Game 58 : Airport 77 @ Panthers
Goalie replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Meh, Perreault made one 2 many moves, that's an easy poke choke and as a former goalie myself, was told by my goalie coach to do the same thing. Lou is also one of the best goalies in the league but the Jets didn't really have as many grade A chances as the Panthers did. Hutch was fine and was not the reason the team lost, as a matter of fact, I'd go as far to say Hutch was the only reason they didn't lose by more cuz the Panthers absolutely dominated the Jets in the third period. -
Gonna say it, USA expansion would be fine with me IF the rules were the same but with labor laws down there being different and the value of the canadian dollar, it's just a bad idea. It's a pie in the sky idea really from a group of fans from a city who just lost their team.

Game 59 : Stars @ The Tanker ... Airport 79
Goalie replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Maybe the thought was, they could sign guys like Stemp,Tlusty, etc, some veteran players and maybe make the playoffs only to lose in the fist round again or just miss out and get another pick in that 10-14 range or they could give a couple rookies a chance (armia, ehlers, copp) and see what happens. Personally, I'd be a lot more worried if they signed the vets and the team missed the playoffs again, which would be likely, cuz like it or not, those vets don't make this team go from bottom 3 to a playoff team... I guess, Look at florida, that's the Jets model really... Lots of draft picks playing for that team, but they had to bottom out first and get a 2nd overall pick in Barkov who wasn't even playing last night and a 1st overall pick in Ekblad to really put them over the top. -
No thanks. Don't see how this could work and the CFL pretty much shot the idea down anyway.

Sometimes, things just don't go the way you want them too, I'm sure they never expected them to be this bad, and reality is, they haven't been as bad as it appears, They are a very good team when it's 5 on 5, their 5 on 5 possession numbers are very good... What's really killed the Jets this year is their special teams.. the PP is awful, the PK was awful for a very long time, when you were losing games by 1 or 2 goals and giving up 1 or 2 PP goals against per game, that's the difference. Fix the PP and PK for next season and this team improves significantly. It really has been the difference between wins and losses in lots of games this year. Not saying it's an easy fix but... you can start by firing the PP and PK coach. -

Hutch played very good, Florida had way better chances to score. Hutch was solid. Really no chance on any of the goals. -
Cap is gonna go down quite a bit. Not sure 30 year Olds will get big money big term deals

I don't see why trading depth pieces who aren't going to get better or who aren't really doing anything right now hurts us. If teams want Thor stafford Burmi... why not trade them. They aren't part of the future really. 9 or 10 guys still on this team from the 2011 roster. Change needs to happen. You can't just come back every season with the same exact roster and get better. We are bottom 4 in the league. The team isn't good enough. That's the bottom line

Wheeler Buff Little. Trouba Scheifs Ehlers Armia are the only real untouchables on the roster right now. The rest are pretty easily replaced in my opinion. Lol. Intangibles. Cmon. What does that mean even.

I don't think efforts really been the biggest problem. I think discipline is huge tho. They take 2 many penalties, that's what's really hurt them big time, The PK and PP are pretty much the difference in most games. You lose a game 4-3 let's say, other team goes 2 for 5 on the PP, we go 0 for 5.. that's the difference. The team is pretty good 5 on 5... they actually are really good 5 on 5, they just take 2 many penalties and up until recently, since basically stuuu has been hurt, the PK really did suck big time and other teams pretty much scored a PP goal or 2 against us every game. How can Copp put up more O playing with a guy like Thorburn who has no goals in his last 25 games or something, maybe 35... beyak mentioned it the other night, thorburn scored 5 goals in his first 25 or 35 games and none since. Put Copp with some players who actually can produce and he will also. -
Yeah but 7 games out of how many really, He's a good player, just don't think he's worth 6 million long term. 4 5 years sure but more than that? probably not.
-
I really don't think Florida is a real option. Chicago or Anaheim are my guess. Unless some team just blows Chevy away with an offer, I see Chicago as being most likely, Anaheim or LA for that matter being next likely. Then again, Maybe they sign him to a new deal soon.

I really don't see any issues with this schedule at all. I have a cabin but don't go out there every week-end. I don't have season tix anymore either, just priorities change when you have a kid lol. I guess the only complaint i'd have would be about the Wednesday game. That's odd for sure. Very odd. and I don't mean the pre-season one either. Just that ones strange to me.

Uniform changes with Adidas may not be dramatic

Yup was gonna add, the only way putting your name on a jersey isn't a fail, I guess is if you have the same last name as a player. -
Just gonna add, since the topic is originally about STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU The PK sure looks much better without him doesn't it?

I have to agree that putting your own name on the back of a football or hockey jersey is a huge fail. Not sure why i feel that way but... i just do. Maybe it's because I don't play for the Jets or Bombers lol. -
They might but... i think they trade him. I think it's more likely he is traded but then signs back here in the off-season. I don't see Tampa being likely at all. What would they offer exactly? Drouin? for a rental? I don't think so.

Copp is a rookie. Peluso is not. Peluso is only there to beat people up. That's really what his role is. Copp is a good face off guy, he's a guy that can play the PK... he's better than Peluso by a long shot. Peluso and for that matter,Burmistrov shouldn't even be in the NHL... You put Copp on waivers, even though he doesn't qualify for waivers but you put him on waivers and he gets picked up... Peluso, Burmi, they don't. That's just reality. -
Morrissey might get a few games but it won't be until after the trade deadline, probably in March sometime. Not until the Jets are actually eliminated since they aren't actually tanking. Postma Chiarot or Pardy Chiarot for now for sure.
-
Ducks won't move Theodore. It just won't happen. Larrson and their 1st is more likely. I still think Chicago is where Ladd will end up.

We be tankin' it (official tanking thread) ...
Goalie replied to IC Khari's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Stempniak has to be the most over rated Jet in the history of Jets 2.0. I don't even think it's close. The guy would not be playing top 6 minutes here... You know what Stemp on the Jets probably means? It probably means No armia cuz i'm pretty sure Stempniak is a RW. Stempniak is closer to the end of his career than the begining. There is a reason he's on his 8th team now, theres a reason he had to sign a PTO with NJ. NOBODY WANTED HIM. Yeah he's had a good year with an over achieving NJ Devils team but the guy makes no difference to the JETS. -
Thought Pardy was ok the last game he played, as good as Postma was last game. Didn't get much ice time. Hard to say, maybe a team is interested in Pardy? I don't know, maybe the Jets themselves want to see what they got in Postma?
-
Morrissey is already better than Chiarot btw. I'd trade Chiarot in a second. There is some thought that Pittsburgh actually has interest in Thorburn.

Subban at 9 million a year? No thanks. He's not as good as people make him out to be and for 9 Million a year, no thanks.
