Why would any one want to come here after 3 years of a mess that MoS is gonna leave us when he gets canned next year? Name me one good coach in the CFl that took 3 years to field a competitive team? Only in Winnipeg could we settle for this tripe.Gotta wonder if our reputation as an organization who fires people way to quickly is playing a role here. People talk about hiring the right coach but.... why would that guy want to come here knowing that in 2 years or even less people will be calling for his head. As for scouting... Ken moll explained it well a while back... you can put a list together but it takes sometimes 2 years for those players to finally come up here. It takes time.... something they haven't really had. 2 years... next year we should see some better recruiting hopefully. Then again maybe Walters and the scouts did bring in some good players on O but MB never really gave them a chance. Tough to say. Fire MB and let's see what happens. You fire MB and there is no more excuses cuz... I'm not sure anyone could succeed or look great playing in this O. Fire MB and see what happens. Look at replacing hall with a more aggressive minded d coach....

7-11 last year if we are lucky 6-12 this year yea the anti MoS we just aren't patient enough, he just needs more time to find another good OC and special teams coach. Hopefully they fall in his lap cause he sure as hell can't pick em. People were calling Popp a circus well guess what circus is gonna make the playoffs over our clowns?

So year two and we still have no winning team, no decent OC cuz we cant afford one, crappy talent from firing walters and replacing with no name scouts as we couldnt afford better.. And huff is on the hot seat.. And willy or our starter goes down for a long time..
His rep would certainly attract top notch people to work with him. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of his staff followed him. Might take a year or two, but he'd produce a winner.
And if he wins 15 games over two seasons and you want to fire him? Can you, or are you too invested financially? Hufnagel's success isn't just him. He's got the best personnel guy in the recent history of the league with him, he's got Dickenson, Stubler etc. If you can't build that organization, what's the point of paying one person?
I didn't budget for a sellout with Huff. I budgeted for 3000 more per game which would be an average of 30-31k per game. Realistic if you look at attendance during the 2011 Swaggerville season. If Huff could produce a consistent 10-12 win team, he'd more than pay for his salary at $1 million per season as GM and HC.
Once they put together a legitimate balance sheet that demonstrates an ability to operate the Football Club, IGF and service their debts we can start dreaming. They haven't done that since the stadium opened. I don't know how you budget for sellouts. Hiring Hufnagel isn't like flipping a switch.
Yes they could. 3,000 extra tickets sold per game over a full season is an extra ~2 million dollars. Not very good at math, hey?
Then you could volunteer to be his offensive coordinator, cause they couldn't afford to pay one.I'd like to see the Bombers step up and make a big splash by giving Huff $1 million per season to be our HC and GM. Unfortunately our CEO and Board are way too cheap, and too stupid to understand that you need to spend money to make money. You put a winning product on the field and you'll average 31,000+ bums in the seats per game vs the 26-27k we probably averaged this year.
You can say how awesome it could be but flipping the coin it could be just as much a disaster..

ahhh...the voice of reason!If a good GM gets 2 coaches, a good coach should get 2 sets of co-ordinators. I'm all for giving OSH until the offseason to get rid of Bellefeuille. Richie Hall's appointment as DC has been a success, so let's see what OSH can do when given the opportunity for a new OC, and the knowledge that this decision will ultimately be a big factor in his future as HC here in Winnipeg.
I get that Edmonton and Ottawa have become successful in 2 years. But the Bombers under O'Shea have NOT been a train wreck. They've improved. The organization and how players feel about Winnipeg as a destination has improved. They're in a similar spot to Lapo's Bombers of 2010 where we've been good enough to lose close games lately. When taking over a REALLY BAD organization, can any of you calling for OSH's head realistically think that 2 years is enough time? Maybe if Willy doesn't get hurt, the Bombers are 8-8 right now, but regardless, this was a massive turnaround.
Canning an HC (and possibly a GM) makes no sense to me after 2 progressive years.

Serious question.Is there any reason to believe that O'shea's roster management will improve after this season? Nine linebackers and one backup receiver!? You think he would have learned by season 2. What makes anyone thinks he will improve his decision-making in season 3? It shouldn't take that long.

Yeah your right this is what Harper was worried about.Yeah wonderful treatment of women in Muslim culture and we should embrace it because....it's their culture? Because the women are either fearful, manipulated or brought up to accept that they are not equal? Sorry I disagree strongly.
This isn't the issue in question but clearly we must explain how women are viewed in that culture before some people here will understand why "it's their beliefs so it's ok" doesn't fly.

