  1. Don't see a trade happening, roster freeze is tomorrow, so Jets are gonna have to go with what they got right now. Little xmas break coming up, not much of one but still... all star break soon after, has to be, Jets might get lucky and have enstrom back in a couple weeks. Until then tho, It is what it is, totally sucks but.... what can you do. Either go with what you got or call a guy up from St Johns. Don't see trades happening, teams don't want to help out other teams.
  2. or how many of them are playing the media and fans who are too quick to always jump the gun.
  3. The #Bombers have extended the contract of QB Josh Portis! Details: http://www.bluebombers.com/article/bombers-extend-contract-of-qb-josh-portis Tells me that Brohm may be moving on.
  4. I'd suspect we'd just call another guy from the ice caps up. Don't see them making a trade by tomorrow.
  5. Stats don't tell the whole story obviously but an interesting one is that we were 9th in the league, dead last in terms of points against. On O we averaged about 22.05 points for per game, on D we average about 26.7 points against per game. There were 4 teams who scored 400 or more points for, Calgary, Edmonton,Toronto and Hamilton <-- in that order too of points scored per game The rest goes SASK WPG BC MTL OTT Sask had 399 points scored, Wpg 397 points scored. Our O was kind of middle of the pack really, Our D tho was dead last.
  6. I went with Claybrooks, heir apparent to stubler, a year under stubler, Calgarys D was very good and i wonder because BC has had such a strong D for a long time, if it's more the players than the coaches, BC was very good this year and Washington was the DC. I dunno, i'd rather give it to an up and coming young mind than going for a guy who was just fired. In related news tho, bombers were granted permission to speak to Hall by sask.
  7. So etch gets canned but MB not being canned is the popular topic. Bombers dammed when they do and don't.
  8. Oilers out shot 26-6 last night in the second period. Coach gone players still have no heart or compete level. YUP its the day the coach got fired but most teams wouldn't respond like that. Oilers players are a big part of the problem regardless what some think. Management and above is the biggest tho.
  9. Burmi is playing in a tournament in Sochi. Turns out the twitter source joe blow sports is as credible as Eklund
  10. Claybrooks because new blood is needed.
  11. There will be some changes, Not sure exactly what. Perhaps they go after an oline or 2 if guys make it to free agency, I'd suspect if a couple of the guys make it, they will offer them a pretty good deal, will those oline take it? hard to say actually. Takes 2 to make things happen. Bombers could go after both Holmes and Heenan and both might sign elsewhere. Who can honestly say. Will they even still be available come Feb. Change 50 percent of the roster? That seems way too high, you just can't do that i don't think, 50 percent of your roster is half your americans and half your canadians or all your canadians and none of your americans or all your americans and none of your canadians. That seems like crazy talk. I think 25 percent is about average in what i'd expect them to change over from this past season. Maybe 10 or so guys different from this past season. Think that's more realistic.
  12. unless ofcourse he wrote that blog yesterday and it was just posted today.
  13. If you believe some of the radio reports out there coming from Edmonton, really who knows as we are not in the room so we are all just guessing but a few of the players do seem to be the problem, taylor hall being one. Apparently he is being shopped, attitude issues, not really willing to buy in to systems and the sorts, sulking around lots.. Ferrence a few weeks back called out some players for sulking lots, he was talking about a few of the younger guys I'm sure. Just watching the Oilers, i see a team who doesn't really try their hardest every night, that's not just one or 2 players tho, that's a ton of them, most the roster really. The culture of losing and it seemingly being acceptable is a problem for the Oilers. Significant changes from the top on down need to happen to this team.
  14. Like this signing lots, very under appreciated foot soldier and didn't look out of place when he had to step in and play on D also. Regardless of what some think, we have been getting lots of bomber news this off-season so far, lots of signings, lots of interesting little blog pieces done by darren cameron, those who don't think things are being done just need to look a bit harder and you will see that quite a bit is happening this off-season so far. Yup no coaching announcements but lots of other news for sure.
  15. Oh i watch the oilers, they were my fav team prior to the Jets coming back, I watch them and follow them quite often, when i can. They aren't good and there problems are far more deep than just who the coach is. Believe what you like, but it's pretty obvious it's the players on the ice. They can't score? guess that's the coaches fault.
  16. It's a mercy firing, Oilers aren't good, they have drafted poorly outside of top 10 picks and even one of those top picks seems to be a bust of sorts who doesn't want too or can't play a defensive game (yakupov) All i have to really say is how many coaches are the oilers going to have to fire to make people realize it's not the coaches, it's the players and it's even above the players, it's the management, it's lowe, it's macT, it's the old boys club running things in to the ground. Another coach gets fired by Edmonton, unless they make some moves with the team on the ice, another one will be fired again and the cycle will repeat itself until they actually do something about the team that actually goes out there to play. Scrivens? Fasth, good goalies when they have talent in front of them willing to play the way you need too in the NHL to win games, people talk about the kings and other teams, well the biggest difference between those teams and the Oilers, outside of a whole lot of stuff, the biggest difference, the kings have a team that actually is willing to play D and not coast all night long. The oilers biggest problem is they are too small, too soft, they have neglected their D and their goaltending and they are run by guys who really have no clue what they are doing. How can you have that many top 5 picks and still be awful, it's not the coach that's for sure. It's above the coach. Order or Incompetence in Edmonton probably goes 1. owner 2. Lowe 3. MacT 4. Players. 5. Coach. Another coach bites the dust and the roster stays the same.
