  1. It isn't your fault- its probably a genetic thing by spending time in Saskatchewan.
  2. Completely agree, we need to keep these kids out of jail if we can. Canada has one of the highest youth incarceration rates in the world - it's not working. And there is a direct correlation between the length of time an offender spends in custody and the likelihood of re-offending. The Dutch model is much more effective. And what would that be? They all pay their own way? Touche. All non-violent offenders are required to live with families trained in rehabilitative strategies. The offenders participate in household life and duties, go to work but live on an allowance and attend group therapy. The Norweigans and Danes have copied the strategy with success. Here in North America, the recidivism is close to 80%, whereas in Holland it is close to 20%. The cost savings to the justice system is enormous.

  4. I pick Edmonton and Ottawa to fight it out tooth and nail for dead last. Jim Popp and Wally Buono are too shrewd to let their teams collapse.
  5. What could have Mack threatened Burke with.....firing at the end of the season? Public humiliation along with the players? Damage to Burke's reputation?
  6. What? I was referring to Browning, but I didn't specifically mention him. I suspect the "What?" was more along the lines of if you consider that a big splash signing, Hinse should get the Bobby Hull Portage and Main treatment. But I shouldn't speak for another poster. Browning looked like he had all the skills necessary to make it big in the CFL, and his resume was pretty impressive as well. And yes, Hinse would be a welcome addition.
  7. Can we agree that this was a case of a very lame horse being ridden by a very bad jockey?
  8. I will be happy if Toronto doesn't march down the field and score on their first two possessions, if we don't go two and out on our first possessions and if we are still in the game in the third period.
  9. What? I was referring to Browning, but I didn't specifically mention him.
  10. Big splash signing, leaving with hardly a ripple. I wonder if his ego wouldn't allow him to play in less than the NFL, or he thought he had a better offer pending.
  11. And well-rounded, too.
  12. Funny how all this is clear in retrospect. Its also curious how none of the supposedly astute sports reporters called it for what it was last season.
  13. No coach on Earth could have won with those QBs and O-line but many probably could have done a bit better, but not well enough to make the playoffs.
  14. I think what Burke said was dead on- he didn't have the talent (quarterback and O-line) and he certainly conducted himself as if he neither wanted to be the head coach nor expected to win.
  15. Depending on his injury and the prognosis, I would much rather have the Bombers go after Richardson than Bryant.
  16. Anyone who thinks a team other than the Argos will finish first in the East should replay the exhibition TO vs Hamilton game. Toronto had 8 or 9 sacks against Hamilton with mostly their starting O-line. The only question mark is what will happen if Ray gets injured.
  17. Kinda makes you feel more forgiving towards the IGF construction process, doesn't it? Doesn't excuse the bare-faced lies about the completion date, though.
  18. It sounds like it is basically a physical and then he will be signed if he passes. O'Shea sure sounds like he is pretty much sold on Bryant. Okay....judgement first, assessment later.
  19. Sisco's retention is a surprise- he has been getting as much love in Regina as Etienne was getting here. He was described as having good hands and reasonably quick, but ran poor routes and was more brittle than Buck.
  20. And I really like Doug Brown, but when you're done. you're done.
  21. Bo Levi Mitchell
  22. What the heck- let's sign Etienne and Bryant- go all in and hope for divine intervention to take us into the playoffs.
  23. Wally has made his bonafides, so he gets cut some slack. Besides, BC had a pretty decent team, but if we are expecting Bryant to win us some close games or worry the opposition, its time to up the meds. If I am wrong, I will cheerfully admit it, but its sad to think this is the best option we have to improve a lackluster receiving corps. Upgrading the receiving corps had to have been a priority in the off-season as well as replacing Muamba, but here we are.
  24. Including a home opener win over Toronto. I am expecting a lot of wild inconsistency this year, but Toronto on Thursday is a real challenge, particularly when the team has been through all these changes and with all these question marks hanging over the team.
  25. I have a strong feeling we are in for a real roller-coaster year full of lots of surprises.
