I don't believe Stoudermire was even at this camp.

That's an act of desperation that I hope the Bombers don't explore.

Walters should have had the confidence to make this decision at the end of last season imo, Being forthright with vet players who are not in the plans early on is only fair and it gives them a better chance of finding a spot on another team.

Stoudermire was wildly inconsistent last year, no surprise.

I suspect his height did him in, too bad they couldn't keep him around on the PR for eventual Smith or Dressler injuries.

Mod Edit: This discussion was split out of the Canadian Politics topic My main complaint with the Teacher's Unions is the number of school days they have arranged not to hold class. Looking at the school calendar just for this semester alone in my school district in BC, they have negotiated 4 day weekends in Feb., Apr. and May, plus a 2 week spring break in late March. I don't have the pre-Christmas calendar available but it was more or less the same for the previous semester. Taking into account the inconvenience, cost and loss of productivity to parents arranging their lives around these "no school days" would reveal a sizeable burden heaped upon the taxpayer above and beyond their negotiated salaries.

If any of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers offensive personnel who step on the field for this week’s five practices believe it’s strictly an informal meet-and-greet, take note of this from GM Kyle Walters: "Any time a player steps in the building, any time he’s in our city, he has a chance to make an impression," said the Bombers’ football boss. "It’s whether they pay attention in meetings... lots of things. "Some guys are going to have to go. These guys showing up, if they’re making a negative impression for whatever reason, then they’re probably not going to be here for training camp." CFL teams must have their numbers at 75 players by May 1 and with both the NFL and CFL drafts approaching, it means there will still be some roster juggling in the next few weeks before camp. That means the Bomber mini-camp is about more than the players reacquainting after the winter and getting a chance to test drive offensive co-ordinator Paul LaPolice’s new offence. Here’s a preview of what to expect over the next few days: Who’s attending The camp is offence-only, so no defenders will be on the field. All four quarterbacks under contract — Drew Willy, Matt Nichols, Dominique Davis and Bryan Bennett — will be throwing and all of the offensive coaches will be teaching. Only two running backs will be on the field — Andrew Harris and Pascal Lochard, both free-agent additions from the B.C. Lions. We tend to villainize the US govt. for NAFTA but as with the TPP it is mostly the large multi-national corps. that benefit from these trade agreements. US manufacturing has also been devastated since NAFTA was signed.

Agreed the ratio is doable enough but playing Wild in Hurls's role would be a waste of his skill-set imo. In 2014 when Wild spent time playing MLB he wasn't as effective as he had been on the outside and ended up being injured on a goal-line stand against the Riders. Bass has more mass so it may be that he is headed to the middle position but hopefully they allow him the freedom to pursue.

Not too worried about how they align the DB's as they have a number of good options available. I'm more interested in how they are going to get Wild, Bass and Leggett on the field at the same time for the majority of plays. I've heard O'Shea explain and defend Hurl at least half a dozen times so I understand his role is mainly to "plug holes" so the other LB's are free to cover or track down the ball carrier. Even if they could manipulate the ratio to get Wild on the field it would be a waste of talent to play him in this "plug" role. Hopefully O'Shea and Hall have spent the off-season coming up with an alternative D scheme which works to the strength of the available personnel. With improved D-line play they may be able to move away from this scheme and leave both Wild and Bass free to play to their strengths and keep Hurl around as a rotational player and backup in case of injury. I won't be surprised if Hurl is named captain of the special teams to replace Pontbriand.
