The GM is not going to publicly throw his coach under the bus, just as the coach will not trash a given player in public unless all else has failed and that player is pretty much out the door anyways.

I suggest that Willy ought to hit the long ones if/when available but he needs to establish the run and short routes while offsetting the inevitable Calgary blitzes.

I think ti would be a lot worse for both Willy and the team if he started trying to force the ball to prove that he can pitch it that far. Willy absolutely cannot give up an early INT.

For Calgary to win: get to Willy early and blitz him a lot, victimize Robert, Macho Harris and Posey. For the Bombers to win: get Andrew Harris involved often and early, keep Willy upright, blitz Mitchell at random and smother . Above all, keep Calgary to under 20 points offensively, and for God's sake, don't let Willy start pitching long bombs into tight coverage just to prove he can.

Reports out of Montreal that both Duron Carter and Nic Lewis have been fined for making public statements about the current state of affairs in the Alouettes. Lewis can be excused because he is a veteran but Carter took to social media to air his grievances.

The problem in firing a coach mid-season lies not in the firing for cause, but in replacing him with another poor choice. There are no easy choices, and the GM has to decide which is the lesser of two evils- keeping a poor coach on with the attending message that repeated failure is acceptable and without consequence or a roll of the dice.

It concerns me that apparently the O-line was back to practicing blocking drills- something they ought to have picked up in training camp. Obviously they need the practice but why do they not know something so basic yet?

It was a deliberate faux pas and an attempt at humour. Sort of like old-timers disease.

We need Bass to step up. He was great as an outside linebacker but that has not translated into his play in the middle.

Given any time, BLM is going to pick the Bomber secondary apart, so there has to be massive, sustained pressure from the front seven with a lot of blitzing. Much as we hate Chris Jones, he says that a good blitz is about 83% effective- that is, resulting in an incomplete pass, knockdown or sack. On paper (yeah, right) our front four ought to give the rebuilt front five of the Stamps fits all game.

O'Shea came out today and said that the only way to beat Calgary was "the underneath stuff", so get ready for more of the same. A boring game may be the only hope for victory.

This has nothing to do with loving or hating O'Shea the person- it has to do with the way he manages the team and that includes his assessment of talent and even his not knowing what he can challenge, and usage of timeouts in the last game. I respect and like many clergy I have met but would want none of them as a coach. O'Shea was one of the greatest linebackers to ever play the game but his record is his record.

Don't say things like that when there are sharp objects within reach.
