for being an idiot. Too many beverages, too much passion, and not enough thought. My apologies to coach and all you great sports fans here. GO JETS!!!
  17. He would definetly have been on my shootout selections. And Shief.
  18. Beverages and high emotion. I was really pissed off after such a great performance by the team to lose in that fashion. Refs sucked too. We really deserved to win that one. And I still wouldn't have put Ladd on the SO or put that group out in the OT period. I don't know what's wrong with Ladd, seems to not be on his game lately, And although I like Kane he isn't the most accurate shooter on the team, beauty goal on that magnificent feed by Wheels though. Great game crappy ending. Call me what you want for caring,
  19. Ladd really? In a shootout? He only ever scores garbage goals, and he's been ineffective all year.Might as well have put Thorbs out there. Kane? I guess I can see why. If Fleury was in a soccer net. So nice call Paul. 5 forwards in the OT? No Buff? Lets not put the big man in to jam the net. WTF? This is on you Maurice. We deserved to win. I am so disapoint.
  20. care to give a recap of what makes you feel that way? I didn't catch it.Well I recommend trying to listen to it. But from what I recall, he talked about how much the inability to stop the run hurt us this season. He provided stats on that too...seems like he's clearly done his homework/analysis. He suggested O'Shea knows the run D is a problem but that O'Shea protects the coaches during the season; that was part of his plan going into the season. Said figuring out the coaching staff is his and O'Shea's first priority now; to me that says there's uncertainty there. Yeah. much better interview. Coaching aside from MOS going to be further evaluated. Said MOS is here unequivocally. Also seemed to have Mike's back on the single message from one guy theory. Said he didn't care about that stuff and it would be the coaches decision if coordinators talk to media or not. Lawless piped up and said yeah but sometimes we want to know why certain calls are made by coaches, Walters said, "So do I". I lol'd.
  21. If he plays average I think you're right, but the team has to play better than average in front of him, like they've been doing in the last little stretch. Allows him to play better positionally in the net and not have to scramble to make the big saves.
  22. I disagree about Lowry...I thought he was very steady as usual. I thought Bogo was not as good as the other night, he had some giveaways. Although Ladd had a good goal, I still can't get over the fact that virtually every game, he makes a bone headed pass by not looking what he is doing. Too bad Pavs let in a weak one...otherwise three shutouts in a row. I thought Lowry was good too and think he's going to develop into a top power center. Bogo has not lived up to expectations and Kane couldn't hit a soccer net, Ladd making too many bone-headed mistakes in our end. Other than that, Jets playing much better than I expected.
  23. You shouldn't have started the BS to begin with. Called to the scene? Why? Are they EMS, Cops? Your credibility has just peaked somewhere between zero and nil.
