Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
Fatty Liver replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What doesn't make sense to me is using these challenges so early in the game, Dickenson seems to want to get them out of the way instead of using them strategically. Last W.E. didn't he use a challenge on the first play of the game? -
I don't hate the fly-sweep at all and they have worked fairly well this year but you have to think the Als. are going to be looking for that play tonight and with Cox and Hebert they should be able to cut Dressler down before he turns up field. Max. usage 2-3 times.
-
That'll work until they stuff Harris for 2 yard gains multiple times, then what? They'll also be looking for the fly-sweep this game, so that play will be good for a few losses. This would be an excellent opportunity to dress Flanders and throw something completely new at them.

Unless his first name is Mervin, Walker isn't a Natl..

I can buy this, O'Shea is defensive to an extraordinary degree, some would even say he's combative....but not me. -
Sure, but hopefully the science will advance to the point that they can identify the damage without an autopsy. Maybe MOS could volunteer.

This discussion gets rehashed every couple of months and I believe it's been pointed out that the rate of CTE is prevalent in rugby players as well. It's not just the direct hits to the head but also the abrupt stopping action that causes the brain to slosh around like jello in a bowl that cause the damage. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyunion/11857548/Rugby-uncovered-Game-still-has-head-in-sand-over-the-risks-of-brain-damage.html

If you can't spot the preppy D.B.'s...... -
I think advanced helmet technology could improve brain protection to some extent but I don't believe it could reduce it significantly from a physics perspective unless players agree to have foam injected into their brain cavities......you never know.

There's a lot, a lot, a lot, lot, lot, lot, lot more to come.

Agreed, teams that fail to establish the running game simply lose more often than not. -
You have a point but the obvious side effect will be parents no longer signing little Johnny up to play Pop Warner football once the risks are widely known to the general public. I know I wouldn't do it. The after-effects of a concussion is the brain's warning that you did something really stupid and you shouldn't do it again, not something to be ignored and repeated.

BC were keying on Harris and met him in the backfield, running on first down with no gain is a big part of the reason they struggled in the 4th Q. -
Bombers @ Lions: Game Day Thread (07/21/17)
Fatty Liver replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think O'Shea's strength lies in the locker room but without Walters input on personnel decisions, he may have been axed at the end of last year. If the Bombers can't match last years record of 11/7 this year or the next the questions will rise again in two years time. -
Wally platooned Harris with Logan for a couple of years in BC and I don't think Harris liked that situation very much as he wants to be "the guy". Hard to say how he would feel about being platooned with Flanders now.
-
He looked like that in 2015 for a period as well, when the Esks. beat them a few times on their way to the cup.

...and hands as cold as ice. -
You forgot Jake's intercept that Knox scored on.
-
i think the problem is they know BC will always key on Harris, thus they resorted to deception and short dumps to get him clear of the D-line. You need a huge RB to do what Messam does but most teams are so pass oriented they don't want to make that kind of investment in their running game. Harris is nearing his end, I would go out and find the next Mike Sellers and I wouldn't care a lick if he couldn't catch.
-
What a performance by Messam, talk about grinding a D into the turf, once he gets on a roll there's no stopping him. I expect he will receive the top offensive player award this week.
-
Notice how the Stamps developed Kamar Jordan, they didn't exactly pull him out of a hat, he's been sitting on the PR since 2014 learning the game and waiting for his opportunity to play. Bombers cycle through recruited receivers so fast it makes the head spin and even if the guy has all the tools he gets two pre-season games to prove his worth then gets cut before they move onto the next one.

Bagg may be earning more than Carter.

From what I can figure the main reason Hurl is the starting MLB is that he knows how to read the O better than any of his competitors at this point and is able to communicate that to other members of the D. With all of the young guys in the secondary right now that's a pretty important function. -
Derek Dennis ✔ @6BONECRUSHER3 Im man enough to admit when I **** the bed Hats off to @StampMachine I turned it on too late great game bro see you next time!
