  1. While its good to stockpile talent due to our receiving corps under-performing, it is not going to solve the core problems of the team: coaching and lack of confidence by the players in the coaches.
  2. When Simmons was signed, we had no guarantees that Wild or Muamba would return, so it was a smart move at the time. Moreover, in his limited playing time, Simmons appeared to play pretty well, so the optimism about him was justified. I would bet he will not be unemployed too long.
  3. Walters would be a fool to not take it. He is arguably on thin ice here with little job security and his tenure here depends on the on-field product. That has been pretty poor and also is a reflection of the quality of coaching- which has been a result of his choice of O'Shea as head coach. University jobs are as stable as you can get in this day and age and might even involve a raise, so what's not to like?
  4. Where did this happen? Source/link?Article in the Sun.I love it then. Finally some leadership. Its not all good news. It means that the issues in the locker room have come to a full boil and we are headed for a full-out crisis if we are not there already. The elephant in the room has stirred.

  6. Graig Newman called out his teammates and the coaches today. Lets see if anything comes of it. My guess is that it will be ignored- as Charlie Brown said, " there is no problem so big and so scary that it can't be pretended away from."
  7. There may be no perfect candidate for GM. I'm sure even Huffer has his share of critics, so it has to come down to who is realistically available- sort of the lesser of evils.
  8. I'm not sure that Walters has made a strong case for his retention. He's been a lot better than Mack was, but saying that is damning him with faint praise. The team may be better than it was upon Mack's firing but it has not translated down to on-the-field performances, and I believe that we've been blown out more often this year than last.
  9. O'Shea has had enough time to demonstrate his skills and judgement and both have been seen as wanting. I think he has passed the point of no return and cannot redeem himself in the eyes of the team or the fans. Kelly and Burke were so abrasive that I was glad to see them go, but O'Shea's looming departure is just sad. He tried his best but it just wasn't good enough. Time to turn the page.
  10. Exactly. Just freaking brutal. So Canadian in that respect. Bruno Gerussi would have been proud! The Cornish one in Calgary is where he runs from McMahon Stadium in gull gear to a Humpty's & then in a monotone robotic voice tells us how great it is. I hate bird imitators.
  11. What makes this even sadder was that had O'Shea fired both offensive and defensive coordinators and special teams coach at the end of last year and replaced the offensive coordinator and special teams coach with someone as good as Hall has been with the defence, we would probably not be in this fix. O'Shea's pig-headedness has done him in, or rather his choice of assistants plus his unrewarded loyalty to them.
  12. Well, that would put them in a pickle.
  13. But it took an enormous amount of indifference and incompetence to make it so.
  14. Yeah but that guy could plug that big hole in the middle of the ship in one hell of a hurry. Voila! radio guy, cancel the SOS. I didn't think Hurl would be able to up his game enough to be a starter but he is at least adequate as MLB, and he is nowhere close to being in the top 5 problems the Bombers have.
  15. Good for Newman to speak out on the Keystone Kops " special teams". That took guts for him to challenge the coaches and teammates. Expect him to be cut or traded forthwith.
  16. Muamba is a goner, for sure, and that is not the end of the world. Leggett has been playing well at linebacker and I hope Wild's arrival will not upset the character of a decent defence. However, neither Muamba nor Wild is going to salvage the season, nor even win one more game than if they were not here.
  17. There is a good parallel between the Thrashers/Jets when they arrived and the Bombers of 2013-2014. Both teams had not been doing well with under-performing players and some deadwood. The Jets chose to go with a relatively inexperienced but well-meaning and personable coach as did the Bombers in hiring O'Shea. Both choices, in retrospect were mistakes. Both teams needed experienced coaches who had demonstrated success. The Jets eventually resolved their problems, and now the Bombers are faced with difficult and painful decisions, and although it will be harmful to the team, the Bombers will stand pat. The end of the season will see another housecleaning, with O'Shea and possibly even Walters gone. Walters will probably jump before he is pushed and may have already negotiated a deal with the Bombers to leave with his dignity intact to join the U of Guelph. The Bombers need an experienced GM and head coach and there seems to be no one on the horizon who fits that description better than Higgins. Tillman may be available as GM, and I have real mixed feelings at that possibility, but I am so sick and tired of losing and losing badly that I am willing to consider Tillman or even Taman. Ick.
  18. The loss was worse than I had expected. We got schooled by Popp and had our butts kicked by a mediocre team, a mediocre coach and a sub-mediocre quarterback. O'Shea has no answers and with Walters flirting with the U of Guelph, there is no way that Walters is going to can O'Shea. And there is no way O'Shea is going to can Bellefeuille out of misplaced loyalty and having no real alternative.
  19. Ummm- did you not watch the first half of the game?
  20. Hall may be the best we have as an alternate head coach replacement for O'Shea, but I shudder to think what would happen to the only competitive part of this teamif he wasn't looking after it. 65-12 losses for the rest of the season?
  21. And now we're into fantasy football.
  22. Yup. O'Shea and Bellefeuille have been thoroughly discredited and we need experience- Trestman or Higgins, and I'm not sure if Trestman will be available any time soon.
  23. Thanks, DoD, for the pst-mortem assessment. Accurate but depressing and repetitive- sounds like all the other blowout losses this year. We now have more blowout losses than wins and the sad ratio is growing. We're way past the "tuneup needed" phase - we're into a "teardown and overhaul" phase. Again. Until this game I was 50-50 about keeping O'Shea but that is now 95-5 that he has to go. I have no doubt that the team has given up and has no confidence in itself or him and Bellefeuille.
  24. Hall is the only bright spot in the Bomber coaching ranks. He just have a hard time working up the drive to come to work these days.
