The scary thing is that Riders have lost their games by way few points than we have lost ours. This does not bode well for the upcoming games against them. Smith actually resembled a real quarterback on several occasions tonight.

No. A tiny bit better just isn't good enough. We need real, demonstrable progress. -
SEE!! SEE!! We're not the only team to have Oline brain cramps. Although, in fairness, we seem to have them waaay more often.

Bombers interested in Jasper Simmons, UPDATE: Signed to PR

Wild at safety is an intriguing possibility, particularly since Leggett has been very average at best this year. -
Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
Tracker replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The Bombers being 3 and 5 is not the end of the season, but losing games in the same old ways as last year is. Our O-line is suspect (to be charitable), our linebacking is lacking, we have the worst defence in the league, and an anemic offence which is predictable and unimaginative. Fans can put up with an awful lost of misery if there is reason to hope things are improving, and we are still waiting to see that. O'Shea is a good guy, but so was Reinbold and he was a disaster as a head coach. -

Would think that most Rider fans would plan ahead of time and buy tickets right away. If they don't plan on going, they're probably selling them via resale. Didn't know that. I assumed it was a dildo, like the sex toy. Pretty good double entendre. I could say that the team would be providing stiff opposition and very good in the wet, but that would set off a whole chain of bad jokes. -
If manure gets dumped on McCallum's lawn, it would be difficult to tell that lawn from all the others in Regina. I would bet McCalum is in an apartment block as a precaution but enraged Rider fans will probably try to put manure (likely their own) on his balcony or window ledge.

Right now Collaros is looking like the best QB in the league and Austin looks like the shoo-in for the Coach of the Year. I really can't see any weaknesses in the team, except maybe their running game which may be a problem in cold weather. The 'Cats are full value for their record.

Montreal Fires Higgins, Popp to be Interim HC
Tracker replied to Rich's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I can see nothing good coming out of this for Montreal. Popp`s record as a head coach is not impressive and considering the quarterbacks he had to work with, Higgins did a pretty damned good job. If the players believe that they know better than the coach, then there is a problem in the locker room and it isn`t the coaching- its a nucleus of players who feel entitled to call the shots and that is guaranteed to implode. There are some parallels with the BC Lions but Wally is still smart enough to let the coaches coach until they prove they cannot. Does anyone remember the disaster in Regina when Miller was cruising the sidelines sympathizing with the poor, misunderstood and mistreated players -

Wow. Higgins got screwed again. Not sure if he is the answer here, particularly in mid-season, but unless O`Shea shows real progress, Higgins ought to be a consideration in the off-season. -
My money`s on Hamilton. Austin will scowl the Ti-Cats to a win.

I wouldn`t mind seeing Pfieffer show up here and suddenly hurt himself for about 14 weeks right after signing a contract. -

If St.John's was ever awarded a CFL team, I suggest that they ought to be named after a distinctive Newfoundland community so that everyone would instantly remember them as commemorative of that province. Ladies and gentlemen, I give the you "The Newfoundland Dildoes". -
I guess that's why I didn't quote any stats... If there is one revealing stat, its that bombers are worst in the league against the run - a lot of that is on the MLB. And here I thought it was because we had a poor defensive line too. I'd put that as a bigger flaw in the run defence than the linebackers. This is the most moronic statement on this board since I tried to say Patrick Lavoie was a franchise player. Crucify Bucknor but give Hurl a pass... ridiculous. Woods, Elimimian/Bighill, Sherritt, Simpson, Reed/Lawrence Yeah, you only NEED an allstar MLB if you want to win... that's all. Moot point - Jasper Simmons replaces Hurl next week anyway. Well just as a comparison Hurl has more tackles than Sherritt does... so what's your criteria for LBs then? Passport? Hurl isn't a super star but he's not a liability either. BC has had a defence for a while that puts a lot of it on the middle linebacker, makes sense to do that when you have guys like Elemimian and Bighill back there, but that's only one way to play D. So you think Hurl is as good as Sherritt? No I'm just making a comparison of stats between one supposed elite MLB and one guy who is apparently not very good at the position. I guess that's why I didn't quote any stats... If there is one revealing stat, its that bombers are worst in the league against the run - a lot of that is on the MLB. And here I thought it was because we had a poor defensive line too. I'd put that as a bigger flaw in the run defence than the linebackers. This has been posted before, but it is really difficult to assess Hurl's performance with the sub-par interior D-linemen we have. The opposing O-linemen seem to coming through cleanly and wiping Hurl out or at least engaging him long enough for the back to blow through to the secondary.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Bowman in Regina. They're desperate and Bowman ought to still have game left in him. -

Another example of stupidity: Wisconsin Helps Buy Billionaire Owners a New Arena $250 million cut from state universities, $250 million given to Milwaukee Bucks. By Roger Bybee / AlterNet August 18, 2015 Photo Credit: https://www.scottwalker.com/ Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has just delivered a thundering slam-dunk in the face of state taxpayers by lining up $250 million in public funds for the Milwaukee Bucks’ three billionaire owners to build a new $500 million Milwaukee Bucks arena. The contrast between the plight of Milwaukee, 4th poorest major city in the country, and the fortunes of the new Bucks’ owners could not be more stark. The three principle new owners—Marc Lasry (net worth: $1.7 billion, according to Fortune), Wes Edens ($2.5 billion) and Jamie Dinan ($2.4 billion)—are worth a combined $6.7 billion. (Edens is also the majority stockholder of Nation star, a nationwide mortgage servicer, which “manages some of the city’s worst kept foreclosed homes, properties commandeered by raccoons and drug dealers, “the NY Times reported. -
Quite a difference between the first and second videos. In the first, he showed poise, a fluid snap of the arm in throwing passes, and looked like he could run if need be. In the second, he was let down a lot by his receivers but frequently looked tentative and off his rhythm. A pocket passer, no question, and did not look like he had much of a chance to land on his feet here.

Bombers interested in Jasper Simmons, UPDATE: Signed to PR
Tracker replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Simmons was a standout in a very bad defence last year with Ottawa, and anyone who give his flat-out best in a consistently losing team rates highly in my books. Whether or not he has personal conduct issues is a whole 'nother matter and we will see when he gets here. If memory serves, KD Williams (he of the gold teeth) had some baggage as be bounced around the CFL but did well here, so who knows about Simmons? I love Simmons' speed. Hurl has been better in the last couple of games, but hardly dominant and if Simmons can us that, great. We can fit Hurl in somewhere or trade him for value. -
Tracker I musta missed something here....is there a rumour going around that he was hung over?? I saw them putting a cold towel over his head a few times, I'm assuming he was having trouble with the heat, which was, as we all know, outrageous at game time. A friend of mine does security there and was on the field, he said that it was much hotter on the field than in the stands. I have a seriously hard time believing that he was hung over. If you read back a page or two, the poster who said that in the gameday thread indicated that he posted that report as humour.

A thought: if public money is going into something like this, why not have that money become an investment with the principal owners having an option to buy the government share for market value? If the ownership is manging well the operation ought to become profitable, but there ought not to be sweeheart exhorbitant "management fees" that Shenkadow et al got with the old NHL Jets. -

Its difficult to separate where Bellefeuille's culpability ends and O'Shea's begins. O'Shea chose Bellefeuille and decided to keep him at the end of the season, and ought to be on Bellefeuille's case about the anemic offence which has been too obvious for too long. -
