It might be that Wylie doesn't like his work ethic or that Jones doesn't learn very well but sure looks like it's Wylie making this decision. Somebody should show Wylie game film from last season maybe that would help to convince him that Jones can play.

My guess is that Sherman returns to his role as a backup and Sears goes back to his previous position.

I keep returning to the thought that the Bombers always end up with RB's that need clean holes and open space to be effective. They never seem to bring in bigger backs that can get 4 or 5 yards on their own power like Curtis Steele with the Argos or Allen in Sask.. Having two backs with different skill sets could serve them well in these kind of games rather than having a bunch of RB clones. They may have missed an opportunity to acquire Allen from Sask. perhaps a trade could have been worked out for Ford.

I understand the need to upgrade the Bomber talent level but I prefer continuity and running with vets because you know more or less what you've got. Because of this I wasn't that thrilled about getting rid of Will Ford especially when he was not given any game action this year and I won't be happy if they cut loose Woods either without a superior replacement. Continually "plugging in" new players trying to improve in positions that are not really problem areas gets old quick when the results long-term are not as good as the solution the original player provided. Plus I would have to think that this player movement eventually wears on team chemistry as no player can be immune to the "who's next mentality". At some point you have to expect to run with the horses you have, funny but they used to use a phrase "making the team" which does not seem to apply anymore.

Woods is not injured. He's just being stashed. Proof or speculation?

Found the following quote a bit disturbing. This was game 4 how could the Bombers not know Reilly had "hulked" up. O'Shea said his team was caught off guard by the different physical specimen Reilly is this season as compared to last. "One of the things (the Eskimos) talked about was him coming back this year significantly stronger and heavier," said O'Shea. "So yeah, we underestimated him. When we look at the film we'll be disappointed we didn't squeeze a little tighter and bring him down. Because we had our chances -- he ended up getting several long runs off our missed tackles. And that's not like our defence."
-
I remember O'Shea praising Unamba during TC, saying he was very versatile and could play anywhere in the backfield. Forgot how good Markett was on Special Teams, that might put him ahead of Suber in O'Shea's book and if nothing else he's younger and cheaper.

I think the Bombers need to worry about Harris and Logan, that tandem is going to pose a big challenge for the LB's I noticed when Black is teamed with Suitor he "chatters" far less. I guess this has something to do with Suitor filling more airspace than Duane Forde. So I think it's fare to blame Forde for Black's verbal diarrhea. As for Lapo. on the panel I can't wait for Schultzie to return.

I thought the defence looked pretty good last week again Sask. Led by their linebackingr core they were giving Durante fits.

Bonus Do or Die Detailed Half Time Report
Fatty Liver replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
You're looking for the next Milt? So is every other team. Now if you are referring to Dave "sticky" Stala, well he may be available. -
That is an aspect of the coverage that is really noticeable after watching the World Cup. Nice wide camera shots so you can see the entire play develop, I think CBC used those shots a lot more in their football coverage back in the day. TSN really likes to focus on closeups of players sitting on the bench after a big play sweating or spitting or just staring blankly into space.

Looks like Lawless has gotten into his nasty pills again. Here is his article in today's FreeP. I suspect he wrote it months ago and was waiting for the opportunity to dump it on us. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/o-line-a-disaster-area-267614001.html

Bonus Do or Die Detailed Half Time Report
Fatty Liver replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Apparently Bob Wylie was nowhere to be seen last night. Can someone who attended the game please confirm this? When we got to the game I swear I saw him in the south end zone during warm ups wearing the same white shirt he always does coaching the o line guys. Unless we have another 300+ lb man as a coach? I didn't see him during the game however. I guess he could have been up in the spotters box. Is there elevator access? -

Turner was penalized for an equally ridiculous roughing the passer call.
-
The entire defence including that guy that lives on the island should be penalized for "tackling with no arms". Correction that should read "attempted tackling with no arms".

It was a hard fall back to Earth for Bomber fans but I'll be happy if they make the playoffs.
-
I want to see Woods, Leggett, Jarvis Jones, Kelly, Will Ford and Odell Willis back in the Bomber lineup next week.
-
Yeesh - sounds like Bobby is getting suicidal...if anyone sees him at IGF make sure and give him a hug... Never thought I'd see the day, Bob's actually giving "shout outs" to different groups tonight.

Arland Bruce sues CFL over concussions
Fatty Liver replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I can't see the CFLPA getting behind this lawsuit if they have any sense of self preservation. They are a "me first" organization that has shown little concern for past or or future members. As this lawsuit could theoretically bankrupt the CFL they would be foolish to jeopardize the careers of their current members for the sake of a few "walking wounded". Could well be that Arland has already tried this route. It would be way cheaper for the CFL to squelch this before it gets a head of steam, settle out of court with Bruce and place a restrictive gag order on his settlement. Every under-employed ex-CFL player on Earth will be lining up to feed at the trough if they don't handle this quickly. -

Here is a clip of Mark Cohon on TSN basically standing firm on current CFL policy regarding player health and stating that adequate concussion procedures and deterrents are already in place. Zach Collaros may disagree. http://www.tsn.ca/VideoHub/Default.aspx?collection=109&show=400849§ion=Sports -
Arland Bruce sues CFL over concussions
Fatty Liver replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Good points. In the "good old days" teams and trainers would have pushed players back onto the field or the ice with a sniff of smelling salts asap after having their "bell rung" but this was before they fully understood the repercussions of concussions in sport. If the athlete can prove that he was forced into action by the team before he was fully recuperated than he has a case. Athletes also play under economic pressure and the risk of losing their job to a replacement if they don't or can't perform and this is a huge factor in the CFL. It's not always the players fault he often has no other choice but to "suck it up" and get back out there. I think the scientific knowledge of the damage repeated blows to the head causes has been in existence for a long-time as there are references to the term "punch drunk" as far back as the 1930's to describe the condition of retired boxers. It was most likely the business end of sports that delayed tying the two views together for as long as possible. To this day I think the sport of boxing refuses to acknowledge this condition has anything to do with their sport. -