  17. Big Loss. Huge really when you consider we are already missing our top 2 d men, now we are missing our top 3 d men. Guess maybe Buff Benny and Postma Stuart sees lots of ice time now, i'd imagine Clitsome and Pardy won't see much action, Buff will play 30 minutes i'd imagine. Big test tonight, Buffalo not a pushover, like mentioned 10-3 in their last 13 games, on a roll, getting very strong goaltending from both enroth and neuvirth.
  18. say what you will about Kuale the football player but that dude is built like a brick shithouse. The guy is jacked.
  19. Minnesota and us are very similar, we both have the great unknown in net. Minny ain't that great overall. They are like the Jets exactly, couple good lines, couple good d men when everyone is healthy, couple youngsters helping out but very unknown goaltending. LA? i don't know whats going on there actually. They should be better but maybe the rest of the league has caught up to them now.
  20. Wild would be a big loss. Sears? I don't know, i like him but his injury issues are a concern for sure.. plus thought don unumba looked pretty good at the LB spot when he got his chance to play too, actually reminded me a bit of a younger possibly less injury prone sears.
  21. Take away that second goal which shouldn't have counted due to goalie interference and hutch made 28 of 30 saves, even with that goal he made 27 of 30 saves and several on what most would consider to be high quality scoring chances, one timers etc, had to go side to side to make several big saves. Hutch had a brain fart on the third goal but outside of that one, he played quite well. Anaheim is the best team in the league for a reason, they don't give teams much, Jets played them pretty strongly actually. Got in to some penalty trouble and got bit a few times playing the 4th line a little too much, they cost us a goal for sure, peluso in particular, had a chance to clear the zone, passed the puck back to noone, ducks grabbed it, peluso got called for holding, PP ducks, score!! 4th line really sucked lots, the rest of the team seemed fine, not their best effort but not their worst, look at it this way really, Jets are good but they aren't Anaheim and i don't think anyone expected them to be anything similar to Anaheim yet, in reality, they aren't that far behind the best team in the league points wise and have played 2 pretty good games vs them in the last week. Also first game back after a road trip, home teams generally come out flat after a road trip first game back, Jets did in the first. Picked it up throughout the game and if halischucks off the post crossbar and post shot would have gone in, it's a 1 goal game, that 2nd goal is actually called for the blatant goalie interference and jets and ducks are actually tied 2-2. Kane was invisible tho and played poorly in his first game back, no shots and a -2 for mr money phone <--- not good. Maybe expected tho. Also gotta keep in mind, Jets are actually doing all this without their top d pair, Toby and Bogo are hurt and they are the teams #1 d pair. I will say this, i do think if that was PAV in net who let in that weak one, people would be ripping him a new one left right and center, hell the guy didn't even play and one or 2 folks here brought him up, in a game he didn't play. In a way i think what some comments tell you is some people have played a sport, others haven't cuz it's never just one guys fault when you win or lose, it's a team game. People need to start to realize that. It scares me when thorburn peluso and slater are on the ice together, Thorburn, not as terrible as some make him out to be is probably the best player on that line, Slater is done, he is so far gone from 2011 slater it's crazy and peluso, well, i dunno what to say about him, good fighter but that's about it. Adam Pardy is another guy who i thought looked awful, Chiarot had another strong game and is making a case to stick around on at least the bottom pairing d with postma when everyone is healthy.
  22. nope. thought i heard some rumors that he might be trying to get a look in the NFL, probably too small but might get a chance as a special teams player. Not really too worried right now about WILD or Sears or Washington, some of them are probably hoping to get an NFL shot and exhaust those options before coming back here, maybe a couple of them don't want to come back even. Who knows really. I do have a feeling tho with WILD that he's looking to try the NFL and if that doesn't pan out, he will be back here.
  23. Sisco might not be the number 1 priority but... he's a canadian player with some experience who might just need a change of scenery to help out his career, maybe the pressure of playing in sask was too much for him, who knows. But i wouldn't hate it if he signed here, worst case he's TCF, best case, he steps up, shows why he was a higher draft pick and realizes that potential here.
  24. These comments don't really surprise me, I find them to be a bit sad tho, i mean, it's pretty obvious banks wasn't good enough anymore, he was asked to play a backup role and decided to go home. It's too bad he comes across as so bitter but i guess if my career ended the same way his did, i might be a bit bitter myself. However, the difference there i think would be, maybe i'd go home and reflect a bit more and realize that maybe just maybe the reason i wasn't starting anymore was because i wasn't as good as i used to be. Must be tough for these guys who are told their entire lives how good and great they are to come to the realization that the game has passed them by. As for the ETCH comments, whatever really. Aren't these the type of comments one would expect from a guy who was basically told he's not good enough anymore to start? Wally thought he wasn't good enough anymore, ETCH or whoever on the bombers thought the same.
  25. Thought it might be one but on replay, you can see KANE was kind of head hunting a bit there, kane got rocked pretty cleanly earlier in that shift and looked pretty pissed about it, saw a guy with his back turned, numbers right there, nailed him. That's suspension worthy. Does seem to be some odd "sentences" handed out tho, not very consistent from quintal or whoever is in charge, but.. it definitely was suspension worthy. As for the other stuff KANE does, he does come across as an attention seeking look at me kind of person. Is that a bad thing? who am i to say, i personally don't care what he does off the ice as long as it doesn't become a distraction to the team, i think he does however need to mature, and i think not being in the room and just being a fan, i'd rather Kanes attention seeking be scoring a goal or well, i'd rather that attention he seeks be from his on ice play, not his off ice stuff.
