CFL - 2023 Regular Season - Discussion Thread

Fox is goode, depth at DT solved once Lawson returns, even Schmeckle contributed good push in collapsing pockets against the Riders. One good DE away from D-line returning to ferocious with or without Jeffcoat in the lineup, widespread panic abated, all hale Walters, he did it again. -
He's not as manly as Bea Arthur either.

Just trying to sneak one past you, I guess Teague will have to wait a bit longer.

Schoen is proving last season was no fluke, using mental strength and motivation he outworks every other receiver and DB on the field, and certainly deserves to be among the top paid receivers in the league. Walters has 6 months to contemplate the can of worms he cracked open by paying Lawler money that should really be going into Schoen's pocket. His easy out is if Schoen catches on with the NFL in the off-season. -
Teague Sherman is also ready to go when the opportunity presents.

Cornelius looks to have regressed, it seemed like he was beginning to figure out the game by the end of last season, but not much evidence of that now. Not sure the main reason but it can't help not having any experienced CFL QB in the room to add guidance even during his rookie season. Only Jones would throw 3 rookie QB's together in a room to figure out how to prepare and play the game, it's almost like expecting a bunch of 5 year olds to step up and run a daycare. I don't think Jones has any understanding of the offensive side of the ball and just leaves it up to McAdoo, who doesn't seem to know anything about QB's either, so he hired his buddy Jarious Jackson to babysit them. -

Seth Small is good young FG kicker, but he's an Import and he doesn't handle punting. -

See Jake move out to DE for the Bombers final D snap of the game? He tore off after Harris like he was Willie J! MBB is being punked. -

This game was a bit of a throwback to the days Richie Hall's D regularly gave up 300-400 passing yds. almost every game, the old bend, bend, and bend some more days. -

Sheahan dropped a punt on the 3 yd. line, corner pocket, hiss boom bah to the numbskull that spoiled it by taking a 15 yd. no yds. penalty on the coverage. -

It's not even a new problem, they were thin at DE most of last season especially after they traded away Wilcots. They had the entire off-season to contemplate Willy's advancing age, Jeffcoat's future health concerns, consider available free-agents, and recruit future replacements. They ignored available free agents, lost Sayles and brought a few DE's into TC but decided to purge all, other than their #1 draft pick. Money couldn't have been the concern as they decided to go deep and spend $260,000 on Lawler in the off-season.

The Schooners have been in concept since 1984, so I wouldn't say anything has been rushed. If there's no money or enthusiasm to proceed, time to seek a better location. Temporary solution I know, but TSN carries up to date stats. https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/statistics -
Sometimes the pieces don't arrive in the right order, Fox may be the DT they were looking for to replace Sayles with in the off-season. Pretty obvious O'Shea thinks he's a better prospect than Caleb Thomas, we shall see.

It could be Sterling refused a PR spot and would rather focus on one of the new leagues down south, a GF or family, no way to know.
-
I agree, I don't understand the roster management either, just trying to interpret what they're actually doing, not condoning it.
-
Apparently that comes at a cost Walters is not willing to pay, they must think Haba and Bennett are the solution.
-
I think once Lawson returns the D-line will rebalance itself, current injuries are causing a temporary shuffling of the deck.

This is so crazy, bigots of all stripes are coming out of the woodwork to freely express their vile attitudes in public, feeling so empowered to do so, they go hunting for victims. 9-year-old's gender questioned in 'gobsmacking' track-and-field incident, family says A B.C. family has garnered sympathy online — and international media attention — after sharing what they described as an incident in which a man questioned their nine-year-old daughter's gender during a sporting event. They say the incident occurred during a track-and-field meet at the Apple Bowl Stadium in Kelowna, B.C., organized by the Central Okanagan School District for elementary school students. Heidi Starr said her daughter, who is cisgender and has a pixie cut, was preparing for a shot put contest when a man approached a parent volunteer, pointed to the nine-year-old and, mistaking her for a boy, questioned why a boy was participating in a girls' event. CBC News has agreed to keep the girl's identity confidential to protect her safety and well-being. "As my daughter was preparing to get up and throw, a man came out of the crowd, stepped forward and walked towards a parent volunteer and said, 'This is a girls' event — why are boys throwing?'" Starr told CBC News. Starr said she then intervened and corrected the man, whose granddaughter was also participating in the event. "Then the gentleman started insisting that I provide documentation in the form of a certificate proving that my daughter was born a girl," Starr said. Starr added that the man's wife was also shouting at Starr and Starr's ex-wife, saying they were "genital mutilators and groomers." "It was gobsmacking," Starr said. "I said … 'Are you asking for a certificate proving that my daughter was born with a ****** [and] you need a proof of her genitals?'" https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/kelowna-short-hair-girl-gender-identity-1.6875738 This is what a real man capable of verbally assaulting a 9 year old girl looks like, he's built to handle whatever she can throw back at him. This **** owns the Motel 6 in Moosomin, next time I pass through, I'm tempted to rent a room and drop a giant deuce under the blankies, just for him.

My LG Smart TV lasted less than 4 years before the screen went black, moved back to a monitor of the same dimensions hooked up to a PC for gaming and TV viewing and couldn't be happier. I found the Smart TV concept to be very simplistic, more controlling, both pushing and monitoring certain platforms, products and advertising, plus it was full of useless features that were never used, I think a better name would be "Idiot TV". With a PC you have full control of the function and the viewing content, I honestly can't see any disadvantages especially with streaming becoming so prevalent.

If O'Shea puts Jake in at DE, we'll know he's been reading MBB.