In 2012, Mona Eltahawy published an essay in Foreign Policy magazine, ‘Why Do They Hate Us?,’ that drew attention to the unequal and precarious position of women in the Middle East and North Africa. Eltahawy argued that in the Muslim world women are treated like animals by men who disdain and fear them. In the wake of the Arab Spring, she called for a shift in focus from political leaders who oppress their citizens to the men who oppress women in the streets and at home. Her words prompted angry responses from many on the Left who are loath to blame one religion or culture for this miserable state of affairs.
Eltahawy’s new book, Headscarves and Hymens: Why the Middle East Needs a Sexual Revolution, expands this theme. The book more thoroughly addresses the reality of women’s lives in the Muslim world and advocates for a sexual revolution there. Combining her own experiences growing up in Egypt with examples of injustices across numerous countries in the region, Eltahawy paints a picture of a world that is dangerous and unjust for women, and covers issues such as veiling, virginity, rape, harassment, domestic abuse, and equal representation before the law.
Veiling has received the most attention in the West, and especially France, where it has been hotly debated. The policy of laïcité has led to the banning of veiling in government buildings there, including schools. Eltahawy’s own decision to veil came as a teenager, when, while on the hajj, she was repeatedly groped by strangers. Her shock and horror led her to believe that if she covered herself she would be protected from sexual harassment. As she got older she convinced herself she was expressing her feminist right to choose the veil.
Today she sees this logic for what it is: “To claim that the wearing of the niqab is a feminist issue is to turn feminism on its head.” She points out that for many women throughout the world, veiling is not a real choice because of pressure and threats from family, friends, regimes and strangers on the streets.
But the issue of veiling in the Muslim world often overshadows the far more serious problems of harassment, rape, and domestic abuse. According to a UN report, 99.3 percent of Egyptian women reported being sexually harassed, with 96.5 percent saying the harassment included physical contact. Eltahawy calls the public space “uniquely dangerous” for women in the Middle East. This was demonstrated during the Arab Spring protests in Cairo’s Tahrir Square when numerous women, including Eltahawy, reported being sexually assaulted both by military officials as well as by fellow protestors.
In this way, women are pushed from public spaces into the home, allegedly for their own protection. But it is here that they often face the most danger. More than 40 percent of women from Egypt, Tunisia and Lebanon—purportedly the most progressive states in the region—have reported being victims of violence in the home. Because personal status laws tend to be based on sharia in these countries, women often face difficulties having charges brought against their spouses. At the time of this writing, only Jordan, Mauritania, and Tunisia have laws that address domestic violence, although Eltahawy argues that they are rarely enforced.
Eltahawy describes the horrifying reality in the Middle East, where rape victims are often more stigmatized than rapists, and where women can be punished as “fornicators” under the zina, the part of Islamic law that has to do with unlawful sexual intercourse. Perhaps most upsetting is the prevalence of rape victims who are persuaded to marry their rapist. This is done so the rapist avoids facing charges, and the woman can restore honor to her family by keeping the loss of her virginity linked to only one man. This puts women in the often dangerous position of either marrying the man who attacked them or facing honor crimes, possibly murder, at the hands of family members.

Listen if I believed you were gullible enough to fall for that I would just shake my head and move on.Its just another ploy by a party to win an election and you know it.I never claimed to be an expert on those same things so let's not hold my opinion up as more deserving to tear down because you think I think im an expert.
It's common sense to me. If it's not common sense to you I guess that's what they call a difference of opinion. But you think your position is weightier. And that's fine.
Why would the government appeal a decision they would likely lose? Because they feel strongly about it. Id wager most appeals are losses. Why do people Appral anything? Bexajse tjeu feel strongly about it. becaude they feel its worth trying. Because they feel it's worth generating public discussion.
You can disagree with the government. That's your right. Majority of Canadians seem to agree on this issue. But it's the governments right to appeal and to take forth an issue they feel strongly about. That's their role as government.
Governments are elected. Judges aren't.
If also called this whole thing a red herring anyway. It's not nearly worth the print it's getting. And I believe strongly in the rights of people to do as they please. But I think the government is correct on this issue and that is taking a stand against offensive cultural practices and symbols of oppression that should not be supported in Canada.

Well if that's his ONLY problem it's still huge cause this is pro ball and you go with players if they produce period. BTW you can throw in holding on to a subpar OC as well which falls on MOS.The only problem with O'Shea is that he has too much confidence in players who are a net negative on the team. The killers this year are Stoudermire, Hajrullahu, Picard and Neufeld. Put competent players in those roles and the Bombers are easily .500 and probably nipping Calgary's heels as they have two wins on us they don't deserve.

It's not about a different opinion, it's about refusing to back up his opinion and opting instead to try and pretend like people are attacking him for having an opinion as opposed for asking for that opinion to be clarified and expanded upon. I swear there is a real lack of understanding the difference here.
A different opinion doesn't mean he's wrong. A few posters ganging up on a member doesn't mean that member is wrong either.

I've heard of recruiting once or twice. I'll try explaining once more. How can you, as a fan, say Davis is worth cutting when you're basically going off absolutely nothing? You say there are better quarterbacks out there. Obviously. But if that's your argument, we may as well just cut everyone because we're not rostering the best anything in the whole world right now.

Yes I agree with you.Only have to look at the NDP here in Manitoba as well.The power corrupts adage is true unfortunately.
Can't answer for others but here is my reason.Its the abject arrogance that he shows.Setting the longest election in history so that the Cons can inundate us with ads that the other parties cannot afford.Actually believing that they are the only party that can lead this country without causing a disaster. Harper's latest add says it's not a popularity contest kids do what's best for Canada.Finally Harper knows everything about how to properly run our country but hasn't a clue what his personal aides are up to? Yeah ok.
I think that the smartest thing Trudeau can do is get the GST back up to 7%. That will solve any budgetary deficits for years to come. If he can show surpluses then he will dispel any myths about the Liberals being able to manage the economy. Ralph Goodale was a good finance minister in the past and I expect, if given the job again, he will be good in the future.
Well at least we won't have to hear about how it's only Harper that can save Canada from the evils of the world.When our economy doesn't self destruct because Harper isn't personally running it what then?
